SSB would be nice, but a very interesting radio. Here in the western New York state region, 10 meter FM is almist exclusively on 29.600 MHz. We do have occasional AM activity around 29.050 MHz. I do not understand the cautions you mentioned during editing the hex file. Your a fast talker, and since that is an important strp, and it does not show what your doing on the screen either, maybe you could elaborate. That said, Awesome. I have a number of "import" 10M radios, an HT to compliment them would be nice.
Simply, don’t use the delete button to remove the numbers from the hex file, just select the digit and press the required digit on your keypad to over write it. Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching.

Nice, but quite pricey for an AM/FM only handheld. Sadly, I don't think there's been any SSB handies about since the Magnum/Dragon and their stablemates ceased production. Should come soon - plenty of chinese SSB CBs about now.
A lot? Could you give an example? Company, model?
How about the antenna on the car? What's that?
Well, I finally got my programming cable in. Hex edited the file but unfortunately the radio won’t transmit on 29.600. It will rx on 29.600 but it transmits on 29.232mhz. Guessing the vco won’t go that high
wich is the ACTUAL (meaning real TX & RX) min. and max frequencies that may achive this radio e.x. min 22mhz and max 35mhz ??
So im assuming this can be "hacked" to cover UK CB channels?
how to get the software?
Should have been a little more careful guys - 29.400 is slap bang in the middle of the Ham Satellite Links frequency portion of 29.300 - 29.510. (Yep - I do know it’s only a Band Plan and not a legal requirement, but the Plan is there to help prevent anarchy!).
Good point! Although, are there any active satellites using that band?
Satellite band plan on HF - what a total waste of spectrum!!!
@@TechMindsOfficial Hi Matt. YEP - most certainly there are. AMSAT-OSCAR 7 (AO-7) Satellite is the most famous on 29MHz Band, known for its pirated use by the Polish Solidarity Movement, centred on the Gdańsk Shipyard and led by Lech Wałęsa, who subsequently became the first modern democratically-elected President of Poland after the Berlin Wall came down in 1989.
The Poland Solidarity Movement was instrumental in the resultant fledgling freedoms available in the USSR after 1989.
Many UK CBers (myself included) were making almost daily 27MHz simplex contacts into Poland and with Solidarity members on both the then new 27/81 FM frequencies and (naughtily) the FCC 27.965-27.405 allocation - also on FM. They were taking a BIG risk, as you would imagine. This has prompted me to dig out all my old QSL exchange cards with them!

What band to use for the USA?
Do you believe that after modified properly the qyt can be Rx and tx on 22-25 mhz ?
I'd like this if it is possible to set it on 52 MHz.
No
Does this Radio have an option to switch to DE standard with 80 channels in its original menu? Great test.
Very late, but yes it has the 80 DE channels.
I heard the rx on these was pretty bad. I looked at one to add to my arsenal. I have ham and gmrs license. I ended up getting the Uniden handheld cb.
I will do the mod. Where's the best source for the radio in the uk?
I just listed on one eBay.
I like the radio but I can't quite get up to 29.6, the VCO quits around 29.55 does anyone know how the VCO is adjusted?
Tempted.. maybe when solar cycle 25 is in its peak.
Very good video.
I am in the us.
Hay could please tell me more also about that mag mount antenna you had there i think i like that .
I have a cobra am 40 ch.
Ht its an ok rig .
I have also just picked up a pres.randy that has proven to be a very nice and very capable little radio with only one issue i need to get the uk radio due to thee mods. The us version has been fixed to delete the 10 meter band.
And the uk version just snip them 2 wires inside and bam off to the races.
Anyway you take care 73s an happy dxin.

Youre welcome!
Also Used in America to!
Interesting project. The price seems a little high to me.
Which windows version will work for? Windows 11 does definitelly not work for - I turned on the radio, the device manager showed me com port 4 - I set com-port 4 in the qb-100 software - but: unavailable to open the communication port - even it was found the prolific driver and set to com 4 also found it in the qb-100 software. Is it really Windows 11?
Does Windows 10 work?
No body is using the 10 meter ham band here in The Netherlands, and its illegal to :-(
I'm sure I saw some PA station's on FT8 a couple of days ago on 10M
To use the 10m Band?
@@merlinonline67 they where lieing to you

Will operate split for 10 m FM repeater?
This is my question as well. Can it be set up for split operation to use on 10m repeaters?
Bump
No it won’t
Useless for repeaters on 10 meters. Transmits up to 29.500. If schematics become available, VCO voltages and adjustment may extend the TX range.
I can also access the 27 MHz band
Estuvieran perfectos con banda laterales
Will it work on SSB of 10 meters (28.3-28.5)? Thanks.
Nah, there is no SSB modulation.
its the normal band for us australians and americans
If only it could be hacked to 33mhz
AM over CB? Must not be for my region. All the CB over here is SSB.
CB in the US was AM and SSB only until lately..now FM is allowed. CB in the UK was FM only for decades but after years of illegal AM ops, they finally made AM and SSB allowed there. Your country may vary.
SSB only, sounds like Germany and their bandwidth rules.
cool device !
Batteries sag when you transmit.
It really does each the batteries, I wish I got the version with the rechargeable battery pack!
@@TechMindsOfficial I got the one with the AA battery pack and even with new batteries the radio says theyre dead. Never enough voltage to actually tx more than 5 mins.
Can it do p25 phase 1 and 2 if so I need a raido that can do that very bad!
No
Sweet!!!!
any chance to run dialup internet through that thing?
Most mistakes by this company is NO SSB inside lol
Good idea for a CB handheld but the transmit audio is extremely awful...SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!
29mhz 97mhz
you can get 27\81muppet chanels on these radio dead easy
Nosy rozzers!
Harganya sikitar brapa?
See link in description for price :)
no test pauer
Yeah but one true question: 10 Meters in frequency-modulation? That is not very useful, right?
There is plenty of activity on 10 FM, especially when conditions are good. From here in the UK I have worked 10 FM repeaters into Europe and the States.
@@TechMindsOfficial Thank you for this interesting information - do you know where I can find this prolific-driver?
I received this radio and the right USB-cable was already inside, which suprised me a lot. - Now I have to find out about the proper software.
Thank you!
I found the software already - is it possible, that it will not work proper in Windows 11? I had to start it in admin-mode and also in compatible-mode for windows xp-service-pack-3 - then it started.
But still, I cant connect to the radio by usb - it says the following inside the com-area at the device-manager:
PL2303TA do not support windows 11 or later, please contact your supplier (I think that means nothing), or is that really the issue - and yes, I operate windows 11 on my pc. Does anybody know more about?
Can it be hacked to work on 28mhz?
Yes, I think coverage is from 25 to 30Mhz
@@TechMindsOfficial that's awesome. Just to be clear, that radio comes with a rechargeable battery also? why did you choose the AA battery pack?
Mine won’t tx above 29.230. Worthless for 10fm
Waste of time on AA batteries
Kks ghere kognon anazkm sherd j can buy them in usa j wanted mzke it dork 29.000- 29.300-29.600 and 29.6200 - 29.690+. When ghey hoibv czck kn abszon!

They are listed as available in the States from several on-line stores, plus Amazon. Prices ran between $139 and $170 when I looked.

If only it had ssb tyt would have made big money the manufacturers boss must be an asshole imagine DX with a lift on 🤔😢📻
I do not understand the cautions you mentioned during editing the hex file.

That makes no sense. lol

I bought 2 of these radios. And both of them where compleate garbage out of the box. Both of them have distorted transmitt so I ended up buying a cobra hh50 walkietalkie. The cobra is a much better radio. I made a video on these qyt radios and how bad they are out of the box. One of the radios I can not get it into am mode. These radios are compleat junk do not buy.
I think I saw your video on AM mode issue, but did you try changing band as AM only works on the EU band setting. I think my video proves they are not junk and you was just unlucky.
@@TechMindsOfficial i was told by someone in the industry that this company dose not test any of the things they build they just make the products and send them out. Cause they know that once they ship them out of China it will cost more to return ship them then what you paid. And even if they do reimburse you you are still out untill they verify the defective product and you risk losing the money cause there not going to declare a recall on there junk. So yeah now I have 2 clunky radios that are total junk. And only one of them switches between am and fm mode. No matter witch band I put them in. So I just ended up buying 2 cobra wxst hh50 radios. Witch have much better transmitt audio.
