Guys, I have the same VCR. I bought it around the year 2000 along with a 20" JVC Stereo CRT TV, all with money from my first job.
I still have the VCR in original box all packed up in the basement, just in case. The TV is also still in the basement. They have zero issues.
I purchased a 50" Panasonic Viera 80 to replace the CRT in 2009. That plasma is still in use as my main TV.
Thanks for the blast from the past.
I also think it's great that you guys play 80/90s Rock and Metal on your show.

I still have a vcr but it’s a vcr/Dvd combo I used to transfer all my old videos to dvds. I also have the same clear click video capture that I got off of eBay also. I haven’t had a regular single vcr or a tv with one in years since I was a kid. eBay is great for all that stuff. I learned how to work a vcr at age 2 in 1995!! I gotta say you guys are so inspiring and awesome. I’ve commented on a bit of your videos.🙂

I had problems with capturing to my computer when the tapes had tracking problems or other glitches, it would act like nothing was wrong but the captured file might have only been the first few minutes or something. I bought that Clearclick based on Eric's recommendation a few months back, was about $150 from Amazon, and it's outstanding. It captured exactly how the tape played, glitches and all. Highly recommended if you're doing this, I can't imagine a much simpler solution.

I remember my parents not only commenting that we were gonna get cable but that they planned to buy a VCR as well. Oh man, was I excited! I had this grand scheme that I was gonna record all the metal videos from MTV. I was gonna put all the Van Halen videos on one side of a VHS tape and all the Ratt videos on the other side, Def Leppard on one side and Stryper on the other and so on and so forth! 😅

I remember being 4 years old (2009) N' watching some videos of a childrens band on the VCR. Still have the tapes and keep them as memorys N' we have a drawer underneath our T.V. filled with VHS tapes from movies N' films my dad recorded of my sisters when they were babies. We still have VHS as memorys N' even tho some movies are on DVDs, we still keep them like cassete tapes which we have a full drawer for. I'm lucky that my radio has a cassete player since the radio originally belonged to my grandma, now me. Even tho I'm a teenager N' didn't grow up in your generation, I have used some of the things you guys would use thanks to my parents being born in different decades N' my older sibilings born in the 90s N' cousins born in the 90s.

This is amazing, thank you! A while back I purchased a Roxio VHS to DVD 3 plus, looks like a little box with cords for I think $50 at Best Buy but I have yet to try to use it. I needed a VCR & I have about 8, but after moving a few years ago, they got mixed up & I dont know which ones worked & which didnt & have been afraid of trying it out. Im going to buy this Clear Click thing instead & maybe a new VCR from ebay. I never thought of looking for a new one there. I did buy a used but fully functional DVD/VCR unit there many years ago but I only searched for the exact model I was replacing. Im working on converting negatives, slides, scanning photo's & need to work on all the VHS tapes & VHS-C & Mini DV tapes too. All my kids lives are on all these tapes, plus all the Headbangers Ball videos I recorded. I have 2 of the VHS-C adapters but have to locate them, Ive misplaced them in the move. Thanks so much for all the tips, im so glad I came across your channel last fall.

Hey guys 🤙🏻 Wow, look at the difference between you shooting in 6K versus shooting it through the VCR. You guys went from being crystal clear to the blob 😂 The VCR footage was so blurry.
But that’s ok, we still gotta respect ✊🏻 our VCRs. It’s all we had to watch movies on in the 80s/early 90s. I still have a VCR (Phillips brand). It’s about 15+ years old.
Thanks for sharing the unboxing vid with us guys. A very educational video for the young, brought to you by, the old. I’m in the “old” category with you guys. I’m so old, I’m low-fi living in a high fidelity world and John Cusack is nowhere to be found. Jack Black is also MIA. 😂

I think the last VHS recorder I bought new for about 30 bucks at Walmart. 10-15 years ago maybe? I don't remember what brand but it is very light weight and feels cheap but it works. Currently not hooked up. I bought it to record family videos to DVD on a Magnavox DVD-R (which is probably also obsolete these days). I'll also mention great use of sound effects on this video. Nice job!

I think that JVC was one of the later models that was made in China. By the late 90's it was getting hard to find the Japanese brand VCR's like Panasonic and JVC still being manufactured in Japan. But JVC and Panasonic were my go-to brands. My last VCR I ever bought was a JVC I bought in the late 90's. I think I paid about $250 at the time. It was one of the last JVC's still coming from Japanese factories. Great solid VCR. Probably stopped using it around 2005 or so but it still worked. Sold it on Craigslist I think.

    • @adamn7516
      @adamn7516 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Its not so much the vhs footage itself. Its simply how many hours of video fit on thumb drive and that depends on the format you capture it in and other variables within that format. The Clearclick capture device captures in MP4 at 720p from what I saw looking at its specs so expect a 1GB file size for every hour of video.

I had the model up from this JVC Gold version Hifi Stereo and a couple of extras? Back when I was a JVC fanboy until I got this VCR.
Boy did I get a defective unit? every 30secs it would flicker with lines in the middle of the screen
Which back then I was pissed. It was for my Bedroom. It was so bad :( cost me close to $400au. The place I bought it from wouldn't replace the unit. They reckoned it was normal, and JVC also said that wasn't an issue.
Strange because I had a friend who was a bigger fanboy than me for JVC And he acted like I was crazy.
Everyone else said it was unusable but him haha... "The clouded mind sees nothing"
After that, I stopped blindly supporting tech companies.
So random a year later I got my 1st big screen TV from JVC and It lasted 1 month. cost me over $1200au back in the early 90s and it was at the JVC repair centre for 6months. they said they had to order some part from Japan? Back when stuff was still made in Japan
I completely stopped buying JVC after that. just luck of the draw really thinking back.
Now JVC is a shadow of their former self here in Australia. Their products are low-end trash nowadays and made in china

That's an intriguing device! Anything I've seen or used before requires you to connect to a computer. Interesting.

As many SD cards as you can buy! Of course, you can transfer to a hard drive, so as many hard drives as you can buy! -D

To bad Betamax never got more popular than VHS. Because Betamax tapes had way better quality than the VHS tapes.

Can usually find mom and pop shops in your city that do it. Just look up home movie conversion businesses in your area on Google. Those types of businesses will usually do digital conversions of videotapes and old 8mm home movie film.

So ahead of thr etimieBeen watching your history channel (hey you were making history ) for a while now . I sell and buy vintage toys . Let me know if you are looking for anything . Mostly 60’s-90’s. Not just toys but I love vintage toys. I have a VCR just not sure what year. I think when DVD was becoming more for the masses. I’ve got a camcorder from like early 90’s . I play instruments and I have a nearly (60’s) antique guitar with extra frets
And abalone inlay. Ibanez guitar . It’s super unique . So if you are looking for things let me know . I may not have then up on eBay but I have a whole storage unit full of vintage . O

Looks like the vcr has a minor speed issue. Might want to replace the rubber belts and put some conditioner on the pinch roller inside the new unit since it’s been sitting and the rubber belts

no, it's due to the tapes were recorded with another machine...you'll ALWAYS have those lines at the very bottom! As for that footage of his mom driving that's just deterioration of an old tape! ALL brands track differently, I traded live rock VHS/SVHS tapes all over the world since the eighties and when you get a tape from a Panasonic machine and play it in a JVC or a Mitsubishi you often have minor tracking issues. I even had a PAL unit so I could trade with Australians. Had a few connections in Japan and got killer SVHS stuff from Japan TV...their broadcast resolution was WAY better than our NTSC. Oh, how I miss those days!
