I first tried this new technique on copy paper with not much success. Then I thought of watercolor paper which, by nature, holds the wetness longer, and it worked with a cheap pen! Thank you!

This was how I first learned to emboss 18 years ago! I still have the paper lampshade that I embellished using this old technique. Used Bic ballpoint pen and gold embossing powder and I fell in love with heat embossing!

  • @EmunahCreative

Genius! Also turn all your dye inks into pigment inks by first coating the stamp with glycerin (soak a pad or use versamark) and then coat the stamp directly with dye (water based) ink. The glycerin will stick to the stamp and the colored dye in will come off on the paper. Then use clear embossing powder and heat set. Save a ton of money with double duty! Enjoy!

Tarryn, I used to be a teacher when I was younger and so I researched what is making the pens work for your great idea. Embossing ink in a stamp pad is glycerin and the pens have glycerin in them as well. That’s what helps the ball roll in the paper mate pens. I have a ton of them from my daughters old school supplies and they’re in the packages so I was able to read the ingredients. I’m going to try when my bff’s daughter comes over. She loves crafting and this will show her something new and it won’t be messy or wasteful. Still in shock! Lol

Great video. I used those lovely but expensive copic pens but had a long rest from crafting and I cannot afford at the moment a new set and was looking for cheaper alternatives. I wondered about papermate colour pens as so much cheaper and I know from past experience they do not dry immediately. (Yes had a few smudges writing messages and closing card too soon). I did a search asking the question and came to your video. A very useful video. I have some other cheapo pens that smudge if touch too soon so will try those. Thanks for pointing out the obvious as we all automatically go for expensive craft supplies when not always necessary. I am looking at videos overall to find more frugal ways of crafting as I used to spend a fortune.
