    Good video brian I would use magnets to hold plastic in place plus you only need to make one template because all you have to do is flip the template over keep up the great work

    Hi Brian - great video - are you able to name the materials you used for the flexible plastic and the decal material - thanks

      It was just a sheet of like insulating plastic. Nothing special. Decal stuff was just some 3M stuff I think

    Great work Brian! What kind of plastic did you create the template from? Have you found decal material you are happy with? I’m about to do a CB175 gas tank.
    Thanks

      I used a Weather All sheeting. Works great. I would think a heavier garbage bag could work too. As long as you can see through it a bit. I just happened to have some laying around. I haven’t got to making the decals yet so that’ll be an upcoming adventure. I feel like a car wrap kind of material would do well. It’ll need to be pretty flexible. Either way at least the templates are there. I wish I would have done this sooner on some other tanks I’ve stripped. Doh!

      @@KeepOnWrenching I have made gas tank templates out of news papers before, but they tear so easily on the curves and corners! Thanks

      Thanks! I’d live to find an SL or XL. Those don’t come around very often. Glad you’re enjoying the vids.

    Ooooh new video! Do you think it would it be counter productive to slightly heat the transfer plastics to mold to the tank better and with enough extra material so you split the plastic with a razor so it can lay flat for computer image plotting? Or is it better to heat the decal before laying it so it has the curve set before applying? Also I think marking the badge post holes as a datum point is super smart!

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t want to do that because you want it to lay flat on whatever sheet you need to cut it out of

      Ha! I’m sure you could. Should be close enough. I think I’m going to just start doing this with all my tanks. Good reference to have.
