    I love this idea! I had expected that you would be using gum Arabic and making watercolor from the eye shadows. That was what I was thinking of doing with the eye shadows but was expecting to have to buy the gum Arabic to do it. But your idea is awesome and I've got tons of school glue - I stocked up and was afraid I wouldn't be able to use it all, so you've helped me out two-fold. Thanks a bunch! LOVE your layout too - awesome work! Tfs :)

    You may want to try mixing your eyeshadow with undiluted acrylic paint (please use only one layer or you will get the same warping and buckling) or you may want to try mixing your eyeshadow with glue stick instead of liquid white school glue.The reason for this is that paint that has WATER in it causes warping and buckling when applied to paper or cardboard/cardstock.

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks for the insight. Not sure how easy it would be to mix it with school glue? Perhaps spreading it on the page and then added a layer of eyeshadow after? Worth a try though, it will save the paper from warping. Thanks, adrienne. I will give it a try.

      @Ldybugsrus-Nadine 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      put a layer of wax paper between the page being worked and the next and mist the back lightly to relax the paper then apply the glue and shadow paint to the front that should even out the tension and prevent the warping.

    Hi there! I have just discovered your video & as I use eyeshadows & not all are "me", Ii can now use those that I used to run on, as a paste. I have put fine glitter in PVA glue before so will use that plus some water. Lovely journal page. I am a cardmaker. I knit tiny garments to put on some of my cards & never make 2 the same. I use serviettes, holographic cardstock, stamping, die cutting etc. Acetate jar fronts with 2 jar die cuts under & 1 on top would create a gr8 shaker card. Now THAT'S me. Thanks again for sharing! 🥰🦘🦘🦘 Adelaide SA

    Try using an acrylic Matt medium instead of glue. Also you need to use a thicker paper like a board that won’t warp. You could buy a watercolor block.

    That’s so cool! I’m curious if you have tried mixing it with white paint. Or even just water. I wonder what kind of a effect you would get? :-)

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It won't work with just water, it needs a binding agent to stick to the paper. I didn't use paint, although it would work, the video was about "making paint", so it thought using paint might defeat the purpose of the video. Thanks for your comments!

    This eyeshadow you're using is very pigmented and beautiful in color! What is this brand? I remember I had a light blue one in that brand specifically, but can't remember the name... But thanks for the idea! Never thought of using eyeshadow for embossing or painting. Thanks!!!!

    • @teatimewithtarryn

      Yes those eye shadows are gorgeous, the fact that they are so pigmented was actually the reason I bought them and then didn't wear them. The brand is Lise Watier. I haven't seen them on the shelves in a while. Thanks for the question!

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine did not transfer at all. The glue sealed it in nicely, it had a nice shiny surface and the powder was locked in.

    I did try to made watercolor from an old eyeshadow palette. I bought the gum Arabic and oxgall, but i don't think it gets really smooth. Or at least. Not right after the mixing.
    Are there more other ways then using glue???
    It was meant to be paint in a pallet, and using it on the go. And only need to add water.

    "...or you can mix it with clear paint." Clear paint?

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here are a couple if you are interested in getting some clear paint: www.amazon.ca/Prima-Marketing-961466-Basics-Gesso/dp/B00MX79XNI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1534961263&sr=8-4&keywords=clear+paint or www.amazon.ca/Martin-F-Weber-Paint-Transparentizing-Medium/dp/B007LARSWK/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1534961263&sr=8-7&keywords=clear+paint depends on the type of paint you would like. Clear paint is usually used to add some transparency to your paint or even as a protective coat over a finished piece. It can be used alone but Its normally bought for mixing and works great mixed with powder mediums. Hope that helps.

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should also mention, you can get different finishes too. The one I have is an acrylic clear paint and is a matte finish but you can also get it so it tries with a more glossy coat. Be sure to check to make sure you are also getting the finish you want.
