My trick for making less expensive items look more expensive is to give them a good careful ironing, it can make a big difference. I just bought a $120 black trench coat, but it didn’t hang well and looked cheap. After a thorough ironing (including the belt and the detachable hood), and steaming the lining, it looks like a high-quality one now. I did the same with a trouser and blazer “suit” from H&M, what an improvement! Steaming often isn’t effective enough for heavier, tailored items like these or those made from cotton or linen.

“Slowly invest in key pieces” is such great advice! I have been gradually building my wardrobe with the more expensive, but critical, items like blazers, long coats, wool trousers, cashmere and silk clothing, boots and bags, in the best fabrics and materials. It’s not as instantly gratifying as buying lots of fast-fashion tops, etc., but I find that I always have the right key pieces now to make outfits work and look special.
I really love Theory for tailored trousers, blazers and suits. They use wool, cotton, linen, etc. with breathable rayon linings. For long winter coats, Banana Republic and House of Bruar are great, too, using the same fabrics. These brands are “affordable” for their high quality and design, and cost much less than “designer” brands.
I love this type of video, Alice! More about styling, less of a handbag parade. Although I have also enjoyed your handbag videos very much, this content is more unique. Merci beaucoup 🙏🏼
Very good 👍 ! Love these tips I would add a navy blazer like Ralph Lauren to wear with the famous white 0r striped shirt and jean Please Alice talk about your hair ( soo nice 👍)
I loved this, Alice. I have many of these pieces (equivalents) collected over the years but now I am looking for holiday gifts and these have given me a range of wonderful choices. Thank you for all these links, too.
Merci! Did you go with your usual size, or size up or down? I’m usually a US4 in Max Mara (example in Manuela and Rialto coats), but size down to a US2 when the styles are oversized (example Teddy Coat). Merci encore! ❤

If you want to look old money or quiet luxury ditch denim. Denim cheapens appearance every single time. Just get rid of denim especially light blue, just don’t wear it.

I 100% agree! Wrinkled clothing makes a person look disheveled, like they don’t care, and also makes even an expensive piece look cheap.
VERY VALUABLE INFORMATION ALICE!!!!
MANY THANKS!!!!
PETS TO NAPO!!!!❤!!!
