Molly, mine and my baby girls house was burgled 2 years ago, they took everything and threw my late fiancé’s ashes everywhere and did a really nasty job on what was supposed to be our forever home. Luckily over a year on justice was finally served. We did the same as you and moved straight away. I completely understand the emotions you are feeling. It’s absolutely horrible. I know you probably won’t see this but hopefully someone will. What helps me with my anxiety is relaxing like you, if that’s possible. Drinking peppermint tea is excellent if you can. A huge one for me personally is writing down everything that’s in my head onto paper. There’s scientific proof that getting it out of your head and onto paper does wonders. It’s like you’re filing everything in the cabinets in your brain. I sometimes just draw a spider diagram and randomly list everything on my mind, some people doodle anything, some like more of a structure so will write the headings ‘situation’ ‘emotions I feel about it’ and ‘rational thinking’ and when you start it takes time to reach the rationale. Then you can write your rationale in less and less time. Now I’m at the stage I don’t need to write my thoughts down often because my brain is so used to organising them all when I get stressed itself. Taking time sitting, no TV, no phone preferably alone- maybe a bath or reading or lying in bed is very important. Again, scientists say we should really be having ‘me time’ (no electronics and time to yourself) for at least 15 mins every day! We can start with 5? Face masks, baths, pampering helps me too. Reading self help books is good. Finally, just telling yourself out loud that you are human and that you need to be kind to yourself is important. It sounds stupid but it’s so true. Write yourself a letter that you would send to a friend if they were experiencing what you are. I can guarantee it would be kinder than what you say to yourself xx
When you do get your forever home, please be EXTRA careful. I watch a lot of streamers, and they are very careful. They don't show the outside of the house, and sometimes they don't show any rooms other than their streaming room. Also they don't make it obvious when they are leaving their house. It's honestly the worst feeling. My house was burglarized when I was a child and remember the went in my room and stole my birthday money. So upsetting.
That feeling of being violated after being burgled is so difficult. That some stranger invaded your personal space and went through your personal possessions is just so difficult to cope with. That combined with losing a home that you loved must be SO difficult for you and Tommy. You're dealing with it so well. Please try not to feel guilty because you had lots of valuable possessions - It's just part of your job. Peppermint tea is one of my faves - allow yourself time to heal from this violation. The way you're feeling is totally valid and I hope that you can get past everything and feel safe again. :)

I'm not one for commenting on TH-cam videos normally but I wanted to say that I completely understand that feeling of being upset about moving despite finding an even nicer place. We were forced out of our rental apartment this Summer after a petrol bomb in a case of mistaken identify/address. It's the feeling of having that decision taken away from you and no longer feeling safe in your "home" that lingers more than the actual incident. Our new place is so much nicer as well but just know that you're not odd for feeling that way about the move!

I know you probably won’t see this but hopefully someone will. What helps me with my anxiety is relaxing like you, if that’s possible. Drinking peppermint tea is excellent if you can. A huge one for me personally is writing down everything that’s in my head onto paper. There’s scientific proof that getting it out of your head and onto paper does wonders. It’s like you’re filing everything in the cabinets in your brain. I sometimes just draw a spider diagram and randomly list everything on my mind, some people doodle anything, some like more of a structure so will write the headings ‘situation’ ‘emotions I feel about it’ and ‘rational thinking’ and when you start it takes time to reach the rationale. Then you can write your rationale in less and less time. Now I’m at the stage I don’t need to write my thoughts down often because my brain is so used to organising them all when I get stressed itself.
Taking time sitting, no TV, no phone preferably alone- maybe a bath or reading or lying in bed is very important. Again, scientists say we should really be having ‘me time’ (no electronics and time to yourself) for at least 15 mins every day! We can start with 5?
Face masks, baths, pampering helps me too. Reading self help books is good.
Finally, just telling yourself out loud that you are human and that you need to be kind to yourself is important. It sounds stupid but it’s so true. Write yourself a letter that you would send to a friend if they were experiencing what you are. I can guarantee it would be kinder than what you say to yourself xx

When you do get your forever home, please be EXTRA careful. I watch a lot of streamers, and they are very careful. They don't show the outside of the house, and sometimes they don't show any rooms other than their streaming room. Also they don't make it obvious when they are leaving their house. It's honestly the worst feeling. My house was burglarized when I was a child and remember the went in my room and stole my birthday money. So upsetting.
That feeling of being violated after being burgled is so difficult. That some stranger invaded your personal space and went through your personal possessions is just so difficult to cope with. That combined with losing a home that you loved must be SO difficult for you and Tommy. You're dealing with it so well. Please try not to feel guilty because you had lots of valuable possessions - It's just part of your job. Peppermint tea is one of my faves - allow yourself time to heal from this violation. The way you're feeling is totally valid and I hope that you can get past everything and feel safe again. :)

As someone with anxiety, peppermint tea is a favourite of mine too. I'm not one for commenting on TH-cam videos normally but I wanted to say that I completely understand that feeling of being upset about moving despite finding an even nicer place. We were forced out of our rental apartment this Summer after a petrol bomb in a case of mistaken identify/address. It's the feeling of having that decision taken away from you and no longer feeling safe in your "home" that lingers more than the actual incident. Our new place is so much nicer as well but just know that you're not odd for feeling that way about the move!
