From the moment Johnny said that preestablished canon was fine, Egbert should have been charging around at 30mph
He likes bombs, tie up one of their usual bad guys place a bomb on the ground, a shield on top of that, and then the victim on top of that. Run like Hell. Bom 'voyage.
My headcanon regarding the mace is that when everyone is revived, Egbert keeps tapping Merilwen with it for like 2 days until she goes back to wood elf.
he got her back to elf on hour 17 but the muscle memory took over & had to do it again
Every single paladin yelling at the screen “you have Lay On Hands my dude, stop wasting your spell slots!!” But that’s our Egbert. 😂
Everyone throwing around terms they learned from Baldur’s Gate is cracking me up. Iconic
Yet no one learned from BG3 that you can't stealth when you are out in the open, right next to a person...
@@GreatZarquon I still found it very funny that Corazon was allowed to even though I know from using Astarion in combat that sneak attack is actually difficult to do; at least for me.
@@SolaScientia he is a swashbuckler rogue, so he can do sneak attack if he is in a 1v1 melee fight... Though he massively abuses it and basically just calls sneak attack for all melee attacks lmao
@@SolaScientia You can get sneak attack by attacking an enemy that is adjacent to an ally, which tends to be the easiest way to set your rogue up for extra damage. I hope that helps! :)
@@GreatZarquonBG3 isn’t using the 5e rules verbatim, though, even setting aside the fact that DM interpretations can vary.
I would call this the most unexpected result possible, except that it didn't involve The Ancient Dragon Lansseax.
Prudence is cursed with undeath, so she'll be back in two years. Dob will be a taxidermied zombie. It's gonna be an awkward reunion.
Prudence’s immortality is very much up in the air, as far as we know they could’ve killed the curse bearer
@adamire8310 I believe Johnny said they did not. That while it MIGHT not come back, he very much hinted that it was still alive and had gone back to where it had come from. If you remember during the fight, they said that it was older than religion when Egbert tried to do a paladin move. I very much doubt that that a bunch of level 8s, killed an ancient entity more powerful than liliana. He did say however that Prudences curse is up in the air as a result of *defeating* it
Dob will walk his corpse up a mountain and fall over again. His curse doesn't revive him, and the taxidermist is dead
Prudence didn't even die there unless the ground is magic and/or silvered
I feel like Dob missed a golden opportunity to cast all of his spells at once on one of his closest friends, considering it's cannon that he can.
“Does THIS make us nerds?!” When talking about Minis in a DND session!
A-ah, commercially available minis of their own characters- that makes them freaking winners as far as I'm aware:D
Crouching Merilwen, Hidden Corazon
Technically it's crouching Prudence, hidden Corazon, but I got you
Dob: refuses to fight his friends
Egbert: refuses to fight his friends
Merilwen: refuses to fight her friends
Corazon: immediately hides
Prudence: 😈
I'm dying at how BG3 has implanted bonus action shoves into their heads
It's not even in the official rules. Shoving is very explicitly an attack action, not a bonus action.
@@globalincident694Some things Bg3 did is better than D&D 5e itself.
Some are quite silly.
@@globalincident694 not even an attack action, it replaces one attack on your turn. If you have more than one attack for an attack action, you can push a bunch of times.
Round 1: everyone attacks merilwyn
Dob: THATS MEAN! Egbert, do it for me!
That ended in the most Oxventure way possible!
I have to say, Prudence not losing a single hit point until she lost them all was impressive.
This was hilarious and fun! Thanks! (Also, aside, really ironic that Viva La Dirt League put up a DnD Battle Royale on the same day 😂)
Prudence: I pull out my book of making idioms real and say "man, I really knocked 'em dead"
38:16 "I place my hand gently over his heart, and cast Shatter!"
Damn, Dob.😂
Now I've got Egbert in my head singing "Unbreak My Heart"!
@@BlueGriffin20 Come to think of it, Shatter Me, by Lindsey Stirling /Lizzy Hale would have been good too. Amazing song!
Clearly everyone considered Merilwen the biggest threat
Likely due to the health re-up with wild shapes. Player at our table plays druids almost exclusively, in preparation for the battle royale we're never going to have. 😂
The Fathomer can polymorph as well .. and is resistant to most damage and conditions ...
if corazone hadnt been hidden im sure some hits would be aimed at him. Prudence was left alone a long time aswell
Not really, she painted an enormous target on her forehead by going on an all out assault on corazon. Druids have so many cc spells, but she basically let her emotions get the better of her.
Doctor Two was entirely unappreciated. What an incredible pun
I came looking for this comment in order to second it. Absolutely brilliant.
My headcannon is that in honor of Merilwens cursed end, the sponsoring meatcompany has bought a new machine: Merilwens Meatgrinder
55:25 The way Eggbert wanted to go... Blown up and tossed over the side of a mountain in his sleep.
I love Prudence's showboating sooooo much, she instantly became my favorite character. (Previously it was a five-way tie)
I think Ellen just had a massive taste of what it is like to be Johnny. She was all set up and potentially the on-paper favourite. She arguably knows the rules the best and druids have lots options. However as we all now know, no best laid character sheet survives contact with the Oxventurers
@@ramsay2234Honestly I only know about as much about DnD as the Oxventures. To me it looked like from previous adventure achievements she has the best build, except for the occasional Cora-nonsense
I think the others considered her the favourite (as did the pre-upload audience vote iirc), which is probably why they all targeted her until she turned invisible.
Indeed, druids have a lot of versatility in a situation like this, and Ellen has proven to be a creative player. She was my pick up until Round One when she was everyone else's pick, too.
I kind of skipped most of the intro because it felt unfair 😂 I mean, PVP is PVP, but I did want to see more crazy druidic magic before Merilwen got deleted. Alas!
"Call that an Eldritch Blast? This is an Eldritch Blast!"
The lesson here is: never try to out-Eldritch Blast the Eldritch Blaster.
Anyone when remember when dob objected to killing the people who where going to hunt them because they where asleep? Now he's dumping one of his closest friends of ledges while they nap. Prudence must be so proud.
Egbert could totally win this! Except for Mike's allergy to the D&D player's guide
@@SirStanleytheStumbler Good thing his intel. and deity counter his OP powers. ;)
What's funny is he actually used his player's guide. And he still died.
@@rorybryant3282 Nah, he barely glanced at it, hence why he got his oath wrong. In fact, Mike doesn't even glance at what abilities he has, hence why he forgot he had moonbeam for, I think, close to a year or so.

@@cttommy73 He's really just a fighter at heart. The paladin stuff is just flair. He's playing Old School D&D.
I feel like Prudence could have spider climbed back up or summoned a greater demon to fly her back up.
Was she out of spell slots for Eldridge blast or is that a cantrip? She might have been able to Eldridge blast both dob and Coroson while falling 🤔
Dobs opening actions gave off BIG Space Buddies energy lol
Given the hot dog sponsor I was sad for lack of condiment twins :(
As soon as Johnny said 120ft across I just thought „Prudence is going to be able to Eldritch Blast anyone at anytime. This is dangerous.
Dob: Merilwen doesn't retain her consciousness.
Also Dob: has been hit by the mace before
Merilwen learning and being unable to use her spells, Prudence learning(eh) the cost of violence, Egbert learning his spells, Dob using an ability he's never needed before and Corazón ending it with a fatal piledrive was just... hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing while I watched in horror.
Let's face it, we all knew Corazon was most likely going to win, with the completely broken swashbuckler sneak attack.
I'm also slightly disappointed that Prudence didn't summon a daemon, and that Mike still hasn't/doesn't remember his paladin abilities.
The scene where Egbert is gently dumped off the cliff and is enveloped into the clouds below gave Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon bridge jump vibes 😢😂
Dob pulling the Mishima Special on Egbert was hilarious. And the orbital elbow drop was the ending noone saw coming, 10/10 😂
Corazon O Corazon, look to the Horazon, there you will see his flying elbow drop.
Oh gods, the unthinkable has happened! Egbert has realized he is a paladin and read the rules!
Finally Egbert gets to shine. Assuming Mike remembers that Aura exists.
So first turn, Mike doesn't account for having proficiency in wisdom saves (+3) or his Aura bonus (+4), and tries to apply an ability from the wrong Oath. He absolutely did not do the reading.
He might just end up hitting them all with the mace until they turn into animals and keep them as pets again.

There's a bit of asymmetry there lol imagine 100 dob sized horses charging you

Oh no Mike is reading the rules! Everyone run away😮
Ok, its fine i guess.
i love how Jane is wrecking everyone in pvp but in the actual quest Merwin is the heavy hitter and prudence is constantly missing her attacks lol
Not watched it yet, but I didn't vote for Prudence in the poll because she's weak to Moonbeam being a werebear and all, and EVERYONE can cast Moonbeam.
@@SolaScientia No shot any of them actually remember Prudence is technically a shapechanger XD
@@Joe90h They all forgot a lot of stuff. I don't think Prudence remembers the werebear stuff unless Johnny makes it part of the adventure. Egbert and Merilwen both didn't use moonbeam.
normally Prudence has a hit rate of about 20%, in PVP she bought an aimbot apparently
I still believe merilwen would've won this if she hadn't been focused by literally all 4 other oxventurers. This is outrageous.
that's exactly why they all went for her first. smart of them but damnit 🥺
@@PanEtRosa yeah, although I couldn't predict that the ultimate way they defeated her was stopping her from playing a druid
She didn’t do herself any favors by getting tunnel visioned on Corazon. She just couldn’t let that first sneak attack go

That was awesome. I was waiting for Prudence to use "Banish" on herself in free fall to a Dimension of Cute Ultra Big Plushies - return in a minute covered in something soft.

Bit makes sense considering Purdence has probably been semi dreaming about something like this for a while
Jane went so easy on everyone, didn't even summon a giant duck!

If he was really using his brain he would have gotten the grease out and slid everyone off the mountain 😂
I always thought it was Johnny's uncanny inability to tell Andy "no".

Hey, I the rogue have cunning action!
Okay, then I've got cunning action!
I too have cunning action!
Everyone gets cunning action! :P
I would agree, but then, they also let the hide action work in a featureless arena and act like greater invisibility
@@goofyfurball7311 it's a fudge for sure, but I don't think "hide" necessarily has to mean ducking behind cover. It could mean something as simple as moving around in such a way as to cause opponents to underestimate you, effectively (even if not actually) blinding them to your position. The whole ruleset necessarily must be a bit fudgey in the first place or else it'd never cover all the situations it does with the kind of accessibility it has. Eh, I think for a game as unstrict a vibe as this one, that it's a fair compromise. Forgetting that cunning action's rogue-specific, however, is a bit more mistake than compromise, I think. Don't think that'd be deliberate, if they'd caught it. :)
Not a complaint either way, just something I spotted and felt like saying.
I see Dob winning this as he just has to go full "don't be a Dob".
The proud look on Andy's face upon "This is possibly the most underhand thing I've ever seen...."
Beautiful.
Where’s Corazon gone? He’s Cora-Gone!
That’s such a bad play on words in right up my street well played sir
We should have known that Corazon would win. It's written in his name: Cora-won!
The part where Luke says my 4 orc hearts are exposed, and it cuts to Johnny with this 50yard stare where they are just trying to think about 4 hearts in an orc. Maybe they were thinking of space marines!
Absolute peak oxventure chaos. I love it.
Merylwen was robbed.
I will die on this hill, this is my Roman Empire.
i mean i don't disagree but.. so was Egbert who was slept and didn't have a chance to defend himself on the way down, and in a way Corazon as well because feather fall when active negates fall damage. The thing with PvP in DnD is that everyone has cheesy and broken things that can make even The toughest enemy die in humiliating ways its part of the fun.
@voidstar6353 and to add on if they were falling more than a minute he'd have a reaction again to reactivate it on top of fall damage almost certainly killing Dob flat out so his racial bonus wouldn't kick in
I don't think Corazon could've possibly died given feather fall lasts a minute at 60ft per second on an 80 foot mountain lol
I think the idea is Corazon wanted to die, after winning ofcourse but he wanted to die. That’s why he doesn’t even try to grab something to hang on.
Oh I realize he wanted to, he just wouldn't have@@LegendaryTalesandTrails
It's kinda sweet how hurt they were! I guess it's weird to play a wholesome dnd group for so long and then turn around and kill them.
*Immediately goes to the comments to see if anyone else points out that Merilwyn shouldn’t have been able to dash out of the Hunger of Hadar because bonus action dash is only a rogues thing*
Johnny let multiple non-rogues get away with dash as a bonus action in this game. Between that and the BG3 shove, bonus actions are a bit unhinged now.
But when have the Oxventurers ever cared about the rules, really? It's not what makes them entertaining (though my inner rules lawyer would be equally entertained by watching them have to abide by all the rules for once).
I felt outraged on poor Merilwen’s behalf! That was a fun (and chaotic) one off! If we’re being honest though, Prudence bodied most of that.
She barely moved off the starting platform! 😂
Mexico selects Egbert as its champion
Can't believe no-one remembered the lore of dob cause he technically won, cause when he dies he comes back alive as an undead and has to walk up a mountain to a destroyed cabin and also the fish inside him would still be legal. God dob lore is so random
Also would Corazon feather fall do enough damage on landing to even take 1 point of damage off.
Prudence also had many outs on her way down though must have been too shocked to work them out. x:x
I think the implication was Corazon did feather fall too early and so it wore off before he landed because he died too.@@nihkhdtigerson1599
Even feather fall lasts a minute. Technically Corazon wouldn’t even die. Heck with feather fall he also had plenty of time to drive his saber on the mountain side and hang on. I think they kinda wanted to go they all die route.
They kinda all forgot that Egbert got explodinated due to his bombs, and declared the ground to be explosive. 🧨
"I wanna get this Fathomer off" made me do a full spit-take. I'm apparently still 13 years old.
Kind of glorious seeing all the characters feel the annoyance and frustration that Johnny has felt for years. 😁😂
Honestly that was the perfect ending. Corazon pulling a total dick move just to have dob anti it and finished with a crazy ass elbow drop and a draw.
I think that almost perfectly describes this party to a "T"
Being able to summon a demon has to help- unless it's another duck i guess
She really could have used it at the end of the fight like specifically the giant duck
I was hoping that's what she was doing when she walked over to the fathomer's corpse, since she'd need freshly-killed-humanoid blood.
My favourite part of this was Prudence playing to the camera, what a pro
Yeah, Merilwyn might had chance to win this if She accept an alliance from Dob & Corazon but She had to much pride in it and keep focusing on Corazon, if She agreed and should do just like Dob said, Dob (while controling Egbert) and Corazon will change and focus their attacks on Prudence instead.
Man Merylwin was my bet to win. That was unfortunate.
Everyone else's bet to win, too, that's why she was the first target.
Did the Fathomer pop out of thin air or a thick bear?
I lost it at Prudence's eyes going wide at Corazon's 20 damage to Merilwen. I was not expecting Dob straight out of the gate with Crown of Madness on Egbert. I'm starting to think, being just barely into the fight, that they maybe do know their characters well. ...I spoke too soon as soon as Mike interrupted with how he's reading it for the first time. Never mind about them knowing their characters all that well. I swore when Egbert rolled 6 on Merilwen. The imagery this one is creating is perfect. I love imagining them all spotting Corazon attempting to hide. I love everyone knowing the mechanics better just because of BG3. "Please, get wrecked" I love that line.
Oh dang, I did not expect Merilwen to get taken out like that. Wow.
I hadn't realized that no one damaged Prudence at all. I also love them all suddenly hiding how many hit points they have left.
Corazon's speech had me wheezing. Then a murder-suicide attempt except Corazon betrays them is absolutely the most in-character thing for him and also seriously underhanded. I love it.
Oh man, I did not expect that from Dob. This was an absolute blast.
This should be annual if the party has leveled up substantially.
My money is on:
5th: Egbert. Has high melee damage and the ability to close the distance with Misty Step, but since Mike is playing him he's going to favour riskier and funnier strategies like his bombs and using improvised weapons, the advantage of this strategy is that the others are going to underestimate him so he might be able to score at least one kill.
4th: Dob. Lower melee damage and limited spell range, but in a duel with Egbert, Dob might have an edge with his esoteric spell usage.
3rd: Merilwen. Strong damage across the board, decent mobility and a wide range of spells, but I suspect Wild Shape is going to make her one of the biggest targets because of the obviousness of how powerful she is. If the others underestimate her I could easily see Merilwen scoring the win.
2nd: Prudence. rudence has the highest damage potential and will most likely start out extremely aggressive. Like Merilwein, she needs to make sure she doesn't draw too much attention but if given the opportunity to cook, Hunger of Hadar and Summon Greater Demon and similar combined with the long range of Agonizing Blast + Eldritch Spear might give her the win.
1st: Corazon. Being a Rogue, numbers alone with Sneak Attack damage and his many ways of mitigating incoming attacks give him a massive edge. Since it's Corazon, my reckoning is that he'll remain hidden at the start of the fight and then move into a one on one duel towards the end. Corazon likes to favour showy performances so this risk might lose him the win if he doesn't play it safe early on.
If Egbert actually reads his character sheet he resists spell damage. So Mike actually reading is an X factor to consider.
Of all of them, Egbert is the biggest wild card for sure. If he reads his sheet I would maybe put him above Dob and possibly Merilwen.
@@Tickerbee also Corazon has a shortbow he never uses as Ellen pointed out in the body swap episode.
This is true, but I don't think he'd use it. Not even because Andy would forget, but because it's not on-theme for a Swaahbuckler.
Alls fair in love and pork products 😂😂
Congrats to Andy for doing the most "It's what my character would do" move ever in Oxventure history. Corazon is as devious as he is combat averse.

Corazon: Throw him off a cliff?

No spoilers, but the ending is absolutely epic:D
More spoilery bit below:
It's a real shame we haven't seen Merilwen going full Neutral, I feel like, given the chance, Ellen would kicked their butts... Kudos to her adapting on a dime to the role of Fathomer though!
This is awesome, and by far the most everyone's engaged with their character mechanics
Corazon you bastard!
48:51 Jane's "The forbidden spell slot" at the end of this exchange deserved more recognition
Amazing to see Oxventure guild again. And Battle Royale was great!
Dob: "Does this make us nerds?"
Me: LOL!!
Fun silly session! A few rules things though:
- You can't hide if the people you're hiding from can see you doing it - you need something to hide behind or darkness or whatever.
- BG3 changed a *lot* from the main D&D rules, so bonus action shove isn't actually a thing - Shove is a special type of attack you can make.
- Hunger of Hadar is a sphere of blackness so nobody can see in or out (except maybe with Devil's Sight on a Warlock). You need to see to make attacks of opportunity.
- Standing up from prone costs half your movement, it's not a bonus action.
- Someone please remind Mike he doesn't need to cast Cure Wounds to heal, he can Lay Hands to cure more HP more easily, he only needs to Cure Wounds once that runs out.
- Prudence should have spider climbed at the end!
But it wouldn't be Oxventure without playing fast and loose with the rules, just things to keep in mind!
This trailer is sick Ive watched it like 8 times and I'm still hyped
