Wow this brings back memories. I remember playing for months to build up enough resources to make a nether portal, which would just make the nether tower which after use became a permanent fixture on your survival planet. I actually preferred the smaller planets before they made them infinitely big. Those were the days.

Than use mods to undo certain updates or use jailbreak minecraft versions where you can just play the version you want.
Mojang is not forcing you to accept all the changes:)
