It’s been a long time since I saw them live in Sydney but when they toured in Australia early 80’s they were the backup band for Flowers- Icehouse. That was at the Capitol theatre, but when they were touring the UK and Europe it was Simple Minds and Flowers-Icehouse as backup. RESPECT for one of my all time favourite band(s).
I remembered seeing the minds at Birmingham ,lN.E.C.....street fighting years tour..this song is timeless....shows how ahead of their time they where back then..... ❤️.come back Mickey Mac 🙏
Cant remember if i was 16/17.............no care in the world when i was at afriends house smoking stuff and drinking stuff and i listeng to this 4 the first time.....still sming...still listening...always listening love the minds.
@@spud74 I only went Man Shitty ground for outdoor gigs that year, it was hard being a Utd fan but brilliant gig. Shame Jim had his breakdown after the tour as they would have still been up there at the top to this day I think.
Charlie is always good. Luckily there is still 1 member who tries to keep the original vibes of the '80's. Jim has long since given up and plays on automatic pilot. For me it is no longer worth to go and see them live. Especially with that terrible version of "speed your love to me". For my their best song ever made.
Theme For Great Cities - one of the greatest instrumentals ever written. Such a brilliant classic.
Totally agree.ciuld listen to this again and again and again
fully agree.
Haunted me when I first heard it in 1979/80...could still now....along with seeing out the angel
Simon Artley
Couldn’t agree more
That...bass...line !!
Unbelievable that boys from Toryglen in the southside of Glasgow were making music like this 40 odd years ago. Outstanding.
I was at this gig with my son. It was absolutely fabulous. We had a great time.
seen simple minds several times live, always fun and great times :)
without mask or what ?
Fabulous bass playing, holds it all together !!
Ged Grimes - Ex ‘Danny wilson’ Bassist
Just an amazing New Wave influenced instrumental all round still sound great after all these years!
Saw them in concert in Dublin last night absolutely brilliant
Still sounds fresh 40 years later, such a groove to it,just timeless.

Incredible instrumental ageless and a masterpiece I doubt there an instrumental that can beat this 👏👏👏👏
Saw them 3 weeks ago, blew my mind, they’re just amazing live, booked to see them again in Edinburgh in August, can’t wait!
Bands like this made the 80's bearable ❤️
Still spine tingling after all these years - still sounds contemporary 💖
A few years back this was the closer music for one of Kaiser Karl’s fashion shows - absolutely apropos
looks and sounds ok, i saw them at royal court theatre in liverpool, in the early 80s, awesome band
They still sound great.
I saw them in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. Fantastic.
Looking forward to seeing them tonight in Liverpool, saw them in Cardiff Arms Park 1989 and they still sound great.
Cheers for posting 👍🏻

went to see last night in liverpool on the 40 hits tour was a great show thank,s for posting
First band I ever saw live- Wembley Stadium August 89!
Worst date of all UK tour, awful sound unfortunately. Such a shame.
@@glenndouglas8822 Milton Keynes in 91 was a better gig. Also probably explains why they only ever played Wembley once (in their own right)

Fantastici
Could still the soundtrack for our urban world?...innovative,evocative
(maybe Ultravox Astradyne would be a decent follow on)
Excellent I wish someone had the full concert or one from uk
Good video !
Love it .😊
always loved Theme For...reminds me of Genesis' The Brazilian, and Chick Corea-The Golden Dawn.
Saw them at Milton Keynes. I remember them having a devoted Scottish following that day.
le 1er morceau que j'ai écouté de ce groupe dans un bar belge début années 80
Thanks for the upload🥳🥳
Este tema instrumental es para quitarse el sombrero 🧡🧡🧡🧡✌✌✌✌👌👌👌👌

Intro ?
Intro Claroscuro. Soda Stereo
Agree jp m I was there with my son, voice gone and too much patter, we go to see a band, not the audience trying to sing!
great videoing, bet your arms got tired.
Most people there wouldn't know what the fuck this is
boring until 4:57
No Mike and Deek ,not in the same ball psrk
Somethings should have been left alone after the 80's....singing voice is not there anymore!!!
crowds r crap now
New keyboard player not as good the original.
No the same without Mel and Andy. Big mistake sacking them. 🤬
Charlie’s there! Lead guitar.

Yup. The performance of this instrumental is essentially a cover-band rendition, guest-starring Charlie.
Same here, they are just a cover band now. Just going through the process. It's a shame. Not like they need the coin....
Just not the same without the original band members. Looks stupid. Etc etc.
how great is that! f u c x x en great
