great presentation. on trucks with high hours I have found that the internal strainer filter in the valve chest ontop of the transmission gets blocked. often people just replace the filter. if you don't flush then change the ATF and filter it will block again. once again I learnt that the hard way.

Thanks for the check light thing, never thought of it it also would limit current vry cool and the t-pin type will change how I do things moving forward, like every day. You should get a Fluke multimeter, this would take like 3 minutes without any power involved.
I do have a fluke multimeter. I like using a test light on simple loads such as relays, lights, solenoids because its quick and easy to do a bypass test. The bulb would limit the current going through, as you are basically connecting the test light in series with the load.

Just started working on toyota lifts at work . I have a 8fgcu20 I think , smaller hard tire dock forklifts and when you hit the brake pedal going forward it will almost throw you out the seat , when in reverse they operate normally and gradually stop you without jarring any tips ?
Hey buddy, im having problem with no forwards or backwards, i have power to either side of plug to solenoids on transmission when switching lever to forward or revers, also done a bypass test. so we stripped the transmission, the solenoids seemed fine when we tested them as we could hear them opening or closing when power was put to them, all internals of transmission looked fine as far as im aware apart from internal strain filter which was clogged. but cannot see any other problem internally on transmission, still yet to put transmission back in but struggled to find any issue at all, where else could i look?
I have the same issue and completed all the troubleshooting procedures you posted. I do have power on my assembly switch and when added 12v to switch wheels move forward. Is my issue coming from the relay? Thanks in advance
+Mathew Hansen no. On the dip stick there is a level for hot or cold. I usually run the engine to running temp, kill the engine then check the level using H as reference.

I have one with the same issue. Solenoid and clutch packs are fine as I had it going forward with a bypass test. Direction switch works and It can't be the relay as swapping the relays around doesn't swap the fault. Must be a broken wire somewhere surely?

I verified I have switched voltage at the connection. there's no possible way the relay would be bad if I have all of those things, correct? I found a plug for the forward valve broken, but I could still freely move the valve in the bore and the valve would spring back like it should. all of this after a pm. go figure. any thoughts? btw your videos are very informative...even to veteran lift techs. keep up the good work
I think some of these have 4 wires in the connector instead of two. Two wires mean the solenoid is grounded to the body if four then the other two would be ground wires for each solenoid. The most effective way is to use a scope to look at the current and voltage to see if the solenoid is really opening and closing. Using a current clamp and comparing the current to the reverse would give an idea if the solenoid is operating. If the solenoid is shifting the spool, then pressure tests would be my next step.
Hi I my company has a Toyota forklift model #8FGCU30. Original problem was lift jerking when in forward gear then lift was not driving forward or reverse. We changed both solenoids, torque converter and replaced all the parts in the transmission. Now lift moves forward but does not reverse, engine only revs. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks.

I think what you are referring to is the inching valve. On a forklift the third pedal is called an inching pedal which releases the forward or reverse clutch for the operator to feather the movement of the forklift or to release the clutch completely.
i have attended one concern for Toyota forklift. in this forklift up and down move not working. hydraulic pump solenoid switch current do not come. all fuses ok but one relay ignition current do not come. please help me sir

+Rene Trevino well, if your truck is exactly like the one in this video then it could be a cope of things. One could be the accelerator potentiometer, the electronic throttle body, or it could be that the computer is not allowing the engine to Rev up because it sees a fault (limp mode).

Sounds like something is jamming in the brake drum going forward.

More likely but check at the relay socket. U should get 2 grounds and two 12v when the switch is engaged.

+Aldo Morales sorry bro but I'm not familiar with Yale trucks. But I would start with the reverse switch if it has any. Schematic would always help.

Check for voltage and ground going to the solenoid when the code is present. Probably a bad connection since it is intermittent.

without much info, I would start with ignition. also if you know how to use a vacuum gauge, check to see if your engine is breathing properly.

+Rene Trevino the MIL would be lit, it would start and idle but would not accelerate. There is no reset for limp mode until the problem is fixed.

you went the excess way to diagnose......just apply direction switch and test at the 2 wire for signal......done!
