    Financial Literacy should be a MUST ATTEND class for high schoolers, and for anyone getting any type of benefits. I'm not dogging people who need help, my family got Gov help when my mom left my horrifically abusive sperm donor, but just giving money without any knowledge on how to spend it wisely and judicially is just asking for problems. We can see the problems in action in these videos. That family not knowing how much they get, what their rent is, or the outgo of the money that they spend on life's necessities. Also smoking is not only a horrible habit financially, but obviously not good for their health, and makes long term Healthcare expenses go up.

      I guess I am a little cynical but those people on the dole know exactly how much they get and at precisely what time it will hit their bank account ,,,,and the next generation is well versed by their clan on how to run the game and act naive when asked anything ,,,,as a former landlord I've seen and heard and cleaned and repaired it all ,,,,,we finally sold our property to stem the flow of our hemorrhaging wallets....sad but you can't get the kids today to stay off their phones long enough to learn money management in school nor anything else ,,,quite frankly they just don't care ... the new world order

If they don't like where they live the system finds them a new place to move to ,,,,,able bodied folk should have to earn their cheque by cleaning streets , shovelling snow , cutting grass , helping the elderly or volunteering etc for the town or even county they reside in . They are only among the 0.2% who benefit scrounge. It certainly not In excess of 20% per the authoritarian far right claim. It's certainly not rife. While it's correct to lambast them, it's pathetic to attack 20% more. Tnst what the programme is about, to make people think it's s widespread disease such as people doing everything possible to avoid employment to pay their way.
      The stupidity of those who continue to vote for the authoritarian far right tories who keep believing ridiculous nonsense no wonder it's so hard to get rid of the tories under the despicable FPTP electoral system. Starmer must work with all other non right wing opposition parties at the next general election to stop the dictatorial tories clinging to power again.

      @dvidclapperton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tattie278
      There's no proof that benefit scrounging is widespread and rife up and down the country. But that's what the diktats of the authoritarian far right tory government want people to falsely believe that it's rife in Birmingham, Newcaatle, Liverpool, Manchester, Norwich, Southsmptom, Exeter etc and make people falsely think that the last labour government caused it and that it will get even worse under a labour government for votes at the general election to keep them clinging to power. Starmer must work with all the other non right opposition parties in the UK at the general election that between all of them exceed 50% to stop another unwanted tory majority government on 34% to 36% on a low turnout.
      These programmes don't prove that it is, but are good for the tories to stoke up resentment among the general public, and maintain the tory thirst to keep controlling us. What the tories want us to believe is that benefit scrounging is widespread and rife rven though it's nowhere near what is being claimed. The real truth is the vast majority of benefit claimants who can work full time and pay their way are desperately constantly looking for full time work and stay in full time employment, only a very small minority of benefit claimants that can work are scrounging. Under a labour government, the last one (Blair then Brown), it was very strict at job centre in terms of benefit claimants being extremely busy constatly looking for full time employtment attending job interviews, it certainly never slackened off at all from the previous tory government. Signing on, leave the job centre and not have to do anything at all to look for work to try to gain employment for 2 weeks, get your giro cheque, then repeat the cycle under a labour government is the biggest very false myth there is in relation to unemployment. Changing government is no huge risk in terms of unemployment policy, things would not have slackened off under a Corbyn government had he been elected as PM.
      A myth perpetuated by the far right, creating false perceptions among enough people to vote Tory to keep them clinging to power with the assumption that labour must fight the generwl election burrowing a lone furrow, even though the tories set a precedent at the last election with the despicable Johnson colluding with the even more despicable Farage to significantly help the Tories to gain their 80 seat majority.

    Listen…I’m in 🇨🇦. And I’ve been on disability for like 8 yrs, trying to overcome my addiction. Now I’ve only recently managed to leave it behind, and have started working PT. It took me a long list of treatment and rehab, hospital stays, detoxes, and other recovery measures. I’ve tried to work - I have 50 jobs on my resume to prove it. None lasted more than 6 months before I get fired for my problems. I did have to eventually decide to not work and focus in recovering. It was so very hard a journey. Yet I am one of a thousand that actually does it. I can’t think of any addict that I knew who was on disability who actually had a desire to clean up.
    I’m just saying, for the rare person with addiction, disability made it possible for me to eventually change my life. Even though for most in my situation, all it is is a money faucet that pays for drug use. It’s sad. But just don’t put literally everyone in the same category. I’m clean now and soon I’ll be working full time and off the disability. I am not like the many. And I’m pretty grateful for that. And i hope to give back in any way I can.
    Thanks for reading this.

    Richard, about two months ago I almost died from severe pneumonia, respiratory failure, and sepsis. I have many dangerous pre-existing conditions that are truly preventing me from working. I would do anything to go back to work but I can’t. When I was sick, they had to put me on life-support and I was unconscious for three days. I have had 17 bouts of pneumonia, Covid, I very nearly had my left foot amputated due to a blood clot, and I have also had four brain surgeries to remove a large and aggressive tumor on my pituitary gland. That is something that I’m not supposed to be able to survive. In addition, I’ve been in the hospital with psychiatric issues which includes severe depression, and anxiety. Even though I’m going through all this, I still got my economy straight. My doctor said that I’m a miracle and that I’m not supposed to be alive today. Richard, you need to get your head on straight! I don’t get much money every month from Social Security. However, I’m still able to save up some money so that I have something in my bank account. It just takes a bit of discipline!

    One thing that puzzles me is, how Richard’s Mother doesn’t seems to know how much she receives on benefits, or what|| the cost of the rent is. She doesn’t seems to have any clues of her income on benifits and her expenses. I’m almost 59 and yes I do budget my money and I receive from my bank my monthly statement of both my bank accounts. (EDIT : I even have a second savings account that I put money in for things like reading glasses I need.)

Lazy , entitled people are the worst, but I tend to agree a little with the guy complaining about the immigrants, they should have to work for at least a couple years before they can claim British handouts

    You get over $1,000 a month and your rent is $500 and the state pays $385 so that leaves you to pay $115 a month. How on earth is it that hard to pay $115 a month for rent and now your getting evicted because you have not paid? Im just completely baffled!
