There is a better way to level up right to 90 lvl. I figured it out at the begining of RoS. There is one collection of shinies that your 120 lv alt can farm in the first area of RoS. After sending it to your toon you level up to 90. Dont remember the collection but its the only one that can be used by low level characters.

Also you missed your chance to unlock the Merc:( it was an event for when "Planes of Prophecy" first came out, they had a event where you could play a week of "Plane of Prophecy' for free and you got a free mercenary with the event

For anyone curious on how to get there without fast travel. Use your guilds wizard teleportation or a wizards spire in any zones
You should do one for what mercs to use for a noob. I can't really find a good guide on mercs anywhere
