When i first heard this song i was blown away by how Sabaton-y it sounds. I felt really silly when i found out its not a Sabaton original but instead a cover. But when you think about it, a song written in Sabaton style, then Sabatonified by Sabaton, ofcourse it came out sounding Sabaton as hell.

I like the contrast in the music video where the German commander was standing in a secure bunker, while the Soviet commander was sitting in a wooden hut.
I rarely saw you reacting with such enthusiasm! Radio Tapok made reference to the battle of Borodino, which makes me think that the Germans invading Russia in 1941 made the same mistake as the French in 1812: they underestimated the people, the distances and the weather.

Defence of Moscow is such a banger and has a special place in my heart. I listened to it at 12 am when the song released on spotify I watched the music video when it premiered, I even ordered the limited edition vinyl version of the song, just to have it because I found it that awesome. (Actually the first and only piece of merch I ever bought from a band). The lyrics, the sound, the music video, even the fucking cover art is awesome. Really glad you enjoyed it.

I hadn't actually listened to Radio Tapoks version, I assumed it sounded so much Sabaton because Radio Tapok just overdid it. But no, it was Sabaton themselves who over-sabatonized it. :) One overlooked cover they have done is "Långa bollar på Bengt" by "Svenne Rubins". It's definately nuts, a mixed bag of it. :D

Thanx Touchy! This is probably my favorite Sabaton song (and it's not even on an album!). I do feel weird liking this song with current world events.. but this is just too awesome. Oh the history videos is gonna take a while, since Sabaton is on tour at the moment... so we all have to wait impatiently I'm still here .. flat sound on that last video not withstanding... Pity they haven't really had a chance to play it live due to a stupid virus, and now the dumb war that's all kinds of mixed nuts, it might be on the backburner .. we'll see I guess.
The best covers Sabaton have done imo are 'In The Army Now' and 'Twilight Of The Thunder God' which is an Amon Amarth song (Swedish Viking Death metal band). I think you will really enjoy both of them 👍. Just as much as you enjoy Mixed Nuts 😉

They've both already been mentioned but my 2 favourite covers sabaton have done has to be 'Camouflage' and 'All Guns Blazing'. Obviously a very different vocal style compared to the original when it comes to the Judas Priest cover, but the strangest part has to be that they actually did a Sabaton history episode for it.
I personally think, and would highly recommend to hear, not sure if this is a cover but still an awesome song called Man Of War, and it is, well, a tribute to Manowar.
All Guns Blazing is an amazing cover, probably my favourite among the covers. Defence of Moscow doesn't feel like cover, it feels more like a proper Sabaton song

And we have the photos and footage how they met "Hitler the Liberator", bringing him the welcome "bread and salt" (usual symbolic gift for the long-awaited welcomed visitor) and flowers. Marshall Konev led the "Liberation of Kiev" operation. Decades later the "liberated ones" destroyed the monument, erected for his honour. And they wearing the swastikas, SS runes (two lightnings) and the "1488" logo... I'm not into discussing the politics here. Just small sidenotes.
This is a good song. However, RadioTapok and Sabbaton are slightly different songs. Sabbaton has a heavier and more epic version with the words "Stalin gave the order." RadioTapok have a more real "Motherland will never forget you." With the faces of real soldiers. Stalin comes and goes, but we will never forget them. "The Immortal Regiment" is proof of this.

I've been watching along with Indy Neidell's World War Two Channel since some time in late 1940-early 41 and I watched the whole of Barbarossa and Typhoon play out in real time and Indy really really makes a point to drive home just how much of war is ordinary people suffering at the hands of dictators. If we're just looking at leaders here, we can't exactly pick out who was the "hero" between Hitler and Stalin. But we can very easily say that every Soviet who helped in any way to defend their homeland was a hero and their heroism deserves to be remembered and honored. And we can remember and honor the heroism of defending one's homeland from invasion by a megalomaniacal dictator while also supporting Ukraine in whatever ways we can. I figure it might not go over well for Sabaton to play it at a concert in Poland or Finland, for example, but I'm still gonna enjoy it.

For example, every non-Soviet cosmonaut's flight was paid by his country. But Mongolian cosmonaut Gurragzha's flight was entirely paid by the USSR)

Russians see it as continuation of great patriotic war from what I heard. I saw videos of Ukrainian azov bases full of N@z1 symbols and literature, some don't even hide it. It's sad what's going on now, but It looks like Russia had no choice. Not all in Ukraine are N@z1s ,but those who are were dictating others how to live and what language to speak. When Zelenskiy came to the front lines and ordered nationalists to remove heavy weapons and deescalate fighting, he was told to f@ck @ff. And since then he was doing what they told him. He closed all opposition Media and political parties during his term.

Thanx Touchy! This is probably my favorite Sabaton song (and it's not even on an album!). I do feel weird liking this song with current world events.. but this is just too awesome. Oh the history videos is gonna take a while, since Sabaton is on tour at the moment... so we all have to wait impatiently
I'm still here .. flat sound on that last video not withstanding... Pity they haven't really had a chance to play it live due to a stupid virus, and now the dumb war that's all kinds of mixed nuts, it might be on the backburner .. we'll see I guess.

The best covers Sabaton have done imo are 'In The Army Now' and 'Twilight Of The Thunder God' which is an Amon Amarth song (Swedish Viking Death metal band). I think you will really enjoy both of them 👍. Just as much as you enjoy Mixed Nuts 😉

For me it is definitely Kingdom Come, love that song! Both the original and the cover
They've both already been mentioned but my 2 favourite covers sabaton have done has to be 'Camouflage' and 'All Guns Blazing'. Obviously a very different vocal style compared to the original when it comes to the Judas Priest cover, but the strangest part has to be that they actually did a Sabaton history episode for it.

I personally think, and would highly recommend to hear, not sure if this is a cover but still an awesome song called Man Of War, and it is, well, a tribute to Manowar.

All Guns Blazing is an amazing cover, probably my favourite among the covers. Defence of Moscow doesn't feel like cover, it feels more like a proper Sabaton song

This is a good song. However, RadioTapok and Sabbaton are slightly different songs. Sabbaton has a heavier and more epic version with the words "Stalin gave the order." RadioTapok have a more real "Motherland will never forget you." With the faces of real soldiers. Stalin comes and goes, but we will never forget them. "The Immortal Regiment" is proof of this.

I've been watching along with Indy Neidell's World War Two Channel since some time in late 1940-early 41 and I watched the whole of Barbarossa and Typhoon play out in real time and Indy really really makes a point to drive home just how much of war is ordinary people suffering at the hands of dictators. If we're just looking at leaders here, we can't exactly pick out who was the "hero" between Hitler and Stalin. But we can very easily say that every Soviet who helped in any way to defend their homeland was a hero and their heroism deserves to be remembered and honored. And we can remember and honor the heroism of defending one's homeland from invasion by a megalomaniacal dictator while also supporting Ukraine in whatever ways we can.
I figure it might not go over well for Sabaton to play it at a concert in Poland or Finland, for example, but I'm still gonna enjoy it.

Russians see it as continuation of great patriotic war from what I heard. I saw videos of Ukrainian azov bases full of N@z1 symbols and literature, some don't even hide it. It's sad what's going on now, but It looks like Russia had no choice. Not all in Ukraine are N@z1s ,but those who are were dictating others how to live and what language to speak. When Zelenskiy came to the front lines and ordered nationalists to remove heavy weapons and deescalate fighting, he was told to f@ck @ff. And since then he was doing what they told him. He closed all opposition Media and political parties during his term.

I'm not going to go on a rant or anything, but I'll just say the following. Hearing this song and knowing what Russia endured at the hands of the Nazis during World War II seeing what's been happening in Ukraine recently is all the more frustrating. The justification, the conduct of the Russian forces, the comments by the Russian government.. all of it.

War in ukraine and property takeover from people is one diabolical business plan. 😢
