    I bought the R6 Mark II and it was so easy to navigate. Then I got the R5 Mark II and it was a whole new crazy world. What the heck was going on? from the start. Thank you for helping me set up the camera! Very useful. I have been shooting for over 25 years and this new technology is kicking me. Hope to see more helpful videos in the future. Thanks!

    If you use the silent shutter in the menu, then the shutter will not close upon power down. That's the main different between electronic shutter and silent shutter. If you use the electronic shutter and set the shutter to close upon power down, that keeps your shutter from getting dust. I just like to point this out because I learned it the hard way and had to clean my shutter right before a shoot because i had huge bits of dust on it!!! Those dust spots would have been in every photo I took.

    You have c1, c2, and c3 for all M, Av, Tv, P, etc modes, so you do have more than 3, but I too would like to have say six. But honestly, I forget what I put into each one. So unless you are switching between them so much that you can remember how each one is set, having too many is a PITA. :)

    Nice overview!
    Some tips though:
    - if you turn beep off and shoot electronic the camera will not close the shutter on shutdown. You can enable beeps and turn down all volumes to still shoot silently but it will engage the shutter on shutdown
    - subject detection are counter intuitive. They don't necessarily improve by having more options. On Sony camera's for example you get worse results choosing birds or animals over the combined bird/animal option. This is because the camera has less models to try to make sense of what is in the image.
    Also switching between more options could be cumbersome if you shoot several subjects.
    Thanks again!

      Your second point make sense sometimes too many options can make things cumbersome. However I did experience tracking issues when tracking a plane while vehicle detection was on so maybe the setting needs some tweaking.
      Regarding your first point I don't know if something got lost in the text but I have shutter down on, beep off and I'm shooting in electronic shutter and the shutter closes when I shut down the camera. If you are having issues with the shutter closing maybe there is another setting at play?

      @@vaskoobscura_ Ah I just got into the Canon ecosystem and have 1 lens for now so I don't experience that happening with the shutter, But it was mentioned in several review videos that shooting electronic without sound makes the shutter stay open.
      Maybe it isn't the beep setting but the silent shutter enabled that causes it. I'll do some tests later on to confirm that.

    Really nice overview! Question for you: You mentioned the vertical display @18:40 where the screen information shifts vertically in portrait display mode. Does this function work on the LCD as well as the viewfinder?

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Only in the viewfinder as far as I know. I haven't found a setting that enables that feature in the LCD.

      @@vaskoobscura_ Thanks for your quick response. That’s disappointing and makes no sense to me. Why limit it to just the VF? Fuji, Nikon and now Leica have the same feature but it’s available in both the VF and the LCD like it should be. Some people find this feature is irrelevant, but once I used a camera that had it, it’s now hard for me to go back.

    For some odd reason, I can only recall the C1 setting on my camera. Whenever I attempt to modify something and save it to C2 or C3, the options become grayed out when I recall them. However, I am able to store any setting I desire on my card.

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is really strange. I haven't experienced that issue. Maybe contact Canon support and let them know of it. Maybe it's a glitch that can be fixed in a firmware update.

    Vehicle tracks motorcycles and planes, I don't know ships or watercraft because I haven't tried it yet.

    • @vaskoobscura_
      @vaskoobscura_  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Well apparently vehicle doesn't track planes very well. There were several times the camera decided to track something other than planes in the scene. Hopefully that is something that can be fixed in firmware.

      @yomismo1945 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @vaskoobscura_ that happens because you have it in AF continue or probably on auto tracking. With the regular R5, it gets confused very often, but with the Mark II, it hasn't happened to me yet.
      Also, I can give you tips about calibrating the eye control feature I haven't seen anywhere online or Canon manuals.
