A BBC 4 documentary on the life of Alan Hull, called "Lindisfarne’s Geordie Genius: The Alan Hull Story," was first broadcast on 26 November 2021. In the hour-long film the career and personal life of Hull was interspersed with archive footage of performances and interviews, some of it previously unseen. There are also tributes from fans of the songs including Sting, Elvis Costello, Mark Knopfler, Dave Stewart and Peter Gabriel. He was an underappreciated giant of British music, Newcastle's own. Thanks Paul and Harri.

I remember the band Lindisfarne had a minor hit in the early 80's with the song "Run for Home". "Winters Song" is very moving, and I enjoyed it very much.

Thanks Harri, I wondered why you played it again although the song does deserve repeated listens.
Alan Hull (who was the performer there) was a stalwart Labour supporter which I'm not, but I respect him for the concern he always showed for others and his hatred of unfairness.
As we said before in the comments, Alan died unexpectedly a few months later and this certainly adds to the poigniency of this last performance of the song in his hometown of Newcastle, which was so important to him.

I always enjoyed the Ovation guitar tone.

And to follow on on a similar theme how about Ralph McTell's 'Streets of London'? Try the version from his 70th birthday concert with John Williams accompanying on guitar.
