Shona has proven that she has bad judgment when it comes to parenting and should have stayed out of it and let David go to the police. They are letting Max go down a bad road. If Max nearly drugging Daniel so he can do whatever he wanted to him wasn't enough to get the authorities involved, then Max has no hope. At this point David and Shona would probably help bury the body if Max killed someone.
Gail, Nick and Sarah were pretty horrible to him. Nick abandoned him, Gail had no sympathy when she found out that she wanted him aborted and Sarah was too wrapped in all of her personal drama to care about her brother.
