Recently, I decided to start developing a game in one of my favorite game genres: RPG. A role-play game is a game that allows you to immerse yourself in a new world and become a fantasy character. However, I'm going to be focusing on the typical RPG, where the player goes through dungeons and slays enemies for gold. In this devlog we develop combat, looting, enemies, and so much more! But, I recommend to remake the combat, because 90% of rpg games like your in roblox has the same combat mechanics, you should add:
1. Swing delay
2. Blocking/parrying
3. Dashing (any direction)
4. Buff enemies so u cant just spam attack, they can block, dodging etc.
This will really spice up the combat and make the game special!
also make legendary items unique, not just a bigger number. also the game right now seems much more like a roguelite with the infinite rooms
r6 would be better for ur game and u should add animation like walking or running or swing things

The dani type of editing style is actually so cool. But, you are your own person and this looks absolutely amazing.
I got a couple of ideas,
• make it possible for ranged enemies melee so they can't be killed easily
• There should be parrying, but not deepwoken type parrying, more like leaning onto smash bros where it's a frame
• there should be classes so every person feels important in their role (please add pirate class😭)
• you should make each enemy feel like they're a threat more than an obstacle by giving them attacks different attacks,such as the zombie having a grab attack that you either have to mash out or get a friend to help you
• maybe energy implemented like legend of zelda so they cant spam anything too much
• i know you started so you have a ton of ideas but what about player animations? Just seeing the nomral roblox walk takes away the intrest and makes it seem more of a copy and paste game (for me)
other than that this seems pretty straightcant wait to play it
i hope a necromancer class is available, it would be op

I would suggest adding more objects and secrets to the maps! Such as perhaps you could have breakable items and chests around each level and you could also have different level designs with unique differences such as perhaps in one level there could be a mountain that the player needs to climb or a bridge that you can build to access a secret level or you could have levels with different pathways that lead to different levels. The game will get repetitive if you don’t add unique playability and fun features that the player enjoy. Lastly, i suggest adding cool abilities both out of levels and in levels and perhaps you could have levels that have buffs/abilities that you can unlock, buy, find or save for deeper levels.

Hey here's some idea's for you!
1. Magical weapons that you can find at a temple it can have the powers of shooting fire.lazers ect.
2. Awakening's when you reach a kill count of like 100 or 50 your character gets a form
3. Job's/mission's you receive money
4. Multiplayer?
5. setting spawn points at beds
If you do at least one of the first three things I will be happy

this is kinda like a rouge like, beat levels , get better weapons , die , repeat . i think you should add shields and a parry feature too idk if u would wnat to but that could be a great idea
btw u should add different materials like : wood , stone , diamond , gold , etc for the crafting in the lobby , and i think you should add some type of enchanting or enhance table for the weapons it could be useful for givin your weapons special properties like attacks freezes enemys or turn on fire your enemies , i know you mb will not read this but ill keep giving you ideas in this comment
another idea : add a trade hub or smth like that were you can trade higher tier weapons whit other players , it could be excellent if u could add bosses
example every 10 levels this boss appears , next floor gonna be 20 or 15 levels for the next boss

I recommend that you add shiny enemies, they have a better chance of dropping better weapons and more exp, I also recommend that with each further progress it becomes more difficult having bosses, and also if you add bosses that you have their intros for the first time, I hope so bro May you achieve all your goals 😁😁

That game look wonderful!
But some other things you need do for an good RPG is:
1. Nice Health Bar UI
2. Level System and Upgrades (Also when u damaged appear an red highlight when u damaged, and an special effect when u level up)
3. Skill Tree (like if each block or parry you do, you get 5% of health)
4. Block/Parry System (this will be fire for code...)
5. Innovative enemies, each enemy that you maked don't are bad but you can see these enemys on very games (i recommend play Pilgrammed or Deepwoken for some ideas)
6. Lore??? (PROBABLY AN BAD IDEA BUT THIS CAN BE FIRE)
7. Customized animations, yes you have did some but im saying VERY custom animations (this can be boring) like an idle and walk animation, some holding sword, three swings with sword, unequip animation and bla bla bla..
8. Weapons on back, just then but on your back of torso when u unequiped that (if have katana, he need be on ur waist)
9. Discord server for we send some ideas!!! (And probably some peoples will want help you on the game!)

I really like this, and the current progress looks great!
One thing that would be very nice is class composition. This can be done by making weapons with other passives, such as a staff that shoots projectiles for a magic-class, a book/tome to heal for a healer class, or a shield that absorbs nearby damage for a tank class.
This not only gives a variety of gameplay types, but also connects very well to a multiplayer system, which I can only say good luck on.
Good ideas

1- you can choose what you want to be, like an archer or a swordsman or a mage or a summoner idk.
2- race, you can be an elf or a dwarf or human and more and every race has its special effects, idk how to get ur race you make the choice.
3- every high tier weapon has its own abilities like idk fire looking sword that could become a very big firey sword and hit far enemies idk.
I ran out of ideas, i mean I have more but idk I feel like if you add those it will look like another games, you don’t need to make any it’s ur choice, I just realised how many times have I said idk?.

Once this has co-op capabilities like being able to do dungeons together with your friends and a revive system for said friends its gonna be a hit. Please keep working on this!

you should add:
endlags for weapons
abilities
stamina (for dashing)
diffrent classes (you cant pick up the weapon thats used by a diff class)
movement mechanics

I always wanted to play a rpg fantasy like with slimes , goblins, dragons, a level stat system, rare power and items,PvP and to give enemies a ai so they can wonder the world their in instead of staying in the same spawn area
I would suggest adding a class system for the player to make gameplay more unique, and a skill tree would be a really cool addition to this feature. Just imagine classes similar to those in terreria with skill tree paths that focus on certain skills/attributes like in diaoblo IV. I know it would be time consuming and difficult to add these ideas, but it will definitely make the gameplay loops more interesting and increase replay ability.
this game looks very nice.
for me personally i like games where it literally puts you in a constant adrenaline rush. how do you do that?
simple, make the combat harder. here are some suggestions:
1. hits to the head deals more damage ( this works for both players and enemies )
2. buff the enemies to make them (almost) as strong as the player
3. enemies can dash away from your attacks
4. blocks and parries ; blocks will reduce the damage while parries fully negates them
5. traps
6. make enemies have a diverse attack pattern
7. a goblin with a MG42
but to be honest this game is looking great so far, can't wait to see the next devlogs.
Maybe add some ranged attacks, and special abilities? The game looks great and I think that it could be a great game! KEEP WORKING ON IT! :D

Cool game! i recomend to make the combat very satisfying (maybe add more sounds, effects when enemies get hit, etc) cause it will carry the game heavily
Suggest: Make the starter charater be the same, like is R6 and idk you have a blue torso and you can add if you want a customization coolor for the body parts and yea. Cool game I apreciate the work for us to see. If you like my idea just reply to it I will be really happy.

Well you see, most of people like the games to look old. And the character must look exactly as the game design, if you have a roblox 2024 character avatar or whatever it's called, and the game is like voxblade or bloxy, the avatar is not matchy, and the game does't have a cool look on it.

I think ragdoll physics would be a good addition
game looks awesome so far! something cool to add maybe is after you beat a certain amount of "grass levels" (the ones showed up in the video), you can summon a boss which you could defeat to go onto more levels, maybe a snow level or something. If you want the summoning to not be free, an idea i also had was having items get dropped from the npcs too, items to help you then items to summon bosses (misc items). Also something unique in rpg games are the abilities. I recommend adding them to help the player beating tougher enemies. RPG games also have secrets, so abilities can be helpful in that category (e.g. like a fireball can burn ice down for a secret item).
its more of a rogue-like, I LOVE myself a good roblox RPG. and i dont think this is one
so here are some tips to make it more RPGish
1: make it an open world instead of rounds, this makes the game feel more open and urges the player to explore what the map has to offer and find all of its secrets
2: another rpg named swordburst 2 does the open world great. They have a lobby (arcadia) and then they have floor 1, you explore the map and you find harder enemies the deeper you go, and then at the end of the map, there is a dungeon. the dungeon is a maze with hard enemies to defeat and once you reach the end, its a big boss battle which you either need the best gear, or a group of people to defeat the boss, and then it repeats with different floors and each floor has its own enemies and theme
3: delete merging and instead make a dismantle system where you destroy a sword for an upgrade crystal, so like you dismantle a common sword for a common crystal, and legendary for legendary, that would be how you upgrade the swords you have, also make a cap for how much you can upgrade.
4: do NOT add pets, pets are the worst thing you can add to an rpg because it deletes the whole fantasy vibe
5: add mounts, they are like pets but instead of boosting stats, they let you travel the open world map faster, you could also add flying mounts to make the game fun, and maybe a special world that needs a flying mount to get to.
6: FIX YOUR COMBAT, listen to the people in the comments that are saying to add parrying and swing delay and dashing and stuff. most games have the basic combat like in your game, AND ITS NOT FUN, make the combat challenging for the player so that they dont get so bored they quit before they get to the good parts. I'm SO excited to see what you will cook for us hungry children.

for each map (if you decide to make it an open world) have atleast 1 miniboss and 1 main boss, the mini boss is a boss you can kill by yourself, it its still a challenge, this will get you some good gear for the main boss of the world.
please make the XP rates good, i recommend you should kill like atleast 15-30 of the enemy your level before you level up once
make each world (if you decide to make it an open world) have levels, like world 1 is level 0-20 and world 2 is 20-50 world 3 50-75 then world 4 to 75-100

Sword merging is a good idea ngl , maybe you are able to merge 2 different but same rarity items to get an enchanted item of sorts
I think you should make it so the characters move in a retro like way and the attacks work with them cohesively to look like a true retro sword swing (or modern, if that’s what you prefer)

here are ideas maybe you can take:
1.add traps in every levels.
2.make other class weapons.
3.make bosses.
4. add a feature where"if you add a summomer class"they get souls from enemies which can be transformed as minions.
5.add a system which the more you use a weapon the more you inflict damage.
6.add a skill tree which give buffs for classes like swordsman,mage,archer,summoner.
7.add potions which can be dropped by monster example potion of damage, health and ect.
8.add npc which give you quest.

You should add raids and include a boss. Here is the boss suggestion: Name: Dreadvolk Carus- Has a monster like sword and has a smashing attack can roll and swing. You can add a feature that you can parry the swing. Btw the appearance is like a dark knight with crow armor
something that you should add much much later is equipment that that have special effects depending on a variable in the sword. like an equipment that gives crits on backstab with dagger type swords. you could also give it to armors. it just makes the make less repetitive because now you got to decide what to use instead of just equipping the rarest sword.
My problem is that there isn’t really that many unique concepts at all, right now it’s just swing, dodge, win and get better.
Here’s a few things that i want added, please take into consideration.
-More risk, more reward (not like dificulties or anything…)
-I know i feel like i have already said this in some way. Dont just make a dungeon quest game there’s already quite a few of them.
-Implement timing.
-Make enemies do things that the player would do in their own playthrough, like be able to make choices based on their position, health and as well as the players health. Although complex, it’ll make it quite interesting. Like a confident Brave enemy that’s actually just a scardey cat when they’re in a bad position (low health) And get cocky when your low and just run after you swinging a sword. Like make them realistic.
-Add buffs you can get, like break rooms.
-Multi-Choice Routes with varying Difficulty and reward.
-Customizable avatar that follows the actual style. (do this to the enemy’s to.)
-Take some inspiration from cult of the lamb, i know it’s a weird suggestion but yk.

1: the syndicate (is an assassin exept better and get via badge)
2: royal knight (deals lots of damage at the cost of speed and attack cooldown)

Suggestion: Although this would take a while, you should try to add player customization or re-model the enemies so they fit the pixel look of the game. As I stated, this would take a while, but it would make the game feel much more immersive.

5:43 be careful of stuns, multiple giants could end up permanently stun locking the player. My favorite way is having repeated stuns last a shorter amount each time, but a short stun immunity is always good

man this brings me back to the days where danidev uploaded
I'd say replace armors giving HP with a defense stat, every one DEF on an armor will remove 0.1 DMG from an incoming attack or something
Make more types of weapons with different attack types
Axes/Maces that are harder to swing and deal more DMG.
Spears that you stab forwards with and can attack much faster in bursts
You get the picture
Walking and running toggle that accelerates as you have it in use instead of instantly making you faster
A dodging mechanic that allows you to weave around enemy attacks and gain a chance to strike via a slowdown for the world around you
A dodge signal that appears when you need to dodge, and changes colors when you can perfect dodge (the mechanic above)
Blocking attacks via block stances (Left, right, down, center, up)
A stamina mechanic that drains when you run, dodge, or successfully block an attack, and replenishes while standing still, running out of stamina causes your character to briefly be vulnerable to attacks
Intense Bossfight “dodging”
Add some movement like rolls and dives.I think it would be awesome if u could dive and do a vertical slash.also maybe sliding
Make chests randomly spawn every once in a while, and some of the chests can be mimics
You should add bosses, new worlds, new worlds may have different enemies, however this is getting harder than you see, if you reach stage 10, a boss will appear out of nowhere.
Make each weapon have a cool, unique swing pattern. I feel like rarer swords should have more than just flashy looks, but flashy attacks too. Maybe also add a heavy attack, different weapon types or classes, & make the AI able to block, so that it will have a chance lol. Heavy attacks could do more damage & break blocks, but stun the player if they are missed. I dunno, I’m just spouting ranting stuff here.😅

Idea: Make it so that the enemies (or zombies idk) can use some of the swords, then when you defeat them you can get the sword, or a sword fragment. Get three sword fragments and a handle (type of item for a crafting system) to make the sword (the sword would obviously have to be around 3x more rare than the fragments, or crafting (if implemented) would be useless)
i dont like playing games people make even if i understand them usually but youve really got my attention on this one
You should add an open world mode, spells, mounts like big birds or boars, pets, some other weapons like bows and big hammers, some quests, shops, new biomes like snowy hills, very hot desert, too big forrrst for a forrest. New drops like artifacts that give you buffs, new enemies like a cannon guy who uses a cannon :/, dragons, orges, witches, dark elves, mutant zombie ( boss ), evil knights, ghosts (also i forgot to add the silent plains idea i had at the biomes), big spiders, skeleton swordsmen, bombers the race of the bombers will be your choice, wanderers (basically guys you trade souls with that drop from ghosts). And I'll call this update the very long awaited and also very complicated update for short just big update

Yo! i have an idea for your game. so for the shop you can add a potion/sword/armor shop and it changes everytime you join back. and it can have materials for crafting. and the best material for now should be a holy core for the best weapon for now and the materials for the best weapon (for now) should be 1 holy core 10 energy balls and 2 blue tech parts. idk if you want to add this ideas for the game but thats okay.

I smell a banger game brewing up
Sound pretty fun! i have a suggestion for your game: New combat Fightstyles. you'll start with the basic attack animations. But if you cleared few rooms... you'll choose which one fight style to place on one of the three combat slots. it's like just Endless Wander(Mobile Game app). it'll help you fight - quick, or brutal, and fancy! there are many fightstyles that will make a great combo.
I would make a set player model because having armor on your main avatar looks goofy. Your idea for this game reminds me of a video where developers took turn on creating a game they had no idea about too, idk if thats where you got inspiration but good luck!
So it's not a RPG at all? It's an action adventure roguelike. There's no RolePlaying in this Game.
That aside, this is a really cool project and I can't wait to see the progress you two make on this. :3

What will be the name of this game and when will it be realising? Also a suggestion is adding the ability to collect herbs e.g. sometimes instead of enemies spawning it will be a area dedicated to collecting certain herbs that can be used to create potions that boosts stats with the correct materials

looks extremely good i dont know why games like these are so underrated but i think for one of the shops you should add like potion shops maybe when you kill a monster you have a chance to get a skill and like a little training area to add martial arts or mages and specific types of enemies that fit your class type also Ur_bff1 is right the combat needs a little spice to it and you can make weapons with special abilities like overdrive or like a myth rarity with like a spear that can turn into any weapon you have in its slots with a max amount of 5 different weapons or like upgrades like to the spears or axes or swords like a chain on a katana and it can bee thrown at enemies to pull them closer or you can attach on objects and swing around yeah i will stop yapping now keep up the good work

Hello Fudge king, i have an idea its called a steaming rush so basiccaly it has a bar u can fill by killing enemies annd lowers if u use it the rush will power up your weapon and armor but i only goes for 10 secs and it will make your weapon slash effect have a little more effects

it always starts with melee, but some has accquired EVOLUTION and got ranged, this was first found in class 2 difficulty rpg
I think their should be a way to be able to deflect and or cut through arrows
Also it would be cool if some higher tier enemies had different attacks, for example, the Arshdeep shooting 3 arrows at once or the males shooting a beam instead of balls
Make so the players can chose classes and have a teamwork so the game is more interesting

I think there should be some elite enermies they will replace their normal variant
They have more hp more dmg and drop more exp more chance for rarer items to drop
And there must be some unique mini bosses which are spawn in the middle of the room
There still have normal enermies in the room but with ranged boss there must have meele mobs and meele boss will have ranged enermies
Miniboss will take place every 10 rooms(10-20-30..etc)
In higher room some minibosses will collab with others that means there are 2 boss in just one room
These room will have less normal enermies and there MUST have one meele boss
Could you please add a dodge role or a parry (Or both) because that can make the combat more fun. also cool game

I reccomend you to make it r6, it looks better in my opinion. since r15 movement is quite wonky and your game type is pixel, also consider adding parry and dodge mehcanic with stamina
great vid quick idea next time you could implement some worlds
Idea:
Add trade system so the player has things to do other than grinding.
Add range weapon so it can people who doesnt like close combat can still enjoy the game.
Add party system so people can play with friends (if they have any) or other people
Add mission board it has more replayability
Expand the lobby so people can just chill and look around at the lobby
Add items to make the grind easier
Add pvp so people has more things to do
Add boss that spawn every hour or so on each server lobby
Add magic system so it can suit more people style of play
Add rejoin system when you accidently leave while playing a round with other player
Add matchmaking to make it easier to find a partner to play with

You should add enchanting and different weapon classes like bows staffs etc
Some enchants could be to upgrade the weapons to do fire damage or the armor having a chance to completely block an weak attack
When is this game going to release i recommend
In the lobby there will be a multi roles of like types of mage,assasin,brawler,healer if the game is multi player it would help some other player progress on the game and i think it will be really cool! I hope you see this recommendations that would help you add on ideas to make your game much more players to like it :)! Goodluck
Idea: Add Hardcore but changes the maps into more deadly, such as the forest map in hardcore, No nature, burning trees, skeleton corpes & more
Add a potion master under the tree and you can get materials to brew potions with from enemies/around the map
