Purchased an astro few years back for my mother as it was out fitted with wheel chair lift. 2wd, looked similar to the subscribers. wanted it when it came available but had no room for it, younger brother sold it to his mates family who lets just say didn't deserve it... oh well. still had just over 100k at that point. Florida sun started baking paint dash everything. if your going to replace the entire cover, do the timing chain as well. with those miles, will likely be stretched and they'll be right there at it. Those dorman timing chain covers for the 4.3 are junk. I can't recall what year your van is but there is a upgraded steel cover available from GM. Do yourself a favor and get that one if it fits your particular year. According to rockauto it will work on 97-03. There are a few different style timing chain tensioners across those years that would be wise to look into replacing/upgrading to while your in there as well. Maybe even replace the chain and gear set. Especially with a high mileage engine. Probably not a bad idea to get a new crank sensor as well while your there. They sometimes require shimming to get the proper gap though. If your shop is worth their salt, these items will be easily doable and a worthwhile addition to only a timing chain cover replacement and will definitely pay dividends for reliability and dependability.

I bought my 2001 Astro AWD with 133,000 for $2000. It now has 163,000. I need to find a brake power booster..it’s leaking.
