The musicianship in this band is insane
In my opinion, the Tedeschi/Trucks band have successfully inherited the mantle vacated by the great Allman Brothers. While the TTB are excellent writers in their own right, their covers constantly take on new lives of their own. “ Helpless “ is no exception. Despite the fact that this version is short, Derek’s solo is soooo tasty and Susan’s vocals speak for themselves. The background vocals were a wonderful addition. Just wish this Boston show and the Layla/Live at Lockin’ were available commercially on dvd.
Govt Mule is up there too w good American touring bands at this time
In my humble opinion, TTB is the most diverse, complete band out there right now. They can essentially do whatever they want. Big win for those of us loving live music!

I love Neil Young ♥️ and he's a hard act to follow, but Tedeschi and Trucks band are no doubt the best blues players around and you make Neil's music beautiful all over again!!
There is a calmness that washes over me as soon as I hear the first few notes of any of their songs. The tone, the vibe, her incredible voice against that guitar. Incredible.
What a tremendous band,I am 76 and listened to many great lady singers,but none of them can compare to Susan.

Appreciate the comment but there's so much more than the cover band. Last year they introduced a quadruple album of all original material.

I was at this show and 9 others.
I went to Lockn' in 2019 (I don't really like festivals) just because they headlined. So HAPPY I did.
So excited to have booked tickets for the Palladium in November. We all need something to look forward to. I live near Worthy Farm and no one appeals nowadays. BUT if TTB were booked I'd be tunnelling under the fence.
Got tickets to go to DC in July to see them! Can't wait! 70th b'day present!

Helpless is a Canadian icon. I never realized how much it depended upon Neil's weak, squeaky voice and tentative guitar picking until Derek and Susan blasted it out of the water.

Dereks guitar sounds great after 2:00. Made me think of Lowell George, don’t know if Derek is influenced by his slide sound.

Fond of this song--not because I'm a patriot but because an American, after proudly bragging about all the songs written about US places, challenged me to name one song referencing Canada. Boy! Did the mention of this song ever shut him up. Perfect example of how less can be vastly more.
I think she sounds better by herself. All she needs is that guitar and a microphone.

I've already seen them three times in concert, and will see them in London and Glasgow next year, so I'm a big fan, and their covers are always exceptional, I personally don't think its that good.it just seems a bit flat.

Derek is certainly one of the best guitarist of all time, that being said I don't like his tone for this song. Maybe I am just too old.

I'm still trying to figure out what people see in Tedeschi that is so wonderful. Her voice sounds the same on every single song and her guitar playing is completely mediocre. She is one of the few musicians that I consider incredibly overrated. She is where she is because of Derek, not because her talent alone propelled her to these heights.
