      Are you aware of this song existing anywhere else than the film (natural born killers)... It's weird it's (not conclusively speaking but) my favourite piece of Dylan genius and I owe hearing it to a fairly contradictory and silly (though impressive in parts and in Harlesons performance) 90s Oliver stone film.

      55 and fell in love with his music as a 16 year old. Saw him first time live summer of 84, as a 17 year old. Boy, what a concert!

      I'm 77...been a fan since 60s...visited a coffee house in the village in '67 but didn't see him ...poetry does heal wounds inflicted by reason and if you can't say it with pictures...keep your strictures

    a nice old song ....i remember listening to jo stafford singing it on the radio in the 1950's..i'm sure bob was listening too..we're about the same age..i'm 82....bob does a beautiful job singing this old song..makes me well up...thank you bob..love, roz

    Dylan’s had such a long career and so many recording sessions and concerts that I bet every so often something comes along and startles even him, having forgotten all about it because of the vastness of his works.

    I've been playing Bob's songs since my mom showed me 3 chords, C F and G as a young 9-year-old. He's had more influence on the musicians than anyone in the world. No one can compare to Bob Dylan. He does it his way, and you take it or leave it. Most people take it and love it. Glad I became aware of his songs from the beginning. You get what you get from his songs, and it will most likely be different every time. According to your mood. And that's the way he presents it each time he does it. That's true art.

    really thought this was an early Bob Dylan song, never heard it before, early hit for some band called Duprees, but a beautiful melody/lyric and Dylan's voice is perfect here, I found a gem here.

    I always thought Bob Dylan always played his own original songs. I never heard this cover of Joe Staffords 1952 hit. Awesome.

      I saw Bob and Van "The Man" Morrison together, it was pretty amazing. I also saw Bob and a young Jewel. Amazing shows ❤️

    As usual he did it once for the movie, never to be played again. Interesting how he can write a song on the fly and it becomes the top song for three or four groups. Look up Wagon Wheel.

    I had no idea Bob Dylan wrote this. The Patsy Cline version is almost impossible to rival because her voice was so beautiful and I'm not going to lie when the first couple of sentences of this hit, my ears almost exploded. I love Dylan but this is a tough listen LOL

    The woman at the end of this - with Dylan (at 3.08) was someone very special to him - I remember reading an article about them. Can someone help me here with my memory?
    And yes, Dylan is WAY UP THERE amongst the greatest of his time!

      Joni James was the first to record it in February 1952.Jo Stafford, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald and Patsy Cline all recorded before the Duprees recorded in 1962.

      John Lennon referred to Dylan in the song Yer Blues from the white album referencing Dylan’s song Ballad of a Thin Man. Years later the Counting Crows pay homage to Dylan in Me and Mr. Jones.
