- I was looking for a way to show case fall leaves, one of my all time favorite things, and this idea popped into my mind.

Here are my commonly used tools/equipment if you'd like to try them out....
- Lathe: (amzn.to/3orYsOy) this lathe is freaking amazing, very well built, solid, strong, variable speed, 110 or 220 volt. I couldn't have designed it better.
- Lathe tools: (amzn.to/3agd3ay) carbide tip, (amzn.to/3t5iMsA) great beginner set
- File Sander: (amzn.to/36o3hlE), this is the cheapest and highest quality I've found. Fantastic for those hard to get to sanding projects.
- Carving tool: (amzn.to/2MjTd6x), Rotozips are awesome, a little too powerful for small detail but great for roughing out the medium sized projects.
- Angle Grinder: (amzn.to/36lgewG), one of my most indispensable tools, (amzn.to/3iXtNHW) the flat head helps get into tight spaces, carving and sanding disks are a life saver.
- Grinder Carving Disk: (amzn.to/39oWqKG), this is a really great disk for roughing out medium sized projects
- Grinder Sanding Disks: (amzn.to/3cj91Rv), fantastic for sanding and minor-moderate shaping stages
- Round Sanding System: (amzn.to/3r11N8Q) sleeves go around an inflatable ball (amzn.to/2KVCUvW )or make your own foam ball, attaches to a drill, great for tight corners.
- Palm Sander: (amzn.to/3r1mJg8), the most important sanding tool, used on almost every job. I like the size of the sand paper for both this and on the lathe by hand.
- Chain Saw: (amzn.to/2MbWNj2), has worked well for years, I also bought this electric one (amzn.to/3qZOqpp) for the quieter in the garage projects
- Oscillating Tool: (amzn.to/3puK4q1) great for cutting and sanding sharp corners and tight spots.
- Super Glue: (amzn.to/3pFg5vT) thin and runny, perfect for stabilizing bark or other unstable wood.
- Resin: (amzn.to/3t7WSVo), one of the cheaper but higher quality, does it all resins. Great results.
- Pigments: amzn.to/3sYC5ng, great quality for resin
- Pressure Pot: (amzn.to/3tfp1u2) 5 gallon for the big resin projects to get rid of bubbles, or (amzn.to/3pwX0M8) for the smaller average jobs 2.5 gallon, both need minor modifications to work.
- Protection: (amzn.to/39t3lm0), best face shield yet for carving and lathe work

hi Dan it is so beautiful, we had autumn and are now in winter, when I look at this stunning bowl I think of all the leaves falling from trees. it is a fantastic time of the year to me it means with every season God is cleaning nature. Enjoy it it is so wonderful.

Great looking bowl! The land lot in front of me, which I stare at through my window is all birch and fell birch trees and I have so many maple leaves to rake right now. That lathe is much smaller than the Rikon in other videos you show, for a person with less space and budget this is inspiring. I see pens being made on small lathes but nothing great like this piece. Tempting to see if I could purchase a small lathe and easily recoup my costs? I could see being proud to offer a potential purchaser of a piece as such. Well done.

Dan, love the concept and that your work benefits a charity. I think you'd serve yourself better by getting a smoother finish from your tools and then power sanding to a higher grit (you can even wet sand resin). You can then use a polish and micro-crystalline polish (or friction polish)to get that glass-like finish you're seeking. Definitely like the concept and Fall influences.

My only suggestion would be to sand down a lot more. And then use an abrasive paste then a polish it would have came out even more clear! But that was sick! Love it and what a great idea with the leaves 🍃🍁🍂
