It was designed like that so people would be forced to call in plumbers for very very simple fixes. Without youtube who would know this besides someone who does it for a living. They could have easily designed this in a way that was more consumer friendly.
Trial and error. Now you can just jump on youtube and most of the idiots give you the wrong information. Luckily, this guy is mostly right (just don't ask him for directions).
DipSH!t plumber installed my new Delta valve and all I could do was get a lukewarm shower after a $12,000 shower gut/remodel...so I did a little research and found this info like others. Now after the adjustment, my shower is as hot as I WANT it to be. Thanks for such a clear video.
You are an absolute lifesaver! Thank you so much! I was going to cry if I had to take one more lukewarm shower, but this fixed my problem completely :)
This was the first time I had to replace my cartridge to stop a leak, and was surprised to see at factory they are set to barely lukewarm. I imagine many households install these and without knowing about the adjust (since they don't include instructions) instead resort to cranking up their temperature at the water heater level to scalding just to get a warm bath. Great video!
This video was the perfect solution for my situation. Same manufacturer Delta but slightly different handle, but the process to adjust temperature was exactly the same. Thank you for making this video.
Thanks SO much! I could not figure out why I was getting lukewarm water in my shower and hot water in the bathroom sink after I changed the valve cartridge. I really appreciate it!
I had this exact problem with a new tub. I haven't used it in a very long time. The water never got hot but my sink next to it has hot water. So I called the man that installed fixtures in the new bathroom and he told me to check TH-cam for adjusting the mixing valve. I hope that's the problem but it looks easy to rectify. Thanks for the video!
Thanks sir for the valuable information, you saved me hours of frustration. I followed your steps and solved the problem of not getting enough hot water on the shower.
Great video! I just installed a replacement cartridge and the water was warm not hot. After watching this video, I easily made the adjustment to hot water. thanks!!
Hey thanks for the video, my shower/bathtub faucet was leaking like crazy and after I installed a brand new delta cartridge the temps were way to cold. Thanks for showing this easy fix!
Thank you soooo much! Thought I just wasted $58 on a cartridge I couldn't use! You were right the second time...at least for my cartridge...I had to turn counter clockwise (to the left) to get my hot water. Just love not having to call a plumber for things like this!
Holy..u help solve my issue.ive tried ao many time why is not hot ..after your video, j was able to adjust the valve and got hot water.thanks to your video, now an woman can repair something for free.
Thank you - learned from your video how these delta valves are adjusted, would never have guessed to pull out the adjuster-knob - thought I was missing the max-temp stopper that is used in all the Moen and other valves.
What about water pressure adjustment? The temperature is fine. I would like the water flow to be higher. I took out the restrictor or regulator from the shower head. Same result. Other faucets in the house work fine. Thank you
I had the pressure regulator replaced. Water pressure throughout the house works much better now, especially the shower. Thanks for asking.@southernraisedexotics
I know this is years old but im staying at an airbnb and the water is freezing even at the hottest so i tried this and nothing changed. Every other shower in the house gets hot water but for some reason not the master. Any clues on what that could be?
Our Delta setup at this modern built Hotel, has a hole in the bottom of the handle, The screws are not allen like they used to be, they turned out to be a T10 after wasting too much time with all if my allen wrenches. Hope this comment helps
I wouldn't be surprised if it was purposely designed that way so people would call plumbers for very very simply fixes.. Besides plumbers who would really know you can adjust this. I didn't know. I only found out about it now because I had to replace the cartridge because the bathroom was leaking and the new one was too cold so I did a search on youtube. The new cartridge didn't even come with instruction manual about how to adjust the water temperature. Without youtube/internet I wouldn't have been able to figure this out and it's so simple.
That's the predicament that people get into ordering online from third parties, if you order through the manufacturer then you will get all the instructions needed
I think you got that backwards. The arrows show counterclockwise, moving the hashmarks to the right, to get hotter water. Clockwise, moving the hashmarks to the left, limits the range of the handle and inhibits hot water mixing. The arrows refer to how you turn, left or counterclockwise for warmer, or right clockwise, for colder.
Thank you for your video, I was able to adjust the water temperature thanks to you!!!! very much appreciate you. Question, do you know how to increase the water pressure?
The water pressure is directly related to what the city pumps to your meter and then after that whether or not your bell valve or your prv is clogged up on the screen... prv is short for pressure reducing valve... Of course there is also a restrictor built-in to most shower heads and if you take that restrictor out you'll get better pressure
If I may add you'll want a washcloth or something similar blocking the drain to catch the very small screw should it fall all the way out. Something in white would be ideal or even an old school plug.
I have this mixing control valve installed in my shower, but I’m still getting lukewarm water even when it’s turned all the way to the hot side. You may say my water heater temperature is too cold, but that is not the issue. The water coming out of the sinks is scalding, hot, way too hot to be safe. In order to get hot water coming out of the mixing control valve. I need to turn my water heater temperature, even hotter, which I do not want to do for safety and energy reasons. Is there a way to get this Fossett adjusted to put out even more hot water?
Thanks for the video but looks like you have your valve temperature on the opposite direction just turn it to the other way hot for hot and cold for cold
Thank you for the video. Unfortunately when I went to loosen the set screw I noticed it was completely missing but the handle doesn't want to come off. I tried a few different ways to get it off with no luck. Any suggestions on prying the handle off? I don't want to break anything while forcing it to come off and turn this easy fix into a nightmare project. Thanks in advance.
You need to get some leverage behind the handle with two different devices pulling outward, like perhaps extra-long screwdrivers or even some channel locks, I would suggest putting some padding on the tile so you don't crack or chip it
Same here I remove the screw, it was so hard but I did it, the handle is stuck I don't know what to do next and same I don't want to brake anything any tip please ??
I will be changing my faucet out, Here in our place, if it's hot outside them we have to put more cold water, but if it is cold then we use 3/4 hot water. I turn mine and it did not get very hot. That's why I say I'm changing my out with something else.
this is why i like the 2 knob kinds, everyone can set their own mixing ratio, from 1:0 to 0:1 hot:cold :D i never really understood these american shower valves...more plumbing work, more moving parts in the mixer, only to have a single axis motion, instead of two seperate turnvalves OR a two axis ceramix mixer...but hey, to each their own :D good vid, even with the blabbermixup :D keep up being awesome!

The water does not need to be off but for safety reasons you might want to do that. When it was first installed that had a little bit of grease in it but sounds like it's gone...maybe a shot of wd40
