A pop up tent and a duvet says it all really. Hopefully they'll have learned from their experience and either bought better gear that isn't going to let them down or decided it's not for them.
so sad that there are people like this all around the world. I hope this "hiker" had a good reason for leaving it there.... Wishing you a wonderful week Chris. L51
I agree with you Chris. There seems to be a lot more things happening beyond belief nowadays. At least you did the friendly, helpful thing to check all was ok regarding the abandoned items you discovered on your hike.
Hello Mr Chris. Glad to find your channel. I’ll check back again soon for more of your hiking adventures. Yes I believe you that life is a journey, take it slow.. what’s exciting is our destination! 🙌🙏
Thank you, Pam, for watching, commenting, and subscribing. I really appreciate it. This was just a snippet of my previous 8 1/2 mile hike. You are right. Life is a journey. Have a great week, and thanks again.
If this had been nearer the car, I would have hiked out with it. Sadly, I was unable to. I didn't want to put a downer on the main video. Hence, just a short about leave no trace. There is no excuse for this behaviour whatsoever.
It's so frustrating to see people disrespecting nature like this. That tent and duvet scene sounds surreal. Thanks for always promoting Leave No Trace! 🌿✨
Very sad 😢 always a few that let the countryside down. And give other wild campers a bad name. I can not even imagine leaving behind my tent or belongings like that. 😢😢😢
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling I was out doing some bushcrafting back in Feb and was walking through a new wooded area and came across a tent that had a large tree fallen on it. My thoughts were much the same as yours when you saw the tent. I was expecting to find a squashed body, but all I found was some lazy git who couldn't be arsed taking their kit with them. Happens to often, which isn't good.
Sad really. Probably someone frustrated with the hike and stomping out, didn’t want to carry it. This stuff drives me nuts. I see it a lot around me unfortunately.
Popup tent and a duvet is clearly someone that's new to the experience of wildcamping, it's a real shame people think this is acceptable. I wish people would treat nature better and realise that actions like this ruin wildcamping for those of us that will respect and leave no trace.
You don't know what your about to find until you get there i suppose but you can't believe someone would dump all that there and walk off 😏 unbelievable
How does something like that get removed from there? Are there parks staff that it can be reported to or something like that? I understand that you can take it, but it would seem a shame if it has to stay up there for years because no one can take it. Here we have a conservation line we can call and hopefully they'll do something about it (you'd think since they have the number to call for these things that they would).
I'm thinking of hiking back out and clearing it myself. But that is $69 CAD is diesel. If I'd had a bigger pack, I definitely would have taken it the first time.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling There is an old petrol can out in the woods that I'm going back to get this year. I show it in one of my hunting videos last year where I was loaded down and actively hunting and couldn't take it. If you go back there to get it, plan out another hike while you are there, at least. The tent looks like it's in good condition and could be given to someone that may appreciate it.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling I hear you on not knowing who to report it to. Maybe one of your e-mails will find someone that can do something about it.
@agesadventures I haven't got a tent. If it is in good condition, I may just keep it. There is nowhere near there to hike to. Cock Hill Trig Point would be the closest but I've done it now. It will be a 2 1/2hr round trip hike just to pick up rubbish or a new tent for me. I'll just have to hike out with water and an empty pack if it will collapse that small.
No, definitely not. I looked it up on Amazon. It is only about £129. It's one of those music festival tents, I think. I'm in two minds to hike back out and take it out, but I bet it is crawling with tics and lice. It did make my heart miss a beat when I first saw it. I know you like your mountains, Simon. It is 100 years since Mallory and Irving. Have you read Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer? It puts a real good spin on the tale. Obviously, fiction, but it's based on a factual event, but I found it gripping. Just a thought. Have a great week, Simon.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling I will taken a look at that Chris (thank you 👍🏔️)100 years and they are still talked about amongst the mountain community all the time (legends 🙏🏼🏔️)
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling Still kinda looks like a runaway . . 😀 .. ever since I found my own zip lock bag on a trail one day .. I always blame the wind . It's a pity it's still up on that hill .. I hope some day it gets removed
It does anger me. I plan to hike back out with an empty pack and just water to retrieve this rubbish. People who profess to love the outdoors and then do this really disgust me. Thanks for your continued support. I really appreciate it.
Because that's a folding pop-up tent - I would hazard a guess that they were unable to fold it again and decided to leave it there. The weather may have been a factor in their decision too. The sort of person that takes what I would classify as a 'novelty tent' wild camping, most likely does not have the patience or skills to deal with situations. It was extremely lazy of them not to carry it out as it is though.

I had a gut feeling it was nefarious but very glad it was not. Nothing surprises me anymore Shanita.

How the hell does someone just up and leave their tent… like that’s such a conscious decision to make it completely baffles me.
