Honestly didn't really know that was a thing, personally I never watch a tournament from the VODs and just open Liquipedia to see the results instantly and I didn't really expect to upset so many people with a title/thumbnail I thought was cool. I realise at this point changing it doesn't really matter since the damage is done and the result is already 4 days old or so but if I ever do a cast like this again I'll make sure to do better. My bad and I hope you were all still able to enjoy the games either here or on someone else's channel

He's def best terran now. He's been best Terran on online tournas for a while but he had issue of keep fumbling in bigger offlune tournaments. Seems like he finally overcame his weakness.

Clem is speed. The only person who bloodied his nose in the tourney was Reynor. His game sense and countering meant that no gimmick got past him; he just had to be out-microed and good luck with that.
@@rev9115 Micro generally refers to unit control. Kiting, chasing, splitting, spell casting, etc. Macro generally refers to base management. Expanding, unit production, upgrades, building placement and timing.
It's not spoiled, only you are. The event is over, anyone and everyone can look at the results. The world isn't on hold until you are ready. Maybe they shouldn't even play the matched until you say it's okay.
I'm glad you highlighted game 2 in Serral vs Clem. That was certainly one of the most high level non stop pressure games I've seen in a while. A lesser zerg would've been killed so many times but Serral was good enough to hang in there against that relentless multi-pronged onslaught for 20 minutes.
It is really good seeing Clem not only win but do it so convincingly and unleash the absolute best version of him at the same time. Always been a fan of him, now even more.
Yeah it should be "Casting 2 games from Clem against her0 and Serral at the 1 000 000$ SC2 tournament". The title is still appealing and there's no spoiler...

Wow, what an amazing performance from Clem throughout the whole tournament. He deserved this win, his Terran is the best Terran I have ever seen. IMO in his hands Terran is almost unbeatable, because Terran combines everything you need in Starcraft: Bio-Terran has: - great mobility (medivacs) - insane DPS - great scouting tools with the reaper, the hellion and - of course - scans - low supply needed for a lot of dps (8 marines + medivac are only 10 army supply, but can deal huge amount of damage in short time) - high sustainability and regeneration (heal) - a perfect mix of high micro units (bio + medivac), combined with stuff that takes very little effort (mines + liberators), but that require a lot of attention from the opponent - none of his army becomes obsolete - marines are good early, mid and late game - compare that to roach/ravager which are just mid mid/lategame, so as Zerg you have to get rid of them. - Ghosts / Tanks / Libs and mines almost always guarantee you very good, very efficient trades - huge range (libs + tanks) - with the Ghost you counter almost every Zerg Unit: Ghost counter Ultras, Broodlords, Lurker and Hydras - and they do quite well against banes too - and even against zerglings they aren't bad. So they counter everything but do not get countered by anything. The only downside: Squishy. Bio Terran can get destroyed by AoE fast. But if you play as good as clem - and with the huge nerfs to banes + fungal - that just doesn't happen. And his stuff counters the AoE of the opponent very well: Banes + Infestors have been heavily nerfed. Marauders do very well against banes. Ghost do well against infestors. And against Toss it is even more heavy: Templar? NO chance against ghosts EMP (which btw reduce the HP of Toss armies by roughly 1/3 with 1 click!) The Colossi die against marauders and esp. vikings extremly fast Disruptors are great - if the Terran doesn't micro very good. Against Clem, the Disruptor does almost 0 damage. And on top of that the Terran has: - great map vision because of sensor towers - mid/late game almost unlimited Scans and this way he never has to go in unprepared and he always can check for burrowed threads - mules, which results in him needing at 15 workers less to mine the same. -> His army supply can be much bigger than the opponents and he still gets the same ressources - mules as a great comeback tool if he loses SCVs - SCVs are more resiliant to attacks than drones + probes. The Banshee 2-shots probes + drones. The Oracle 2-shots probes + drones. The SCV needs 3 hits. That is a HUGE difference, because a single oracle gets nothing done against terran. You have double the time to withdraw an SCV (it survies 2 shots compared to 1 shot like drone/probe) - Terran can wall off easily - High safety in the early game - Terran can play greedy. Or very safe. A banshee, a bunker - and there isn't much cheese the enemy can do. IF the Terran manages to micro his Bio-army like Clem, there is nothing that the other races can do against Terran. Because Terran is just perfect in everything, there isn't a single weakness. Well, despite bio being kind of squishy - but if you micro like Clem, this is not an issue. And that results in the perfect race that is in the hands of Clem in this shape and form unbeatable.
the only person who can micro his army like Clem is Byun...what he is doing is impossible for even the best players...Also, terran's massive weakness is army management....toss & zerg are far easier to manage the army....toss late game maybe not because you have to have a ridiculous comp since they are the weakest overall race.
Can you do a breakdown of more of serral and clems matches? Watching the games I thought a lot of serrals attacks were quite disjointed e.g. leading with his broods into mass ghost, getting 10 of them sniped out of the sky before the ling hydra bane rolled in after. Probably happened because he was being pushed by clem on other fronts but I thought serral played quite flustered throughout and would be cool to see you analysis of each game
A lot of times in those situations, there's nothing Zerg can do. Snipe outranges everything. If you wait for reinforcements before engaging with BLs, Ghosts just cloak. If you wait for Overseers to show up, Ghosts just snipe them first and then back to problem #1. If you're too hesitant with the BLs then Ghosts just snipe your other key units while siege tanks and libs take care of the rest. Terran has the best defense options while simultaneously outrange Zerg on just about everything. Pretty much the ONLY answer is catching stuff with a lucky fungal, but even then Infestors have to first sneak into range and they themselves are incredibly vulnerable even to all the unintentional siege splash damage, let alone getting discovered.
@@MadDash84 ok, let’s be honest serral was not playing cleanly throughout the series. He was wasteful with units, left vipers unattended to die and took fights he knew he shouldn’t have. I can point you to a number of serral clem games where clem plays at a similar level and serral wins. Sure Terran are good on defence but serral didn’t leverage the power of Zerg to move quickly and hit across the map in places clem was weaker and less built up. He became predictable because he was flustered. Let’s not try and put this loss down to Terran OP because clem simply outplayed him on the day, and the fact that serral couldn’t take one game out of 8 off him simply proves clem was living rent free in his mind, as if serral was playing on point he would statistically been able to take one take regardless of any imbalance.

I think 2018 or 2022 level Serral would've taken one or two maps AT BEST and, tbh, he wasn't that far from that level nor in this series nor this year as a whole. I mean, he was crushing it the whole tournament. He 4-0ed Dark JUST BEFORE this finals. Clem was just out of this world almost literally.
I've been looking forward to watching this tournament for months. I have had to work doubles to pay the bills. I go to put something on for the trip home and see this. What were you thinking Marc? It would have been so easy to put a black rectangle with a question mark over him and make the title ambiguous. There are dozens of games to get through and its only been a day. You've been my favorite Starcraft youtuber for years, I've always found your creativity, insightful commentary, and upbeat atitude inspiring. When I heard the finals was Clem vs Serral and it ended with a 5:0, I was soooo prepared for all the comments being like: "Zerg imba for 5 years straight". Didn't expect Clem to clean-sweep Serral of all people! Actually looked trough the tournament results and only Raynor managed to take 2 games off of Clem. That's wild. Even Celms kryptonite is too weak!
I'm glad that finally more and more people see what I've been saying for almost 2 years: Clem is the best Terran of all time at micro, beating out Maru, Byun, INnoVation.
he played like its his life on the line. dude was micro-ing several armies at different parts of the map --- all at once! even the casters were blown away lol. to the haters that say Terran is broken, he's literally the only terran that reached final 4 lol and he's also the one that did what nobody else did (or probably in the history of SC2) which is giving Serral (the GOAT) 8 consecutive losses in a world cup meet! Maru (who is arguably the best Terran before this) got knocked by Serral in a dominating 3-1 win but could not even get 1 win vs. Clem. give credit where credit is due -- balance has nothing to do with an 8-0 win against THE GOAT.
Truly insane how some people can even argue that. But some of them have brought a somewhat valid point: that Clem scractched absolute perfection of gameplay and that Terran, if played PERFECTLY, might be unbeatable. The thing is that no one had ever played Terran to THAT level, which still gives all the credit to Clem for playing it to such a stratospheric virtuous level. Still, it's not about balance when you scratch perfection like that, especially if no one else has ever done what you just did.

I mean... sure mate. Some people are casual sc2 esports watchers, or have lives that mean they have to wait to a certain day to watch stuff. For me, I'm only a bit annoyed that I was spoiled, but could see how many would be pissed. Just because it removes so much tension from most of the games, which makes it less fun to watch. Do I care about the result as much as hard-core sc2 observers? Nah. Do I like to enjoy watching a game without knowing the winner first? Of course.

History was written there, 8-0 Serral in one of the biggest SC2 tournament ever... I thought Serral would get his revenge easily in the grand finale, after the 0-3 in the group B UB finale. Apparently Clem was ready for everything, congrats to him
I think he does deliberately drop harass with Ghosts, they can EMP defensive DT and shield battery, or a clump of zealots and fight in a choke, and allows a relatively small drop trade more cost effectively

Clem was on absolute fire this tournament. So many insane micro moments, in super short succession. Even Serral was crumbling. Though I do think he was playing just a *little* bit worse than usual. And Clem was playing the absolute best he ever played. Thus resulting in the score we got. I'm genuinely curious how Clem would have done against Maru, Cure or Oliveira. They usually have his number, more often than not. But this could have been the moment where he would have crushed them.

The 4th game of serie vs Serral was the most epic though. Starting from midgame, the map control is insane, and we got the whole Z panel (ultras + broodlords and of course infest + vipers...) It's a real campaign mission, with a giant front line splitting the map in half !

Clem won because he studied Serral better than anyone else (possibly ever). He gambled that Serral would be in the final (a very reasonable gamble) and he prepared better than anyone else. He has an understanding of Serral's weaknesses that no-one else has (including you or me) and he exploited them relentlessly. That is the only explanation for his 8-0 sweep. (3-0 and 5-0)

Sure Terran are good on defence but serral didn’t leverage the power of Zerg to move quickly and hit across the map in places clem was weaker and less built up. He became predictable because he was flustered. Let’s not try and put this loss down to Terran OP because clem simply outplayed him on the day, and the fact that serral couldn’t take one game out of 8 off him simply proves clem was living rent free in his mind, as if serral was playing on point he would statistically been able to take one take regardless of any imbalance.
@@WingZeroCustom001 I don't think even peak Serral would've beaten this Clem. Did you watch the absolutely inhuman level he played at? I think 2018 or 2022 level Serral would've taken one or two maps AT BEST and, tbh, he wasn't that far from that level nor in this series nor this year as a whole. I mean, he was crushing it the whole tournament. He 4-0ed Dark JUST BEFORE this finals. Clem was just out of this world almost literally.

I've been looking forward to watching this tournament for months. I have had to work doubles to pay the bills. I go to put something on for the trip home and see this. What were you thinking Marc? It would have been so easy to put a black rectangle with a question mark over him and make the title ambiguous. There are dozens of games to get through and its only been a day. You've been my favorite Starcraft youtuber for years, I've always found your creativity, insightful commentary, and upbeat atitude inspiring. As somone who enjoys and respects the game i thought you'd know better than to do something like this. Now I'm just sad and tired.

When I heard the finals was Clem vs Serral and it ended with a 5:0, I was soooo prepared for all the comments being like: "Zerg imba for 5 years straight". Didn't expect Clem to clean-sweep Serral of all people! Actually looked trough the tournament results and only Raynor managed to take 2 games off of Clem. That's wild. Even Celms kryptonite is too weak!
Clem didn't even need to play against Dark and Maru
Maru also looked incredible in his late game vs Serral.
Clem in person with zero latency is another animal.
He's actually historically done better online, but it's been real nice to see him perform better offline as of late.

I'm glad that finally more and more people see what I've been saying for almost 2 years: Clem is the best Terran of all time at micro, beating out Maru, Byun, INnoVation.
he played like its his life on the line. dude was micro-ing several armies at different parts of the map --- all at once! even the casters were blown away lol.
to the haters that say Terran is broken, he's literally the only terran that reached final 4 lol and he's also the one that did what nobody else did (or probably in the history of SC2) which is giving Serral (the GOAT) 8 consecutive losses in a world cup meet!
Maru (who is arguably the best Terran before this) got knocked by Serral in a dominating 3-1 win but could not even get 1 win vs. Clem. give credit where credit is due -- balance has nothing to do with an 8-0 win against THE GOAT.
Truly insane how some people can even argue that. But some of them have brought a somewhat valid point: that Clem scractched absolute perfection of gameplay and that Terran, if played PERFECTLY, might be unbeatable. The thing is that no one had ever played Terran to THAT level, which still gives all the credit to Clem for playing it to such a stratospheric virtuous level. Still, it's not about balance when you scratch perfection like that, especially if no one else has ever done what you just did.

For me, I'm only a bit annoyed that I was spoiled, but could see how many would be pissed. Just because it removes so much tension from most of the games, which makes it less fun to watch.
Do I care about the result as much as hard-core sc2 observers? Nah. Do I like to enjoy watching a game without knowing the winner first? Of course.

I think he does deliberately drop harass with Ghosts, they can EMP defensive DT and shield battery, or a clump of zealots and fight in a choke, and allows a relatively small drop trade more cost effectively

Clem was on absolute fire this tournament. So many insane micro moments, in super short succession. Even Serral was crumbling. Though I do think he was playing just a *little* bit worse than usual. And Clem was playing the absolute best he ever played. Thus resulting in the score we got.
I'm genuinely curious how Clem would have done against Maru, Cure or Oliveira. They usually have his number, more often than not. But this could have been the moment where he would have crushed them.

The 4th game of serie vs Serral was the most epic though.
Starting from midgame, the map control is insane, and we got the whole Z panel (ultras + broodlords and of course infest + vipers...)
It's a real campaign mission, with a giant front line splitting the map in half !

i know i’m late rewatching the tournament but haven’t had the time to watch all the way to the finals :/
Clem won because he studied Serral better than anyone else (possibly ever). He gambled that Serral would be in the final (a very reasonable gamble) and he prepared better than anyone else. He has an understanding of Serral's weaknesses that no-one else has (including you or me) and he exploited them relentlessly. That is the only explanation for his 8-0 sweep. (3-0 and 5-0)
