I am from Algeria and I visited Lancaster in 1984 and 1985 for summer courses at Lancaster university. I spent there the best moments in my life. I really fell in love with the city. Thank you for making me rrmembet that
Ooh was an unpleasant nickname for what looks like a really nice town! 😁 Such beautiful old churches. That sounds like a great bag. What a beautiful memorial too, he must have been quite in love. 💔
Didn't know that about Lancaster and hangings... 😬 Cool shot at 2:18. Hahaha, I can relate to you getting tongue-tied at the end--happens to me all the time
Great job hitting these little northern towns, you cover the history really well! Even the grim details haha Interesting that it has loads of Barber shops too...
@@Svenywhere surprised to see many shops (even little ones) still there at the same location even after 35 years, eg. H Samuel Jewellers, Pizza Margherita, etc
Lancaster, a historic city like a smaller version of Edinburgh. There are quiet residential areas in the city, and is only an hour away from Blackpool and the Lake District. I am from Preston but haven't been for a few years.
Woow so jealous about the fact you leave close to the places where GOT has been shot! You have such nice stories to tell ;) Keep it up and go abroad to find new places where you can explain new scenes!
Well firstly I've never heard that nickname and I've lived in Lancaster since I was 3 (1979). Secondly. The mini park where you're sitting (called the ABC Park) at 2min 30 secs - that's a 2 minute walk from my house 😊 (the street behind those houses you can see going down the hill past the stop sign!) Thirdly, my husband and I got married at the Ashton memorial - in 2009 😊
Another great video full of facts. Nice one! How did you find out the about the number of people hung in Lancaster as opposed to elsewhere? Very interesting fact I think. That there are a great number of barber shops in Lancaster must have been really noticeable. Again, I like the bits of information you share. Makes the place come more alive.
Thanks, glad you like it again. I don't know the numbers on hanging around that time, but I read it during my lunch I thought it would be interesting to share.
No idea unfortunately, what do you think? Is it the fact because it is the North? Like Game of Thrones looks a bit based on the history that happened here as well in that time between the different kingdoms
Ahh well for one thing there was the Pendle witch trails in 1612, but also because the castle used to be a prison, most places would send their prisoners there. I hope this helps
This is a really great video! Loved the shots and looks like an interesting place to visit! I love travelling; recently started vlogging as well and would be great if you check it out and let me know what you think. Can’t wait to see your future videos ;)
I live here and u made it look nice but in reality its full of smack heads and roadmen but nice place in genral and the school witch has the qathedal was my primary
I don't know how it is to live there in general. I only know that for a (half) day visit it is a great place to do so if you are in the area. Hope you are staying safe in the current climate!
Hope you found this a cute little English city. What are your small towns you enjoy visiting?
Thank you so much for the video, brings back memories. Lived here from 2005 to 2010. Awesome place
The next time we visit England 🤞 I'd like to check out this city!
@@jodylancaster8706 Maybe you will find your roots there
I love York!

It wasn't his only wife but it seems he was indeed deeply in love with her.

Sometimes you discover new things during travelling. Such as the hanging part.
Indeed! That's one of the best parts of travel

Yeah I still don't understand why they need so many barbershops
i lived here in the mid 80s, yr vid brings back memories
Did a lot change since then?

I have never considered visiting Lancaster. I need to add it on my bucket list.
You don't need more than a day. But definitely worth visiting.

We indeed made a stop there when we went for the Lake District.
Great history on channel
Thanks mate. Glad you love the history facts. I am normally not into history that much but sometimes it can enrich the place such as now.

We have never been to Lancaster, it seems pretty! This video was great, we really liked the editing! Are you planning any new UK videos this year?
Definitely only not sure what it will be yet

I just love those added facts and bits of general information. Makes the content more alive. 👍
It is the place where more people were hung, except for the old bailey in London
Oh great, that's where my name comes from!😂
Mine as well👍
