Thanks! I'll save the deep dives for other videos. I really wanted people to be able to go from nothing to hanging with the lore nerds as quickly as possible!
Mk2 was an outstanding game. For me, anyway, far superior to 40k. At the time, AoS was a joke and Fantasy was unsupported (dead). So it was a great opportunity for Privateer to shine. I’m not really sure exactly what happened then... AoS 2nd Ed came out, and it had morphed into an actual game, not just a silly four page rules excuse to buy models. WMH Mk3 happened, and a lot of people seemed to be less than pleased. The local WHM scene simply evaporated, most of the people migrating back to GW, AoS.
If you have a warmachine community locally. It is worth the time to go out and get a demo and see if it fits. I played a lot of mk2, it was an amazing time to be a gamer and part of the community. skorne and ret were my factions of choice. As much as I am not happy with certain things that were done in the past and ret being turned into hot topic cryx. The game itself is worth checking out.
So my favorite faction for Warmachine is Khador. Partly because I got into the hobby in Mk2 because "giant robots fights" sparked something in teenage me. As times gone on I have come to very much appreciate how their lore is and how it's presented. On the surface level they are your brutal, nationalistic, bad guy faction, but when you take the time to look deeper and learn about them you learn that Khador is far deeper and nuanced than that, and are actually pretty chill dudes in a lot of ways. For Hordes the Legion of Everblight is my favorite because firstly "Dragons are cool" and it's a faction based around "What if X but a dragon?" Beyond that the dragon himself Everblight is one of my favorite characters in fiction. He's such a little weasel and I wouldn't trust him with watering my flowers, but he's this confident, incredibly competent badass who has the towing arrogance of his father Toruk, but is this massive coward at the same time. He's Immoren's Starscream leading a Legion of Starscreams and I love it.

Small points, but Leto is Vinter’s brother not son, and Morrow is an actively good god and the primary deity of Cygnar, whereas Menoth is the progenitor god of many races but is actually lawful neutral, and very fire and brimstone, which is why many humans, particularly in Cygnar, turned from the worship of Menoth to the far more forgiving and lenient Morrow. Also Thamar unilaterally pacted with the Infernals on behalf of all mankind
Well, my favourite factions in mk3 are/were trollbloods and mercenary privateers. So i like the relatively grounded steampunk pirate aesthetic, and more lighthearted "Scottish" trolls. So it would be no surprise that in mk4 brineblood marauders are hands-down my favourite faction.
Brinebloods are one of those factions that for whatever reason I didn't jive with, but I suspect they would be a playstyle I really like. I have a large trollbloods army, so I'm waiting to see what the next Southern Kriels army will be. I will however pick up the madlad riding a shark, of course!
