In a matter of fact political situation was in those times such, that you could easily have an opportunity, as a Finnish patriot, to participate in span of 30 years to 5 conflicts which you could call separate wars. Those were: WWI as a jaeger trainee on Germany East Front, Finnish Independence war, Estonia Independence war, Winter War and Continuation War. Possibly there's a person, who participated also in Lapland war against Germans in addition to all the previous ones. But it's slightly doubtful as every war takes it toll and I don't know anyone who would have done it.
Those were turbulent times in Northern Europe and Russia.
And the bullet he took was for Estonia.

my great granfather was in vietnam as a chaplin he comforted us soldiers (while under fire) who were dying and dragged others to safety he was later shot in the back by a sniper

Mon père, naguère, était soldat, dans cette guerre perdue où votre père a péri vainqueur. Né en 1920, mon père devait être de la même génération que le votre. Tous deux de très jeunes gens dans le tourment. J'aime à ies imaginer, tous les deux, autour d'un feu de bois, sur le coin d'un champ couvert de neige, à échanger vin contre vodka. Le silence aurait parlé de fraternité et peut-être, bouteilles étant bien entamées, aurait-ils échangé des chants, comme pour inviter leurs amis déjà partis. Et la mémoire me revient, du très beau film de Bondarchuck, "Guerre & Paix" inspiré de Tolstoï. À la fin du film, autour d'un paisible feu dans la neige, les soldats-paysans russes ont la noblesse d'âme d'inviter leur prisonnier, un français, soldat-paysan comme eux, à lancer un chant. Et là, s'élève doucement un hymne magnifique remontant au bon roi Henri IV de France. Et ce chant si puissant et si bon monte au dessus du bois de bouleaux, repris par les soldats russes comme un hymne simple et chaleureux à la Paix et au Peuple. Que Vive la Russie ! Que Vive la France ! Quand des amis se retrouvent au milieu d'un pont, leur embrassade contient un feu divin. Gratitude ! Charles , en France, fils d'un imprimeur-graveur.

Bravo ! le pouvoir politique et économique (issu des collabos, quoi qu'on dise) a beau faire en Occident, il y a toujours des camarades qui' n'oublient pas l'Histoire, ni ce qu'ils doivent au peuple soviétique.
Peu mesurent tout ce que nous avons perdu nous aussi avec la fin de l'URSS. Et peu aussi mesurent ce que l'URSS nous a permis de gagner ici, en droits !
A propos, en France, il y a eu 54 bataillons de partisans soviétiques, environ 10 000 combattants soviétiques ( et pas des moindres) dont le seul bataillon entièrement féminin. Ces partisans soviétiques étaient des évadés des camps de travail nazis ( dans les mines, ou sur le chantier du Mur de l'Atlantique). Très peu de gens savent cela en France. L'un des combattants les plus connus fut Vasil Poryk...
Mais si les Français savaient tous cela, ils n'écouteraient plus leurs dirigeants politiques...

The birth of the USSR was in the 20s of the 20th century, the formation-30-40s, the heyday-after the Second World war (50-70 years), the decline-the end of the 70s and mid-80s, the death-the end of the 80s and until 1991.
If it were not for the entrenched elite of the USSR, I think the decline would have lasted as long as the heyday - 20 years (until the end of the 90's), and if it were not for the traitor-Gorbachev (Yes, unlike the West, they hate him at Home) and his accomplice Shevardnadze, then the decline would have come much later.

Not once since the collapse of the Soviet Union have Communists won a majority in Parliament. As in Eastern Europe (Poland, for example).
