There's literally a song for every single mood on this album and that's freaking awesome. One problem I had with Appeal to Reason and Endgame was that the majority of the songs on those albums seemed to have a similar message, but here there's just so many different styles. Upbeat and uplifting, adrenaline pumping and angry, depressing and introspective, political and loud, soft and potent. Great album. Love every second of it. The only one I'm iffy on is Sudden Life, but I'm sure it'll grow on me before the month is over.
That's what caught me off guard about this album they were right it was something different very stand alone still rise against but not what we usually hear when I first heard it like it's good sounds like them but listening to it it's different in every song has everything standing out and it makes this album stand out without it focusing on just one rhythm and idea
I got to say, as a long time fan of Rise Against, I love this album, I loved every single song on this album, Rise Against always inspired me to be a more open, helpful and assertive person. I hope they get to record songs that they only played live like "Fell for" (Restless World), "It's late" and "What are we gonna do?". These were really amazing acoustic songs Tim played.
I think this guys really deserve respect. They've put a lot of effort, and working in every single detail they have kept the real meaning of music :D I'm so glad they've evolved as a band, they're simply awesome. Thank you for everything!
I actually think this might be my favourite Rise against album. Been listening to it loads for the past 2 months & love every song on it especially The black market & Sudden life
I have heard all the songs, and the best ones are: The black market, Tragedy+ time, Beautiful indifference and Methadone. Especially methadone is new, different and amazing. "What would it take for you to notice. That I'm a hand grenade, pin already pulled so don't let go."
I've loved every single Rise Against album since The unraveling. Every time a new album comes out I'm always amazed at how these guys can top themselves each time. Seriously, love everything you guys do, keep it up!
Rise Against is too damm talented :) i believe that whatever they've made is going to be outstanding and just from the song I dont want to be here anymore, i believe in them i feel them im happy loving them
I've listened to the new album (leaked on certain torrent websites) and I totally get when they said that this album sounds different from all their other albums. Some of the songs have some subtle folk elements that give the song a down to earth feeling, I especially noticed the folk vibe in "The Great Die-Off", "Zero Visibility" and "The Black Market"; it's subtle but it's there and I like it because it's not like anything from any previous RA album. This album certainly isn't as heavy and in your face say as Siren Song of the Counter Culture. The songs are a lot more introspective than previous Rise Against songs, a lot of the new songs have the same vibe as some Bad Religion songs (at least to me anyway). This album seems a bit more complex with the instrumentation, there's a wider range of drum patterns and techniques and there are also a wide range of different guitar tones and melodies from song to song. I will say that the guitar riff/melody from "Zero Visibility" sounds quite similar to Nickelback's "Burn it To The Ground". I will say that "The Eco-Terrorist in Me" is the heaviest song on the album in my opinion, and that I think "People Live Here" is a beautiful song.
It's weird. As much as I've enjoyed The Sufferer and The Witness and Appeal to Reason (and thought Endgame was sporadically brilliant), I find myself LOVING the new record. It's true they are not as out and out aggressive as they were in 2003, but it's not like it's a Peter, Paul, and Mary album. It's introspective and personal, and I'm not sure many RA fans expected this. I wouldn't rate it as high as Sufferer, but it's just as good as Appeal or Siren's Song. I wish they would work almost every song into the live set. I'm not saying that this should be their direction going forward, nor do I necessarily want The Black Market 2: Return Of The Black Market as their next album. But this was a beautiful and tremendous gift from Rise Against.
I really enjoy the new album and I gotta say it's one of the best. I really like the fact that Rise Against try to change there sound each album, it makes each new album feel fresh. My favourite tracks are Tragedy + Time, The Black Market, People Live Here and Awake to Long.
Rise Against is easily one of (if not THE) most consistent modern rock bands. Seven albums so far and each one is full of nothing but straight up quality rock music. I'd say The Sufferer and The Witness was the climax of the career where they both had the best songs overall and finally found their signature style/blend of punk and modern rock/metal. To me, Appeal to Reason was a little more commercial/pop and Endgame was more heavy and straight up rock. Black Market seems a little more dynamic and experimental with folk elements. I can't wait to see what they do for their next record. Personally, I would love to see them put out the heaviest record of their career and experiment with long progressive epic songs similar to Metallica.
Fantastic keep up the great work guys glad you had a year break the contents quality has not changed still awesome as always and the bond you guys have is clearly still as strong as it always will be :D
If I taught music, this would be the band I would show. Because they are *aware* . That's something that needs to be said. A lot of bands *think* they know how they want to sound. Not a lot of people can pass that mark. You want your band to be good? Realize no one can be a diva. Allow yourself criticism. Realize there will always be those better than you, so be better than yourself. Put up and shut up. Thankfully, I'm not a teacher, yet, but if I ever become one, this is the video to show students.
Haha im a bass player and I just got the ampeg head Joe used to record "the black market" ....HIS ACTUAL HEAD!!!...😮 got the COA with it...pretty sweet. Sounds awesome 👌 👏
Does Tim really naturally have two diffrent eyecolours? That would be cool :D and of course nice work guys really look forward to the new record! Will be awesome :D
It was the 2 year anniversary of "Wolves" and Rise Against has posted on Instagram the board showing which tracks of the songs are done and which are not. This reminded me of the board shown in this video that I took a screenshot of a few months ago. Since the song names on the board are different from the names of the song in the finished album I decided to investigate and pair new and old names. While doing it, I somehow drifted into Making an Instrumental edit of the song "The Black Market". It took me around 6 hours in total to do all of this. So here I am, about to go to bed, listening to the Instrumental version I made, remembering that I haven't finished watching this video. and just about when the video ends guess what? 15:04 The board. What a nice way to end the day. By the way I'm not writing this because I think it's interesting, I'm just using comments as "notes to self". In case you wonder what the names are, here's what I know: A Beautiful Indifference Walk Away Methadone What Would It Take Escape Artists One That Got Away I know, pretty obvious stuff, but good luck understanding which song was called "We Are (Stoner)" or "M F".
Sattelite- Prayer of the Refugee Give it all The good left undone make it stop there are 3 songs by rise against I dislike. and that is due to the instrumental :P love the band :) listened to them a while now 5yrs
Hero Of War, Help is On the Way, Architects, Long Forgotten Sons, Lanterns, Paper Wings, Chamber The Cartridge, Everchanging, Reception Fades, and Torches are my top 10 rise against songs. Not in that order.
I am so pleased that I discovered this band! I've been looking for a great new music for unreasonably long! *watch?v=js6TBze6vNA* You undoubtedly should check this out! Take a look at the youtube URL, you are going to like it!!
My opinion so don't shit on me. I've been a Rise Against fan for 4 years. I discovered them by hearing their track Like The Angel on Tony Hawks underground for the GameCube. My personal favourite album of theirs is RPM Or Appeal To Reason. And with me being insanely excited for their new album going into this I thought it was going to flawless. But boy was I wrong I thought the album was full of cliche songs and re-hashes of suffer of the witness and endgame. The only song I thought sounded original and fresh was methadone and the eco terrorist in me. I thought the album was a huge letdown.
Personally I just don't think you watched any of this video, where they explained everything. They're people who love music. Don't expect the same. And if you do get the same stuff then that band is clearly never gonna evolve or be a good band ever again.
Alive And Well,State Of The Union,re-education,The Art Of Losing, all to The sufferer & the witness, Blood To Bleed,Join The Ranks, Obstructed View,Give it all, Heaven knows.... Yo me enamoré de eso, no me defraudéis.....
too fast ;D I think I recognize it, but I can't figure out the song. I guess I'll know when I listen to the record on my way home later on. wait..maybe 'I don't want to be here anymore"..i think
Yeah, it's the bridge, right after the second chorus. But it's quite different from what you can hear in this video, which is more beautiful, but I think it didn't work out with all the drums and guitars.
+Neven H. Thank you! My comment was actually about the list of song names at 15:04 and not the song playing at that time!! I think it was "Tim Eat World" that made me go "omg"
There's literally a song for every single mood on this album and that's freaking awesome. "Literally".....i don't think that word means what you think it means.
How do you get to hear the songs
caleb ahrens You can stream the album on iTunes. I think it's still available.
That's what caught me off guard about this album they were right it was something different very stand alone still rise against but not what we usually hear when I first heard it like it's good sounds like them but listening to it it's different in every song has everything standing out and it makes this album stand out without it focusing on just one rhythm and idea
Chris Ray Gun Chris! You are my favorite youtuber and a fan of my favorite band. Glorious day!
I got to say, as a long time fan of Rise Against, I love this album, I loved every single song on this album, Rise Against always inspired me to be a more open, helpful and assertive person. Gosh, man, it's been 10 years. And this is still my favorite album out there.
Joe's bass tone is so growly, definitely in my top 5 favorite bass tones.
I think this guys really deserve respect. They've put a lot of effort, and working in every single detail they have kept the real meaning of music :D I'm so glad they've evolved as a band, they're simply awesome. Thank you for everything!
This is so underrated
I can't stop listening to the album on iTunes Radio. Every song is fucking fantastic
I actually think this might be my favourite Rise against album. Been listening to it loads for the past 2 months & love every song on it especially The black market & Sudden life
"People Live Here" is the next "Hero Of War" in terms of Tim doing an acoustic set live. I love the song and I can't wait.
The best album "The Black Market"
I have heard all the songs, and the best ones are: The black market, Tragedy+ time, Beautiful indifference and Methadone.
Especially methadone is new, different and amazing. "What would it take for you to notice. That I'm a hand grenade, pin already pulled so don't let go."
people live here is an absolutely beautiful song, but all of the songs off this album are great :D
Really love the songs sudden life and the black market.
Sudden life is probably my least favourite on the album, it's not bad, it's just a little uninspiring. Love the black market though
great album
I'm SO ready for this.
Please come to Portugal guys... I'M BEGGING YOU
I can't wait. I get my tattoo on Monday and then the cd on Tuesday. That's gunna be a great week.

Ironic that an album called "The Black Market" gets leaked lol.
People Live Here brings a tear to my eye everytime I hear it.
out of 10 what would you rate the album?
I agree with most of this. But IMO, it kind of sounded like a more introspective version of RPM
What's the website?
You are amazing! really! please come to Mexico!
3:52 note to self
the music being played is the bridge of Tragedy+Time
It's already out on piratebay. Buying the album when it comes out though

i like the space heater in the center of the band .-. cause they want the album to be hot.
So excited for this! yeeeahhh /,,/
That's awesome! They listen to Rush
One of their best albums in my opinion, really gets me pissed off thinking about the way the country we live in is run.
Where the hell is everyone hearing these songs at? Album comes out on July 15th.
It came on Spotify yesterday, thats where i listened it.
***** Can't find it on spotify? Or maybe somewhere else on the internet..

Yes he does its called Heterochromia Iridum. Its a rare ginetic trait that cause one eye to have less melanin then the other.
Dan Fanti
Wow ok! thanks for the answer :)

I really feel the alternative rock/punk industry let the Occupy Movement down.

I was also looking for it, I've heard the full album but it isn't on there... maybe it's the bonus song Escape Artists?
It's Escape Artists, the bonus track
Yeah just what I expected :) already downloaded it, great song! But thanks anyways!
COME TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC
YAwn
just come after watching the ghost note symphonies vol 1
What is that bass line at 8:40?
too fast ;D I think I recognize it, but I can't figure out the song. I guess I'll know when I listen to the record on my way home later on. wait..maybe 'I don't want to be here anymore"..i think
Now I think it's from The Black Market, where the rhythm breaks down to the slower, or kind of more melodic part..
I think it's from a beautiful indifference
Yeah, it's the bridge, right after the second chorus. But it's quite different from what you can hear in this video, which is more beautiful, but I think it didn't work out with all the drums and guitars.
The song names at 15:04 omg
+Neven H. Thank you! My comment was actually about the list of song names at 15:04 and not the song playing at that time!! I think it was "Tim Eat World" that made me go "omg"
Can I just listen to Joe's Bass lines without anything over it or it cutting off? Please?
Where's the song called heads unwrothy
