I’ve watched who knows how many of your garage videos and I keep watching more. You do an excellent job narrating your videos and keeps me wanting to see more. Our trade needs many more people like yourself. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. From Washington state I thank you
the transparency your youtube channel creates... I wouldn't even consider using someone else if I lived in the area. I wish there was a "Ken's Certified" process for a network of shops across the country!
Awesome design on garage. Love the screened in porch and the way you connected it to create a mud room between the house and garage. Lot's of exterior doors and it's nice to have them on each side for sure. Another beautiful and fantastic build for sure. Thank you for sharing this video I loved it. God's blessings.
Being a born and raised New Englander , miss building up there , we ... my fiancé and I reside in Florida now been down here about 11 years I work for a local builder here and you wouldn’t believe the amount of metal hardware we have to install on a wood framed house AND the amount of inspections to build a house ...... seems like it takes forever to build a house ..... great watching your videos.. ya make it look easy !!
Nice looking Garage & color, I like the connector breezeway & porch, the 45° at the top of the garage doors gives a nice look too. Another fine job from Ken & Crew...
I've heard horror stories of builders ripping off customers, so refreshing to see a builder start to finish a quality job. I really enjoy your videos, prices don't seem too bad either.
It's amazing that you do projects like this so inexpensively...Great crew too! I couldn't touch that for less than 50K ... Hold onto those guys for dear life...They're like hens teeth where I'm at...Too many Young people seem to not want to work these days...Keep up the good work!
Glad to see the final product with this newly edited video Ken. From previous a video I wasn't sure how the angled corner on the cement pad would fit in with the garage - all clear now. Great job. Enjoy watching from Canada.
Ken, Did you say high winds? In my town in Ontario we had not had a tornado for over 50 years then we had 2 within 6 months. The most vivid image from my neighbourhood was a house built in the 1970s where the roof trusses were still held firmly in place by hurricane anchors but the plywood roof sheathing had blown off! I believe in those days the minimum code was 3/8 plywood with 2 inch nails.
Your crew is like a well oiled machine. You should do an depth series on Ken garage building process and include some plans. Maybe youdo one of those things on paper... yea! It's called a book!
Hey Ken, I love the videos, you mentioned using the transit for out in the center of the slab. We do the same as well. You have much more experience than me, but if you take the receiver and put it right onto the rake handle a foot or so up for the bottom,, and set the laser base lower to the ground, you can totally negate the need for a story pole. One less thing to have to hold onto when the mud is flowing. Makes good rakers perfect and bad takes good. Just a thought! Thanks for the videos.
Another awesome job. Hey Ken, looks like the shoulder has healed up just fine. Always enjoyable to watch. Sure wish I could find your clone out here in the west. I guess I'll have to do for now 😄😄😉 thanks again Ken. Your west coast friend, Phil.
I guess you’ll be starting new garages soon, sunny and 60’s there. I was up in Albany this weekend and see most areas melted except where I was. There was still 10” on the ground there but should melt this week. I like the redo on the videos but I’m looking forward to new ones.
Hi Ken, I love the new video edits. Glad to see you're always striving to improve all your products (not that I didn't throughly enjoy the original garage build video). My father is a recently retired union carpenter from the Chicagoland area. Growing up I spent a lot of time on jobs lending my energy, muscle and good joints. As a result, I have a lot of respect and admiration for trades and related small businesses. He spent 1978-2008 framing and triming custom homes in the suburbs, and then transitioned to commercial work in Chicago after the financial crisis. I was graduating high school during the financial crisis, so I assumed construction was too risky of a career for me (id say i was wrong about that lol)--I ended up a tax accountant, about as safe and cushy as it gets lol. I now do a lot of tax, bookkeeping, and advisory work for small business construction companies and their owners. Seeing how comfortably my father is retiring, compared to many peoples personal financial situations i see in my work, gives me more respect for the trade the and value of those skills. I often wonder if I would have had enjoyed following my father in the trades, and then after some time, starting a business like yourself. Id love to hear more about your career experience, and the development of your products and your business. Watching your videos is something my dad and I enjoy doing together, so thanks for sharing!
Always like your videos. Informative without being overdone. There's always some neat little trick I learn. Today it was the cutting the facia on the peak. I do have a question: Do you worry too much about the direction you lap your roofing? I always thought it was supposed to lap away from the approach angle. Just a little thing, but one my old man insists on. Either way, your projects always come together slick and look great.
A wonderful garage and the screen room off the side is a wonderful touch! I did notice some daylight at the top of the garage doors when they were installed. Is there a way of sealing that off?
I love your presentation. Looking at the truces I can only think, wow, look at that storage space. Is there a good way to utilize that area? Is the side porch going to be screened in? I built in a screen porch for a historical home built in 1908. I had to build everything as if it were in 1908 because the homeowner was part of a city tour and got a tax break, so any improvements had to done by strict guidelines. Came out pretty good by a skinny white girl.
We do the rakes different down here in Houston. I understand that the stud is nailed into the T-111 and that holds it to the wall but what supports the weight of the rake itself? Does it just hang from the roof sheathing that is cantilevered off of the side wall? This rake in particular seems very wide. Great videos sir....Greetings from Texas....John B.
Ken, do you use pressure treated 2x4’s on the base of your walls? It looks like they aren’t pressure treated and you are installing in the rain...just wondering.....you and your team do great work!
🛑 can you please tell me you have a trusted friend that is doing this same kind of work in California.??? You do great work and your prices are incredible. 👏 👏 👏
Another great looking garage!! That’s the exact setup I’m looking for. Is the $35,600 at today’s cost? If the cost of lumber would get anywhere back to normal what would the cost be or do you think the cost of lumber now is the new normal for some time to come? Hope I can find some as talented as you and your crew around my area!
Always enjoy your videos! In future video can you briefly explain how the thickened edge slab (maybe you call it something else) works in a cold climate like you have? Don't footers typically have to go down 3 ft or so? Or is this not a building permit / inspected type project? It seems great, I just don't quite understand how it works.
Hi Ken, Love your videos. We have a cabin in northern Michigan and are trying to figure out an addition. Its going to be 24X24 slab great room off the rear of the existing ranch home. The gable of the addition will be a reverse gable. The problem we are having is that with a 4/12 pitch on the cabin, what roof pitch am I going to need to accommodate a loft above the great room? I simply want to be able to put a bedroom above the main floor which will overlook the bottom floor. When I tie the new roof into the existing roof, I'm worried about the curb appeal. Thanks!
Hi Ken ! I love your videos and final products. I have a house in Delaware I’d love to add this exact garage to. Do you and your crew do away games ? The house would be free for the crew for the time of the work.
Ken, is this a garage that you made a video on before? It looks so familiar. I’m thinking you may have redone it with the green screen effects. The garage looks great!
great job as always. Happy to see a new video. Question...how would 7.25" hardi siding(or similar) compare in additional cost on a garage like this or do not have this option? be safe and take care of that shoulder.. -Brian
Hi Ken. Thanks for the video! I am thinking of building something very similar to this. Would you be willing to share how much the materials alone cost to build this structure? Thanks.
I’ve watched who knows how many of your garage videos and I keep watching more. You do an excellent job narrating your videos and keeps me wanting to see more. Our trade needs many more people like yourself. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. From Washington state I thank you

Glad I live in a rural area where you have enough land to add on to your house. My kids have a 25 foot lot in the city. I couldn't live like that.
Love your construction videos. It's like watching Bob Villa all over again!
Nice looking Garage & color, I like the connector breezeway & porch, the 45° at the top of the garage doors gives a nice look too. Another fine job from Ken & Crew...

I'm looking forward to when you finally get to Al Lumnah's "tiny house" build
Love the porch on this one.
Enjoyed todays build Ken. Looked really nice. Just wanted to say that other Ken in your videos is a hard worker. LoL. Must be a relative of yours.
Haha
I guess you’ll be starting new garages soon, sunny and 60’s there. I was up in Albany this weekend and see most areas melted except where I was. There was still 10” on the ground there but should melt this week. I like the redo on the videos but I’m looking forward to new ones.

I noticed the no door on the other side at the beginning and thought, "I'd put another door in..." Haha.
If you live in our area I'm sure everyone would recommend you good job 👍
Thanks
Nice job

Ken I'd like to see a video of you making the pre-fab stud Walls and headers
On it

Wish you were here in Hawaii, you can do my extension. Love your work
A wonderful garage and the screen room off the side is a wonderful touch! I did notice some daylight at the top of the garage doors when they were installed. Is there a way of sealing that off?
Yes definitely
Ken,
Do you have a video including an RV garage along side of the standard garage. Great videos by the way!
Sorry we don’t
Nice work.
Thanks
if someone walks out to the front edge of that roof, over the rake, what holds them ?? Love the condensed video.
Another fine job sir!
Thanks

It’s really strong almost like a truss itself. Nailed through the roof plywood into the rake and nailed into the wall.
Nicely done 😎
Wow Great work
Thanks
Love the videos Ken!
Thanks
Ken, do you use pressure treated 2x4’s on the base of your walls? It looks like they aren’t pressure treated and you are installing in the rain...just wondering.....you and your team do great work!
Yes we always use pressure treated with sill seal under that
Good to see new projects after the winter. What's this seasons forecast of sticker shock?
Still going up. Crazy
Looks fantastic. True professional. Do you ever fit the ply to the frames at your workshop before taking it onsite?
It’s to heavy for us
Nice job!
Thanks
🛑 can you please tell me you have a trusted friend that is doing this same kind of work in California.???

We pour a thickened perimeter and as long as the earthwork is well drained it works great

Ken, is this a garage that you made a video on before? It looks so familiar. I’m thinking you may have redone it with the green screen effects. The garage looks great!
Yes I condensed 4 into one to show start to finish.
Gray and Red is Ohio State Buckeyes !

Thanks for watching. I have never used the hardi-plank. Sorry
Hey! How's the shoulder holding up? I'm glad to see that you are still building fine affordable garages such as can't be found in my area.
Thanks. Still going to therapy. Trying to behave
Great job!
Looks great!
Thanks for watching
Beautiful.
Thanks
Thx for sharing
That is a nice one
Thanks
Wish you built in Canada!
Hi Ken. Thanks for the video! I am thinking of building something very similar to this. Would you be willing to share how much the materials alone cost to build this structure? Thanks.
Typically about half of the total project
What a beauty!!!😀
Thanks
Very nice work! Do you do all your own designing?
