    I had a little sable girl from 2003-2009. Her name was Liberty Belle or Libby for short. She was treated like a princess with the run of my house and made the greatest pet when living on my own for the first time. Every year, I would take her into work to visit the kids in my class and teach them about ferrets. They aren’t common pets in Australia. She had a large bird aviary that was converted into a 3-storey palace. My only regret was not having a second ferret.

    Little beasts ^^
    They are long and fluffy and cute and smart, and when I'm gonna move out and live by myself, I'm definitely gonna get a bunch to keep me company. They seem like the kind of pet that will never let you feel lonely and bored, snooping around and playing with your hard earned possessions :3

    As a ferret owner I’m surprised how accurate the facts are in this video, I was expecting it to be some video with little to no research. This is great considering that many people don’t do research on ferrets and end up harming their by pet stores giving them harmful products. Thank you.

      very true i read a comment about someone talking about how their ferret is quiet and pants, they went on to say it’s bc they only have 1 because where they live isn’t “ready” for 2 and after reading that my heart was broken poor baby is most likely depressed bc someone was selfish enough to only get 1 ferret that has no issues being with other ferrets all bc they wanted a pet and care only about themselves and not the well being of the ferret if you don’t have an area ready for 2 than why half ass it and only get 1 when they literally HAVE to be with another if they have no issues, if they wanted one they should’ve gotten one that has issues being around other ferrets such as the one i have she violently attacks any other ferrets so she has to be alone and she’s completely happy and content and does nothing that the person was talking about theirs doing like you can’t just do that it’s not like only sometimes normal ferrets are good to be alone no matter what unless they have issues they have to have a companion i left a very upset comment after reading that bc i’m a single ferret owner for good reason so seeing someone purposely neglecting what should be done while having a ferret in your care broke my heart

      don’t get only one unless you get one that has issues with other ferrets and has to be alone and do extensive research no such thing as doing too much research don’t ruin something else’s life due to not researching how to truly make them happy and take good care of them but best of luck if you do get ferrets

    • @nickdemarino5391
      @nickdemarino5391 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      far from cats they’re way more emotional more human like (according to science) need socializing way more actually cats don’t truly need any, they are completely carnivorous, they have many different noises that sound all differently or some similar they sleep way more, they’re way more curious, they’re truly one of a kind and absolutely nothing like a cat not even a tiny bit other than the fact they’re a pet and can be male or female, idk where ur getting comparing them to cats from there’s no logic in ur comment at all they’re literally just ferrets idk why you’re saying they’re like something else that they actually aren’t anything like 💀 yea bro imma use ur logic, dogs are: friendly gorillas with tales and slightly smaller. like ferrets are ferrets and saying they’re like a cat or any other animal is dumb and makes no sense like what went thru ur head that made you infer they’re cats but with some slight differences i’m embarrassed for you

    Never had a cage for my ferrets. Always free roam 24/7. I just block off any openings in walls, cabinets, behind fridge, stove, or anything dangerous to them with cardboard & duct tape. You just have to be mindful of their presence & don't just absentmindedly do something, like extending the lazy boy chair. Never had any accidents with them free roaming. People are NOT mindful, hence accidents with ferrets.

      @@ambitiousbeauty1013 I have pads around my apartment in every room. Some are smart & learn if you scold them. Others are dumb & will just go anywhere in the corner. Blocking off the undesirable corners with things doesn't seem to work, as they just poop over the objects or around it. But for the most part, they're pretty much trained.

    • @nickdemarino5391
      @nickdemarino5391 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@DecrepitBidennah you can train all of them just some are easier and others you need to just stay persistent and don’t give up eventually they’ll learn but i also do exactly the same thing except i don’t leave mg bedroom door open at all times she knows my room is her room and where she has to sleep when she’s done playing or exploring she knows to go back to my room and the doors closed at night i also only have one due to her not being able to be around any other ferrets bc she violently attacks them so she’s extremely happy and gets spoiled rotten and is way more healthy than she was at the place i got her from she was saved from a farm that kept her locked up for years with her brother and tested on them and her brother passed when the rescue saved them from the farm and the rescue was never able to bond her to another ferret bc she hurts them too bad and the rescue kept her locked up too but when i went to the rescue to get her the women gave me her for free due to feeling bad and being happy she found a home bc she had been returned to the rescue once by someone who wanted her before me but had issues bc they didn’t believe she actually hurts other ferrets so i can’t bring my self to even try a cage and you can tell the difference in when she first came and was used to a cage vs now when she has an entire apartment to herself i’ve read comments of ppl getting one ferret that has no issues and is incredibly sad bc they will become depressed if you do that, unless they have to be alone people should always get them a companion it hurts my heart that ppl are so selfish they just want a pet but won’t put in the research or care it takes to have a ferret

      @wolfshanze5980 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@potatosauce12 which "type" of ferret is $300... what "type" costs more? Ferrets don't come in types, a ferret is a ferret. Pricing is 100% up to the seller... i've seen (and purchased) ferrets for as little as $150, and as much as $450... you can also adopt a ferret for far less at a local ferret shelter. Having said that, the price of the ferret is the cheapest part of owning a ferret... paying for a proper diet (not kibble), caging, toys, ferret proofing and vet bills is where the expense comes from, and yes, owning a ferret is generally more expensive than owning a dog or cat. But a very rewarding experience.

      No ferrets should only have 1egg per ferret once a week. They are obligate carnivores and need meat no grains or vegetables. Cat food is not the best for them and dog food is absolutely no good at all for them. Fresh meat is the best and will help your ferret live longer nd small uncooked bones like chicken wings are needed to keep their teeth clean and healthy. Eggs are good for helping them get rid of fur out of their gut and intestines.

      Stephanie pretty much nailed it on nutrition... a raw diet is best, supplemented with an occasional egg... there are, however other viable alternatives as not everyone can do a pure raw diet. You can use Freeze Dried Raw (and/or Air Dried Raw) commercial products, as they are something inbetween raw and kibble diets... not quite as good as natural raw, but far better than kibble and about as easy to feed as kibble, it's a good alternative if you can't do a raw diet for whatever reason (look for "cat food" freeze dried raw, like Ziwi Peak or Stella and Chewey's).

    Ferrets are crepuscular which means that they wake up right before dawn and dusk

    Ferret like a cat/dog
    so much energy
    full of business
    searching everywhere
    jills, hobs, kits too
    i can see you
    and I'm coming soon
    hide the remote
    crawl into a hole
    better go ferret proof
    maybe nothing you can do
    they will get out
    search the whole house
    eat all day long
    sleep like dead dogs
    wake up to play
    put up you're dukes
    wrestle to the ground
    I have made you
    and this whole zoo
    time to graduate
    get a new place
    to live forever in
    oh this is sweet a song calling ferrets from Jesus

    you shouldnt bath them

    • @stephanieclapham9031
      @stephanieclapham9031 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bathing just makes them stink more and they clean themselves. I haven't washed my ferrets since they were very young.

    • @wolfshanze5980
      @wolfshanze5980 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You only bathe a ferret if they get into something particuarly nasty/filthy... otherwise, they should be given a bath about as often as you bathe your common house cat (ie: never).

    • @TheSuperspatz
      @TheSuperspatz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wolfshanze5980 we used to bathe our cats and they loved it, also (as said) some ferrets like the water so we bathe them maybe once every couple of months and moisturise them afterwards

      Descenting is a nasty thing to do. Thank god its an unnecessary and vets in Australia won't do it.
