Finally, my project is completed! Behold.. my "Tales of the Abyss: Mystic Arte Exhibition"!

17 years later and I still love all of these artes! Jade's Indignation is always #1. Also the amount of auto Angel's Tear hurts my soul....and pow hammers...Van getting pow hammer'd
There is something truly badass about reid/rid screaming "I WONT LOOSE" while using aurora wall. He'll be always my fav tales of character

That moment when you realize that Luke's Lost Fon Drive is basically him blasting monsters with the same jet fuel used to power the Albion.
I love how everything goes silent before Nebilim says "You just might die."
Same! Its my favorite line.
After playing ToX2 and watching this.. I'd have to say that the DUB for mystic artes in this game is superior. Especially Nebilims.
Sync has the coolest Mystic Artes
On my 2nd playthrough, I always felt bad when I spammed Ion like, 5 times in a boss battle. He's supposed to faint every time he uses that thing, but I keep dragging him out.
All the second Mystic Artes are in the New Game+ mode only. To use any Mystic Arte though, you've got to have the AD Skill "Special" first. Then, check each character's Artes list, and look for on that says "Arcane" in its description. When in battle, if you use an Arcane type arte while in Overlimit and hold down the basic attack button while the arte is going, you'll use a Mystic Arte as soon as the arcane finishes. Hope that helped you, Mystic Artes are part of why Tales is so great :)
I really like how you paired everyone's mystic artes with their rivals. Very well done.
Abyss had one of the best story's of any Tales game.
I love Sync because he fights like a freaking badass! He doesn't need swords, guns, axes, or lances. He fights with his fists and his spells.

There are certain requirements to get all of those and you have to be on your second playthrough. for example, indignation becomes available after Jade has used thunder blade 200 times
as for the coliseum people they are all from past tales of games. Mint from Tales of Phantasia, Philia Phillis from Tales of Destiny, Reid Hershel from Tales of Eternia, and Nanaly Fletch from Tales of Destiny 2
Luke's Viscount costume is when u start the Ryu-albert books (talk to Ramdas when Natalia rejoins the group after Van is defeated for the first time) and after the tower of rem event.
Natilia's Adventurous princess is when u find all the search points then talk to Din with the curios princess title on.
That's a lot of Big Bang Mystic Artes...
I agree. The character's pretty much all fit their voices completely, especially Jade. Maybe not natalia in my opinion though, sometimes her voice throws me off for some reason and doesn't make me feel like it's still Natalia.
@10zachhenninger Also Guy's sword is the Jewel of Gardios
There are three events needed to get the Jewel of Gardios:
1. before the Peace Treaty is made, go to the Fabre Manor and speak to Pere.
2. after Natalia rejoins you after the Absorption Gate, go to the Fabre Manor and speak to Pere again.
3. after entering eldrant once, return to the Fabre Manor, you will recieve the sword.

It was probably already answered, but dying moon is unlocked only on the 2nd playthrough in a newgame+ along with her secondary mystic arte. You activate dying moon by holding down the attack button, X, during final fury.
Poor Guy though. lol

XD I love how Mint's like "LEAVE IT TO ME!" twice. Like she was useful or something.
Indignation and ESPECIALLY Fragmented End are orgasms in the form of Mystic Artes.
And if I didn't know better and I suddenly saw "20000 Gald Spent" after Fever Time, I'd probably have a seizure.

Luke:(Ion)=2nd playthrough,hold x after Radiant Howl/(Lost Fon Drive)=2nd playthrough,have Key of Lorelei,& health at 15%(in the red.)
Tear:(Fortune's Ark)=all songs be used 50x,after using Judgement.Hold x during this to heal evryone.
Jade:(Indignation)=Thunder Blade must be used 200x,activate Overlimit & continue pressing R2 until it activates.
Guy:(Brilliant Overlord)=2nd playthrough,equip Jewel of Gardios,& have used Final Cross 150x

Either by A) Finding them in a few places B) Stealing from "Gloomietta" in later fights or C) Making them at Din's shop. Also the appearence does change with her costumes as well.

@iiLeGiT101 You have to be on your 2nd playthrough or further in order to use Fortune's Arc. Tear needs all fonic hyms at at least 50 usage as well.
During Overlimit cast Judgment, and the arte can be extended to heal all allies by holding down X (You'll need 100 TP to use it though).
to me, lost fon drive is one of the coolest mystic artes/hi ougis namco has ever created
That's Nebilim. She's an optional boss battle you can face after collecting all 6 Catalyst Weapons in the game. You get the first one during the storyline after killing the Blade Rex in Meggiora Highlands.

@Klibble2212 actually they are useing tales chars. from multiple games and the order of them are: Mint Adnade from ToP, i dont know that one, i forgot his name but he's in ToE, Nanaly Fletch from ToD2, and the last one is Philia Phillis from ToD. and the only other game from the Tales series for Ps2 is Tales of Legendia
There are 2 songs used in this vid. The first one is Everlasting Fight. The one that plays 5:05 onwards is Awkward Justice.
the fonon circle happens only when there is a high concentration of that fonon for example if there is a high concentration of wind fonon then there would be a green field of fonons if its no color then there is a low concentration of field of fonons, so you need to use strong spells that create that field and will have the color with it
There are special versions of tokunaga that can be found in those storage house minigames, and simply changing Anise's costume will also change tokunaga's appearance.
Tear deserves more than 1 mystic arte
after finishing the game, using thunder blade at least 200 times and having 100 tp at least, you're able to get it.
get in overlimits, and continue pressing R2 until jade does indignation. it consumes 100 tp, so if you don't have that much he won't do it xD
@DerpBox There's a huge sidequest you have to go through and you also need the Refined Flightstone, Mieu Fire 2, and I think you need Mieu Wings to actually do the sidequest.
I always thought this is one of the saddest tales of game.
+shathin chittum I've played 3 Tales of (Vesperia, Abyss and DoaNW) but I think the saddest might be the original (Japanese version) of Tales of Symphonia Dawn of a New World's: the Bad ending (there are 3 endings), but originally it ends with a note-paper message from Marta saying she can't live without Emil and it's basically a suicide note..(it's toned down in English to a sad diary note)
I sometimes see people complaining about Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World, but it's a fantastic game, I much preferred it to Tales of the Abyss because you can train monsters as pets, and then have them fight auto in the coliseum! Honestly some of the best monsters you can get are soo good too, they make Pokemon look lame. Also the dialogue is voiced over properly and is really funny and sarcastic in places which I liked. ;-)
+Gems Louise I see and agree with that assessment but The reason I say this is the saddest is because unlike ToSDNW because there is no changing how the story ends.

@DerpBox It's kinda worth it in the end. If you manage to beat her, you get the Blue Dice which increases the amount of GRADE from each battle. Also if you beat her on Very Hard or Unknown, you can get one of Luke's best titles.
OK, here are ALL the other Mystic Artes and how to do them (All are second playthrough):
- Brilliant Overlord (Guy): Jewel of Gardios sword equiped, HP at 50% or lower, use Final Cross 150 times, use Final Cross in overlimit.
- Lost Fon Drive (Luke): Complete Key of Lorelei equiped, HP at 15% or lower, requires 50 TP, press X, square, and circle at the same time in overlimit.
- Ion Extension: Hold X for the duration of Radiant Howl, Ion has to be traveling with you.
Don't worry,you're not. I'll try to answer anything you ask about most Tales of games(Or any other game)anytime you ask & try my best to answer them. I've only played the PS2 version,but after a bit of searching,I'm pretty sure the conditions for the special MA's are still the same since the 3DS version is a remake but with different controls. So if you can get the hang of that,you're good to go.
Go into Overlimit by pressing right on the d-pad (+). Then step into a Field of Fonons (FOF Circle) and use an Base Art that turns Arcane. (Such as Fang Blade into Lightning Tiger Blade when stepping into a Green or White FOF.) Then hold down A. That will activate the Mystic Art.
LOL! It was so funny on Anise's Final Fury-Dying Moon. Where Anise said 'I'm not done yet!' and Arietta said 'What the!?!'. XD
I forgot how good the Abyss cut-ins were, esp all those Nebilim cut-ins.
I'm sorry for bothering you with this,but I didn't feel right not telling everything about Mystic Artes. So here's the rest:
Natalia:(Noble Roar)=2nd playthrough,equip the Elven Bow,(a weapon you can get by trading certain items at Din's Shop in Chesedonia),& have used Piercing Line 150x.
Anise:(Dying Moon)2nd playthough & can use the original M.Arte./(Fever Time)=2nd Playthrough, & the spell,Lucky must be used 100x.
I hope all of this info I gave you helps you in the game.

On a side note though, Guy getting Pow Hammered at 4:54 really made me LOL. XD
Simply equip the Special Skill, go into over limit, and hold the arte button after using an Arcane arte. For Magic users, just use a high level spell. They're the artes with a square around the icon.
@nongkong03 That glitch is caused when one of your party members does a MA with an extension (ion, or duing moon) to fix it, just do the MA again without the extension. That should stop the infinite dead end casting :)
@WeirdWalrus9 well it was in every single tales game in the world before vesperia. and abyss did come out a couple years before vesperia. in other words as far as america is concerned, Rita was the LAST person to use Indignation. in japan its probably in hearts and graces, etc.
It might just be me, but Indignation and Fever Time seem perfectly synched with Everlasting Fight, which is probably my favorite battle theme in this game.
That ups the epic factor even more. ^^
It's specific to each character. Some need certain weapons, certain criteria etc.
me too. sync is my favorite character out of the whole game then regret. i totally adore harrowing gale! i love the wya he says now you die! also prism ballet and fragmented end
Lost Fon Drive is also an instant (if you're good), and Indignation requires no pre-cast, though it isn't instant.

I have to say "OMG!!!" to Reid's Aurora Artes and Burning Phoenix. Congratulations, you just convinced me to buy this game.
Brilliant Overlord - be on New Game+, have used Final Cross 150+ times with Guy on that playthrough, and have equipped the Jewel of Guardios weapon (from the sidequest of the same name) on Guy. Once your HP is below half, activating Mystic Arte off of Final Cross will result in Brilliant Overlord instead of Razing Phoenix.
Dying Moon - New Game+, keep holding down the attack button during the basic Mystic Arte, once it finishes Dying Moon will be used.
- Fortune's Arc (Tear): Have these attacks: Force Field, Holy Song, Judgment, Resurrection, and Grand Cross, use those 5 artes 50 times, requires 100 TP, use Judgment in Overlimit.
- Fortune's Arc Extension (Tear): Hold X for the duration of Fortune's Arc
As for Nibelim you fight her the same way as symphonia's abssion collect all the weapons associated with the quest then enter Nibelims Crag to fight her.
However the flight stone via Mt Roneal + Mieu Fire 2 is required to fight her as well.
It plays during the cameo battle. Mix of Destiny, Eternia, Destiny 2, and Phantasia, in that order.
- Dying Moon (Anise): Hold X for the duration of Final Fury
- Fever Time (Anise): HP at 100%, 20,000 Gald available, Use Lucky 100 times, requires 1 TP, use Lucky in Overlimit
- Noble Roar (Natalia): Elven Bow equipped, use Piercing Line 150 times, use Piercing Line in Overlimit
- Indignation (Jade): Use Thunder Blade 200 times, requires 100 TP, Hold R2 for 5 seconds in Overlimit

And good ol' Namco re-using Dhaos' moves AGAIN (Dhaos Lasor/Corridor, Sekundes Lasor/Corridor, Yggdrasil Lasor/Corridor, Fragmented End). Yay for originality!
@TheCrimsonTorrent From what I know, Fragmented end is a bigger version of Super Dhaos Lazer. And in order to use Indignation you must use thunder blade X number of times (200?) and during the Limit Break hit a combo of buttons. Looking it up on google is probably more effective than asking people on TH-cam though.
Mystic Artes of the Cameo Characters are so cool. Especially Sacred Penance of Phillia and Wild Geese of Nanaly Fletch.

Titles, Many characters have titles that give them different costumes but most can only be gotten near the end of the game, of course you can just purchase the title option in the grade shop to have them at the beginning of the 2nd play through

it's a AD skill everyone can learn. I think it's call "Power Hammer Revenge" or something like that,
the fonnon or hymm arte i think when the element circle appears in the ground and u need a specific skill with the same element to cast (example wind circle glowing green means u can use a skill that has wind element in order to activate the super arte instead of normal arte)
Arietta has a different costume in the "duel" fight. Look at the cut-in for the second Evil Light against the first one. as for Big Bang, I'm sure he felt he might as well put the duel fight version of that in as well since Evil Light is being shown twice.
As for learning new ones must beat the game first since the game does have 2nd playthrough only hi ougis.
Jade Thunder Blade x200 uses then hold down the button thats used to trigger Overlimits mode until Indignation triggers.
Fever Time: use Lucky for Anise x150 times then use Lucky in Overlimits mode (costs 20,000 gald) to use it and limited to once per battle. Hold down attack button during Final Fury to use a extension of it.
Holy shit!!! +80,000 dmg from one MA! that is the ultimate MA! you can't be that. I wish a "playable" character in these tales of games could use that.
Once you have the key of lorelei, and when Luke's hp is in red numbers, go overlimit and press the X O and square all at the same time

You need to equip the Key of Lorelei, be in the red zone (Of your HP, that is), then hit Attack, Arte, and Guard all at once. Square, Circle, and X, by default, if I remember correctly.

okay, here my version of a breakdown, as i've never succeeded, but you need skill special (lvl 30?) and weapon called "elven bow" after using piercing line over 200 times, use it with elven bow equipped during overlimit, and that should trigger it

You can use Ion as an extension of Lukes Radiant Howl on your second play through.

@aaronsings007 Here's what I've heard. There's a system save file for Abyss that, among other things, records whether you've beaten the game. If you've lost or deleted that file, the sound test option won't be on the main menu and you won't be able to use the bonus Mystic Artes. You'll have to beat the game again even if you have New Game + saves.

FUN FACT: Indignation uses the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. Look it up and you'll also notice words like that a number of the names from the game (St. Binah, Hod, Grand Chokma, etc.) are borrowed from Kabbalah.

Activation: Hold Guard+Attack+Tech at the same time
Fortune's Ark
Requirements: Completed 1st playthrough, 100 TP, all hymns used 50+

Fortune's Ark Extension: Hold X during Fortune's Ark
Indignation
Requirements: Completed 1st playthrough, 100 TP, used Thunder Blade 200+
Activation: Hold R2 during Overlimit and don't move around
@Veghesther You only need to be at < 50% HP to use Brilliant Overlord. And it's actually really good because it can be used repeatedly in a single battle unlike other second playthrough hi-ougis.
