If he started out now, I doubt they would allow him to do it at all because of insurance and when they have the budget to safely use cgi and stunt doubles.

No one had any idea that anyone could make such a high paced action movie done raw as-is.
Hong Kong action movies in the 80s are just so different from what we have in Hollywood. These movies when it comes to fights and stunts are just absolutely brutal. 80s HK Movies are made with tight budgets and the CGI wasn’t just advanced but expensive. In these movies whether you’re the main star or one of the extra playing the main bad guys’ henchmen,you’re required to be incredibly tough. A lot of the stuffs you’ve seen in the first 3 police story films such as Jackie crashing his car through a town,getting burned with a firecracker or hanging on a helicopter they’re all real.

Ever since Fortune Star got the distribution rights, they basically made the extended Japanese version the "official" version, and threw away any prints/negatives of the Hong Kong version. However, Fortune Star also switched out the Japanese credits for the Hong Kong ones and made "Hero Story" (the song playing in this video) the end credits them, instead of "I Want to Rush towards the Sky (我要衝霄)", the song that played in the Hong Kong theatrical version's credits. These are the Hong Kong credits, but with the "hero story" theme song, thanks to Fortune Star.

For many films, they “pulled a George Lucas” and actually THREW AWAY those original mono tracks, replacing them with their 5.1-channel tracks with added/altered sound effects.
