- I moved just a few blocks away, and I have my own dedicated studio room now!! Woo! I've always wanted to cover this with Josh, so it felt like a good inaugural recording for the space.

When Paul's first solo album, McCartney, came out, it was met with some critical confusion and ridicule. Why did it sound so casual and raw? Did it contribute to the breakup of The Beatles? But contemporary opinions have come around, and I've always found something beautiful and striking in "McCartney": it captures a lonely, lost, and incredibly gifted musician exploring his grief and trying not to take everything so seriously all at the same time. Not only that, it's insane that ANYONE was able to record themselves "at home" in such incredible quality in the late-60s. Paul just casually trail-blazing, you know, as he does.
Such an inspiration for me, and a highly recommended listen.

@@carsonmckeemusic 321 shows amazing insights on how his songs, melodies, and lyrics came out of the creative process...the Beatles were obviously unlike anything we ever saw, and perhaps will never see again. but hey...don't let that discourage you and Josh. McCartney was so tuneful. This album slayed when it came out, with its ragged simplicity and obvious love-smitten theme. You guys did this song -- and songwriter -- proud.

I totally agree. I love how Josh in particular gets these cheesy grins when he is in the zone but also Carson. I love seeing the new gear as well. Every now and then you notice a new guitar or a new mic.

Damn, that was as good as Paul ever did it!! I mean just fantastic. When McCartney came out and wasn't well received, I couldn't understand it. It was sooo good and raw. Then again, Paul was my favorite Beatle so I guess that's why. You guys are my favorites now and I love it when you do the oldies for us oldies! Keep it up! So good. Who wants to fill the world with silly love songs? Glad you do!
I totally agree. I think that At that time music critics were just too obsessed by the Beatles quarrel to be able to understand the immense quality of McCartney's first records. Looking at them now it's even too easy to recognize that an album like RAM is a timeless masterpiece, even better than many Beatles records. And McCartney I is very close to that quality.

@@danieleventura3810 as a lifetime McCartney/Beatles fan, I can't agree with you more. McCartney's solo work through the 70's was simply amazing, and more often than not underrated and quite unfairly criticized in a very negative light, partly and quite literally by a conspiracy perpetrated by the then editor of Rolling Stone. There are even gems on Wild Life. McCartney can make a beautiful song and melody out of any situation or anything that catches his fancy. It simply flows from him like water from a fountain.
