    I've found personally that the 140 ish rear travel is about right for almost all situation except for like big bike park stuff...but I never ride that and not into jump lines. Blacks and double blacks...no problem, blues...piece of cake...seems the 30ish lbs bike is the norm for trail bikes. Nice looking bike though, bravo Specialized for making less choices! I also have the Mavens on my bike, they are crazy good, I love having more power then less.

      The main stress on the linkage behind the seat post and under your seat is the flexiest application of the Horst 4 bar link. I have been on Spesh Stumpys and Enduros for decades and gone through bushings and pivot bolts breaking or wearing out constantly. The clevis design sucks bc there is too much lateral torque when pedaling. My Rocky Mountain Instinct has has a one piece carbon seat stay that goes around the seat tube and all linkage is under you body weight when leaning onto the bars. Not under your ass. This bike looks as if Spseh is cutting engineering payroll. "Innovate until you die!"

      Specialized 2.3's are really closer to 2.4.
      Eliminator/Butcher combo has very good grip, but slow rolling and a drag uphill. I still use 'em for park days.
      Just mounted up a set of Schwalbe: Wicked Will Super Trail Speedgrip rear and Tacky Chan Super Trail Soft front. Absolutely sick combo, but not cheap. At least as fast rolling as Maxxis Rekon/Dissector combo, but much more grip.

    How do you compare the Epic Evo to this new stumpy ? I am coming from a Megatower looking for an XC/Trail bike as my analog bike now for more efficiency on the climbs and was about to go with the Epic Evo or an SB120. But now wondering if this new stumpy setup in the high Geo setting might be the best of both ? Is there any overlap between the two bikes having ridden both ?

    • @jctrails
      @jctrails  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Are you keeping your Mega? If so I would go with the Epic. If not get a stumpy.

    • @duffyrides
      @duffyrides 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jctrails no I sold the Megatower. Have been riding mainly road bikes and some road racing this past year but missing my mountain bikes. Most of the guys I rode with have moved to E-MTBs for the enduro riding now. I might get an Emtb for the downhill laps eventually but right now I want a mountain bike that I can have some long mornings in the saddle on while also setting some good serpent times and jumping off any jump I can find on the way down. I know the epic will require you to pick a line and I don’t mind that as I’m an active rider with a motocross background. But I’m wondering now if this new Stumpy might be efficient enough on flat roads and climbs (in other words a lot better than the Mega or any enduro bike ). The other option I’m looking at is the SB120 as CC has some crazy deals on at the moment (5999 for u Turq model with factory suspension and X01 ). Not sure which one to go for !
