Hi MoneyMom, a head's up is info before you need it. You had a major repair expense. If, and only if, you need to repair your bathroom, do yourself a favor and ADA it. I have never shopped there for anything other than a greeting card once or twice. What items are people buying there? I am just curious. I don't use commercial cleaning products, don't need any more holiday decor, use minimal health and beauty products. The items seem to be in very small quantities. People seem to love it and can't get enough. What am I missing?!
@@penelopeprimrose90 I visit Dollar Tree about once a month for the substantial savings on certain items. I buy shelf-stable milk and almond milk, greeting cards, shampoo, bubble bath, seed packets, and occasionally other food and household items.
@penelopeprimrose90 I purchase many things like seasonal stuff, condensed soups, can beans, cleaning supplies (which I do enjoy), kitchen stuff (parchment paper, plastic bags, utensils and other), storage containers, and so many more. Stuff that fits my budget and I enjoy. I am not a minimalist. Things my children might need for school projects.
@@penelopeprimrose90our seniors complex is having a memorial for two different tenants next week. Was not close to them. Was shopping two days ago at two different grocery stores and the flower choices beautiful but shockingly high. Went to a Farmers Market yesterday, bought two bunches $10 each. Then went to the Dollar tree and found two heavy, beautiful vases, imprinted (?) glass design for $3 each. Was not close in relations with either of these tenants, but found two beautiful, appropriate sympathy cards fifty cents each. Was not in the store for very long. But was able to notice in some aisles, many items being offered different than the kind of typical, expected stuff. And many prices $3-$5. Leggings were $5 each. Yes, it's a shock as I will have to be more careful with the different prices. But there are clearly marked signage that some of the newer items are now $3 or $5. Many of these items are definitely good buys. Was very impressed at the imprinted glass(?)vases I choose. Heavy and they look simple, classy and expensive. Wow, that is amazing how much you can save. I have a suggestion about the teeth cleaning. Universities that have dental schools will do dental cleaning for a VERY LOW cost. If you are in the Dallas area I am sure you can find one!
Dawn, when you get ready to have your dental cleaning please please shop around. That price of $800 is a total rip off. Since you live within driving distance of cities why not check to se if you have a Dental School nearby. They do free or close to free work as students that are learning to be dentists. Our friend drove 2 hours each way but all his dental work was done for free. After that the school gave him a complete scholarship to become a cosmetic dental assistant. He now can completely support his family as those positions pay very well. All this for just checking out the dental school. Also he found dentists that only work on seniors which was very cost effective for his father. Just give it some investigating. 💕 Love from Debbie and Dexter-Dog 🐶 my sweet tiny rescued Chihuahua 🐕 companion living a quiet crafty life in southern California. ⛵🙏🏠🐤💞✝️🙋🐾🧑🦽💌😘🤓🐥
I live in Rockwall and can certainly understand the urgency of getting the heating system replaced. Our homes here aren't meant for extremely cold weather! Great job finding ways to cut the budget!
Wow! You are amazing! I pray you are successful in these budget cuts and paying off that heater ASAP. It's amazing how quickly things add up over time. We wanted to add another cell phone number to our plan for $30 a month, but that's 500 a year including taxes and fees. My husband has to do a $1000 in sales to profit $500. That's a lot!
Dawn, you are not alone! We had to replace our HVAC as well and had a car repair and an extended hospital stay. Our debt went from zero to about $25k. We cut many things. I don't really miss the things we cut. This is doable. Good luck!!
I feel like you have literally had to buy every major appliance since I started watching your channel lol So I hope that means nothing else major breaks anything soon 😊
I have over forty years working in clinical side of dentistry. I really think that dental care is so important that even if you have to charge it I would do it. Delayed dental care can cost more than you know. That needed deep cleaning if delayed too long can end up being a seven thousand dollar periodontal surgery. I’ve seen it happen over and over again with so many people. Not to mention it’s also very bad for your overall health. It’s one of the leading causes of heart disease. Right up there with smoking.
^This! Many years ago, I used to be “that person” who delayed dental visits. Learned the hard way, & I make sure my hubby & I go every 6 months, regardless.
Because of my car insurance increase, I need to learn real fast what I need and want. You are right, I thought I was at bare bones before, well now we will see what that means for someone who doesn't have all the frills but the extras like cat food and coffee (bag) will stay. I have dried beans and lentils that I have meaning to try my hand at cooking, so I will be doing that.
You look young for needing to further trim an already bare bones budget! I hope this is just a temporary situation for you because inflation and rising prices are never-ending.
@@sueh6287 it is temporary as far as paying 730.00 for car insurance, they said it did go up but not that much, they are going to look into it for me to see if I get some back. Great job, Dawn. It's amazing how much we can spend without paying attention to the annual amount. You did a fantastic job finding items you can cut out. You're terrific at saving money. You can pay it off this year for sure! Love to all, Linda 💕
Love your video. Two things, why do you have a deep cleaning at the dentist when you have no cavities and no bleeding gums? I had to have this done and it is not pleasant and am surprised you would pay that much for something that I don't think you really need? Also the deep cleaning in your home, I was surprised that you paid someone to do deep cleaning when that can be done by you or someone in your family? I am so inspired by your straight talk and how you get to the info on your videos in a timely manner. Very concise and straight to the point! Love ya!
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom I recommend getting a water pik if you do'nt have one already. Use warm water and clean in between all of your teeth with it before bed every night. You can mix a little hydrogen peroxide or listerine into the water well if you want to (be sure to run plain water through it afterward). This really helped my gums a lot and now they are excellent shape with zero bleeding and no pockets. My dental hygienist was very happy with me! You need to do it every night.
@@michellekulas282 I have never used a Waterpik, and my dentist says my teeth are the best she has ever seen. I floss, use the metal pick, and brush with an electric toothbrush daily. She said my gums were amazing this past time. The Waterpik to me is not as good as scraping the hardened parts that need to come off. Now, the dental office has one that will sandblast it all off.
I'm just doing more saving to replace the 10K that I had to pay in January to replace heating system also. I don't really budget, I just cut back here and there. I spend when I need to and save when I don't. Overall, we have always lived below our means, so in retirement I haven't had to worry if I could pay the bills. God has been very good to me. Good Luck with your plans. Have a Blessed day.
I’m still rebuilding my emergency fund. There’s one credit card I’ll pay off this month and collect the reward points. I’ll go through my budget again as I’m sure there more I could do to reduce monthly expenses. I live in Canada. My gas and electricity at a fixed are paid monthly for ten months. I’ll have saved the money to pay off any excess fees in July 2024.
I live in California and it cost us almost $18,000 to replace our HVAC system. Its an unsual kind of unit because we live in a condo plus there is a requirement that 2 inspections be made after installation. I know its absolutely ridiculous. They gave us one year interest free so I paid down as much as I could during that year. I understand how and why you are cutting costs and I think some of your ideas so great!!!!
I plan to try oil pulling with coconut oil for my teeth.I have no insurance for health care. I have had multiple bad experiences that make me wary of drs, dentists, health care providers.
Shop, shop, shop: I bought a 5-ton a/c heating unit for $5,000. I talked to at minimum a dozen people...got bids up to $20,000. A wonderful near retirement gentleman knew exactly what to do!
I have never had a Starbucks anything even though there are many near me. I have no subscriptions or contracts with services and never saw a need for any of them.
We pay $40 for our yearly P.O. Box. To me it’s peace of mind because our house sits back off the road and we don’t get a lot of mail. We don’t have consumer debt and the vast majority of our monthly bills are paid directly out of our account monthly 😊
Hi Dawn! Not getting your notifications as soon as I use to, so I'm late on this one. I too have a PO Box, am only going to pull my mail once a week instead of twice a week this year...saves time and gas.
Yes, read magazines at the library. We limited Christmas gifts and only spent for immediate family in 2023 and everyone else got cards. Doing the same for birthdays. Being more selective about eating out.
Dawn, Good video. Check with your electric company. Some companies offer a small discount for using appliances at certain hours and eliminating use of same during hi usage hours. Often, there are 2 or 3 options to save a few dollars per month and they add up.
And then the fees for treating you for respiratory and cancer will be astronomical. I think I would rather pay a little more to get a service that does not use harsh chemicals to humans and pets, but you do you.
$800 for a dental cleaning? We don't have dental insurance and it is around $200 for just the cleaning with no x-rays. X-rays might add another $75 or so. We started buying the DIY bug pesticide in the red and white jug at the home improvement store. It's about $10 or $12 and lasts a couple of years. We just spray around the perimeter of the house, around windows, and inside our attached garage. Inside the house we only spray around toilets and under sinks, but we do not spray much inside the house because I do not want the pets/kids getting into it. It works like a charm. We have no bugs (in Texas) and haven't needed an exterminator in years. I have never shopped at Dollar Tree. What is there that you like to purchase every month or 2? Just curious.
Do you still owe on your mortgage?? If it is, then invest it or stash away for emergency, rainy day fund. Then you are always ready for whatever life throws at you. I'm proud you are taking these drastic step to cut unnecessary spending. You don't want to finance this heating system for years.
I hope your plan works. In our budget we have an emergency fund for these situations, but your budget may not have that now after you have had to replace so much.
Our AC quit a few years ago. We tried to get by with a couple of window units but in SE Indiana our Summers are hot and humid. We went ahead and replaced the AC and the furnace as our model was discontinued, the company out of business as well so parts would be a problem. In 2020 our roof was replaced after a tornado sent a tree through our roof. So I feel like we are in pretty good shape for the next few years but you know when you make plans.. like you said sometimes it doesn't go the way you plan. Good luck, you can do this.
Oh my goodness. YES!!! Get rid of all that stuff. All unnecessary. $100./month on magazines???? You can do it Dawn. Protect your hard earned money. That's how you build wealth. xoxo
I had to replace the HVAC last May to the tune of 12k. Ughhh it hurt so bad, but what are you going to do? I managed to make some cuts and saved 5k toward replacing the emergency fund. Hoping nothing really major occurs this year so I can continue building the fund up.
Starbucks? Amazon? Dollar Tree? Bug service? Vacation travel? Monthly electrical and plumbing service? Magazines subscriptions? Glorified candy bars? Never spent a dollar on any of this.
Do you. I’m usually with you, but some things on this list seem like they shouldn’t be put off. You are loosing bone in your mouth. That leads to health complications with your heart, kidneys etc. protein bars also. Your health should not be on the chopping block. It will cost you a ton of money in the end, and if you don’t have your health you don’t have anything
An idea about your phone. You mentioned what your husband's cell phone cost. Have you considered Mint mobile? We just switched over and its been good. An idea about your teeth. When I was a broke college student there was a dental clinic near me. It was much cheaper. In our current area there are ads sometimes for dental hygenists in training to work on folks for free under their teacher's supervision. That might be an option for you if you just need a cleaning. Hope this helps.
Yeah and I was going to add that my dentist doesn’t charge anywhere near $800 for an out of pocket cleaning. May want to shop around if you don’t mind leaving your dentist…
In Edina, Minnesota a friend of mine works for a company that is called "Rent a Friend.".She goes to weddings so her "friend isn't solo".. new senior citizen in town..goes to church with her..Often hired by adult children who live across the US..just an idea for someone..
I don't WANT to see you suffer or do without your lifestyle in any way. I think 9000 is an automobile and thinking you pay for it in 90 days is possible and maybe genius or exceptional frugality or maybe over a year might be ok. It's like you are uncomfortable with spending the best money you can wanting to be in the clear but what about the discipline of paying for a large purchase giving yourself some room. You are not your parents. You enjoy living not trying to live without much of anything like an older generation. I don't know but i think its good you are paying money each month on a major purchase. It shows you can do it again whenever something else goes. It's just the normal way of things.
Well, here I go...expressing my opinion...no offense meant to anyone. Dawn, I am for almost all those cutbacks. But, alarmed that postponing that deep dental cleaning could lead to bigger expenses and periodontal disease could change your life. Lost teeth and gum disease are not worth the savings when considered in the long run. I have some serious dental issues and use a WaterPik along with prescription toothpaste at $35.00 per tube. Just praying you will reconsider this one item. Many thanks for all you do! God Bless!
If by bug service, you mean termite, you are playing with fire. Once they find termites, you have them for life. They will destroy if they don't eat the chemicals in the traps, and that is a major service plan. Roaches, yeah, I guess you can live with those. Now the tiny German roaches will fry and destroy appliances, as they love hot and moist areas to hide. I am lucky ours only went into an old stove and refrigerator.
The heater debacle was predicted easily. It was struggling anyway that's why it died on the coldest day just like air conditioners break down in the middle of August. So it's all predicted. The Starbucks stoppage I would reconsider. It's cheap money for enjoyment. So I would reverse that. Pest control is a nice luxury for the rich. The deep cleaning dentist floss better and longer and stop all your sweets. They ruining your gums. Get a smaller p.o. box or shop around.. Keep the magazines but pare it down.. Christmas buy everything at goodwill. Buy smart bars on sale.

Interestingly, Family Dollar is building connected next door.
You are amazing, and I admire you.
You're the best!
I am a tightwad (xtreme frugal), I only spend on basic necessities nothing else. Any $$ leftover, I stash.
That's great!
I love that you say your a tightwad you go for it it years to come you'll have plenty of money stashed and peace of mind
It's always a good idea to have a bare bones budget to help get us through challenging times. As you said, not forever but to reach a goal. Good luck paying off the heater quickly.
I agree
Dawn i love the sound of your new money saving ideas just think if that were dollers in your hand how much it would be quite a lot for deep clean home i do one room deep clean every few weeks never pay anyone it too much well done dawn you go girl🌈
Thank you love
I followed your computing..added scorched earth frugality..I'll bet that you reach your goal in 8 months!
To prevent this, always have your HVAC system checked twice a year.
Once in march for the air conditioning system, once in Sept for heating.
Yes. I am surprised the monthly service charge she was paying wasn't part of a plan with routine checks.
I already do this
It is part of it
Wow, that is amazing how much you can save. I have a suggestion about the teeth cleaning. Universities that have dental schools will do dental cleaning for a VERY LOW cost. If you are in the Dallas area I am sure you can find one!
Great idea!!
Thank you for this video, it makes me want to sit down with my husband and see where we can trim the fat and use it to pay off debt.
We did the same thing a few years ago, and it's amazing how much we cut without missing anything.
This is a good idea. Date night 😊
Great point!
Loved the premiere , I like reading what others are saying.
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm the same!
Thank you much
Great way of looking at it; how long do you have to work before you can pay for it?
@@3TXSisters exactly 💯 👏
Dawn, you are not alone! We had to replace our HVAC as well and had a car repair and an extended hospital stay. Our debt went from zero to about $25k. We cut many things. I don't really miss the things we cut. This is doable. Good luck!!
Ug. I feel for you
I feel like you have literally had to buy every major appliance since I started watching your channel lol So I hope that means nothing else major breaks anything soon 😊
Pretty much!

I’m so sorry that you are going through this, but (not surprisingly), it sounds like you have made a great plan. 🥰
Thank you so much!
I totally agree
You look young for needing to further trim an already bare bones budget! I hope this is just a temporary situation for you because inflation and rising prices are never-ending.
@@sueh6287 it is temporary as far as paying 730.00 for car insurance, they said it did go up but not that much, they are going to look into it for me to see if I get some back. I make minimum wage and do live very sparsely, I'm use to the " struggle" (i have what I need). I'm 54 but some how look young for my age, I still shock people when I tell people I have a 31 year old daughter. I had her at 23, I also have a 27 year old son. Had him at 27. I have grandfur kids (cat) love them all, not all love me.
Great job, Dawn. It's amazing how much we can spend without paying attention to the annual amount. You did a fantastic job finding items you can cut out. You're terrific at saving money. You can pay it off this year for sure! Love to all, Linda 💕
So true!
Love ya!
I thought I needed it
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom I recommend getting a water pik if you do'nt have one already.
You are so smart
Thoroughly enjoying your videos Money Mom, thank you and I look forward to the next 😊
I'm so glad!
Dawn, you remind me so much of myself!
For sure
I would get your husband a burner phone just for when he needs it.
Definitely, he could have a medical emergency. Not worth taking the risk for a few dollars.
I plan to try oil pulling with coconut oil for my teeth.I have no insurance for health care. I have had multiple bad experiences that make me wary of drs, dentists, health care providers.
Yes! My husband does the coconut oil pull. It definitely helps.
Shop, shop, shop: I bought a 5-ton a/c heating unit for $5,000. I talked to at minimum a dozen people...got bids up to $20,000. A wonderful near retirement gentleman knew exactly what to do!
Nice work!
Wow, I marked "notify me" Love 💕 Debbie and Dexter-Dog.🤓🐰🏠🤔🧑🦽🐾🙏👍😊
I have never had a Starbucks anything even though there are many near me. I have no subscriptions or contracts with services and never saw a need for any of them.
We pay $40 for our yearly P.O. Box. To me it’s peace of mind because our house sits back off the road and we don’t get a lot of mail. We don’t have consumer debt and the vast majority of our monthly bills are paid directly out of our account monthly 😊
Incredible price

One of the many reasons why we love Kentucky 😀
Bug Service 😂- that is 🤣 I just never heard anyone phrase it like that! I know what you meant but gave me a giggle - lol
Dawn, Good video. Check with your electric company. Some companies offer a small discount for using appliances at certain hours and eliminating use of same during hi usage hours. Often, there are 2 or 3 options to save a few dollars per month and they add up.
New millionaires on the block
I buy insect spray from Walmart and have for years. For about $30 a year and less than 20 minutes I can spray all my baseboards and be bug free.
I use to go once a month.
Thank you for the tips
Do you still owe on your mortgage?? If it is, then invest it or stash away for emergency, rainy day fund. Then you are always ready for whatever life throws at you. I'm proud you are taking these drastic step to cut unnecessary spending. You don't want to finance this heating system for years.
No paid off the house
I hope your plan works. In our budget we have an emergency fund for these situations, but your budget may not have that now after you have had to replace so much.
Hello from southern Arizona
Hi
What an interesting list. Gives me a few ideas. Thanks Dawn❤
You are so welcome!
Thank you much
Yay!!!
$800 for teeth cleaning??😮. You live in Texas-it would be cheaper to plan a week vacation to Mexico and get your teeth cleaned in the process.
You may be able to a dental school for a cleaning
Great idea
Putting your savings in a higher interest savings account..at least 4.6%..not a certificate of deposit On $1000 Christmas fund =$46
Oh my goodness. YES!!! Get rid of all that stuff. All unnecessary. $100./month on magazines????
You can do it Dawn. Protect your hard earned money. That's how you build wealth. xoxo
It was 100 a year

I had to replace the HVAC last May to the tune of 12k. Ughhh it hurt so bad, but what are you going to do? I managed to make some cuts and saved 5k toward replacing the emergency fund. Hoping nothing really major occurs this year so I can continue building the fund up.
I hope so too
Starbucks? Amazon? Dollar Tree? Bug service? Vacation travel? Monthly electrical and plumbing service? Magazines subscriptions? Glorified candy bars? Never spent a dollar on any of this.
Good morning it's the will of God that will be done in our lives not our
I get a good deal on my phone
Not so much a budget cut but a redoing the budget. I got into a car accident. At fault. So I will have to pay more for insurance the rest of the year.
I know how that feels
How can a deep clean at the dentist cost $800 ? Especially if you have no cavities. That's insane robbery.
God Bless!
Looking for video you made about favorite books and authors. Please refer me to the videos on favorite books
Hi dawn
Hi
Am taken aback it costs 800 just to get your teeth cleaned.
It is for a deep cleaning
Mint Mobile (I hear).is $15 mo.
