  • The Band performed Minstrel Boy, Wearing of the Green, and Rakes of Mallow at the 2015 Bock Fest. "Minstrel Boy" is an Irish patriotic song written by Thomas Moore (1779-1852) who set it to the melody of The Moreen, an old Irish air. "Wearing of the Green" is an Irish street ballad lamenting the repression of supporters of the Irish Rebellion of 1798. It is to an old Irish air, and proclaims that "they are hanging men and women for the wearing of the green." "Rakes of Mallow" is a traditional Irish song and polka. The song is about the "rakes" from the town of Mallow, a town in County Cork. A "rake" is an old expression for an man who likes to drink, fight, and raise a little hell. The song is also used as a fight song for Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans and was also featured for fight scenes in the film "The Quiet Man" starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.

2 guys by the drummer are idiot Cops that aren't playing. I love cops, but hate them (not like current a-holes stuff) just piper band cops. CPD, some cool pipers, some a holes. Anyway thanks for posting. Sounds great. 5 years later and I hope you are all well, and the new guys learned the pipes.
