It hurts me a lot to see a young successful person fighting an addiction. I am also an addict myself, but on a completely different level, namely food. because I didn't want to be fat anymore after years of shame and frequent diets and many disappointments, I radically changed my eating habits and will never eat sugars and carbohydrates again. I still sometimes eat too much cheese, but I have still lost 25 kg. Addiction remains a battle, but you have to fight it. Hopefully you will succeed, I wish you the best of luck and maintain the image of who you want to be. You are such a beautiful person and so successful please don't throw it away.

Sadly you will now see who are your true friends. Many were your friends because they were your bad decisions and are in your life for what they can get out of you. Been there sadly. You not only face addiction. You face many emotional issues and learn a lot about yourself and others around you. This process will last year's so when you feel like you have succeeded. Beware you don't think those issues have been resolved. They have a way of rearing there head again. Get well, be aware and stay safe. Very brave of you. Love your videos. Love them more now. Ps. Try to stay away from people, places and things that remind you of drinking because this can trigger you and cause intense cravings. Outing yourself so publicly took courage, and tells me you are serious about getting help and want to be held accountable. I've read some great advice below; the most important of which is to go to as many meetings as you need, get a sponsor, and surround yourself with supportive people. Dog Daddy, as an RN that worked chemical dependency, I would like to advise you based on my experience. You have shown so much courage and wisdom to admit you have an alcohol problem. Admitting you have a problem is half the battle of overcoming an addiction. I am thankful you are alive to have received a wake up call and you recognize it for what it is.
    Here is my advice:
    1. Get into a good treatment facility asap. You cannot do it alone. Please admit that to yourself. You can detox safely and then start therapy and get into AA with the support from the treatment doctors and staff, some of which are in recovery themselves. Your alcoholism is severe and going off of alcohol cold turkey would be dangerous and could be life threatening.
    2. You must sever your relationships with your drinking friends and start a new life. Now. You will develop healthy lifelong friends in AA and you will get an accountability sponsor to support you. You must do this now so you won’t be tempted to drink. If you drink again there is a chance something could go down that you wouldn’t survive.
    3. Make arrangements for your dogs , find a treatment facility, and go now. Be honest with yourself and admit you need help. We need you to be healthy to continue the work you are doing.
God bless you Dog Daddy. I am praying a full recovery for you. Please keep us updated.

As a drug and alcohol counselor, I have to applaud you on your courage. Your description of tolerance and how it leads to problems either alcohol is spot on. It’s hard as a young person to be social without alcohol, it’s a part of so many activities and so normalized.
You are absolutely right there are many things that work for people. I would encourage you to explore AA especially a young persons group. Get a sponsor that has many years of sobriety from all substances.
If you don’t feel like AA is for you, and regardless of whether it does, counseling is always a great option to help support sobriety.
Utilize all the tools available, that’s what they are there for. Just as you use the tools like leads, etc with the dogs, AA counseling, medication, finding a sober community or at minimum a sober buddy are all tools that have a place in finding your path in sobriety.
Again I applaud your courage. You have so much support and ability to not only create an impact in your own life, yet to impact others also struggling.
I wish you continued success on your sobriety journey.

Look for help to get rid of your alcohol addiction.. With help it is a lot easier than allone. The AA or a psychologist., or both. Search for the reason you started drinking so much. It can come from something happened to you in your younger years, or maybe later. Or just because you could. I feel there is something causing it. I wish you Luck Dog Daddy to get rid of your alcohol addiction. If you know the why, than you can turn it for the good. I wish you get rid of your alcohol addiction quickly. Good luck and succes.

In the past I spent several years as a Registered Nurse on Crisis Units for Mental Health and Addiction. I agree with the recommendions of the counselor. Be sure to establish yourself in a new group of friends who do not let you fall back into past addiction with alcohol. If you're given an opportunity for appearances to list things you need or don't want in your environment write out first no alcoholic beverages to be available. Do this until you several years into your recovery. Start verbalizing "I am an alcholic. I am x days sober". This way the people around you know not to have alcohol in your presence but to have healthy choices.
Alcoholics also need to detox their body so their organs and systems like your liver can be returned to as healthy of a status as possible. I would suggest you seek the assistance of a primary care doctor in your main home area to do a physical, testing, and give you advice on vitamins or medications you will need to help you during withdrawal in order to avoid possible complications that may happen from sudden withdrawal. This is why people, stars, politicians, or anyone in general enter into alcohol treatment facilities for short stays to be monitored and get help mapping out a treatment plan that meets your life. I know you have your treasured dogs and you don't feel you can leave them but in your heart you have to take care of yourself right now in order to take care of them in the future. Akso to be able to grow your brand and continue to save dogs by training their owners. I would think you have at least 3 or 4 friends that can take care of your dogs (family) while you check in for treatment. You need to bring this down to putting yourself first. Then building from there. Don't think you can put this off for weeks while you plan it out. You need to do this in 2 to 3 days get some people to take care of your personal life and check in on at least day 3 or 4. Much love and prayers I will ne sending your way. You can do this. You have already taken the biggest step by saying outloud you have a problem with alcohol. I believe you have the inner strength to make this another mission in your day by day life to be a positive example of strength obstain from alcohol for the rest of your life.

I recently had the same epiphany. At 72 I'm in reasonably good health, but recently I had a scare from my doctor. He informed me I likely had a life threatening impending emergency. That was scary for someone with no medical issues. In the end, it was a false alarm, yet it was also a wakeup call to me. I lost my partner of 35 years a couple years ago and everyone told me I needed to get a dog. Being a dog owner/breeder/trainer for the majority of my life, I had also lost my last dog just before my partner and was now alone. So I did and now have 2 GSDs who are wonderful. This incident, which was merely a scare, made me realize that my dogs, who are relatively young at 4 yrs will need me for another 10 years at the least. The thought of leaving them to an unknown fate, even if included in my will, was enough for me to take my health far more seriously. I owe it to my dogs that give me their all. So at my age, I have reinvented myself, losing 26 unhealthy pounds, become more active to the point that I also now have goals again. Not only do I feel a whole lot better, I feel that now I have a much better chance of outliving my dogs, which gives me great peace of mind.

People didn't know how I made it home the night I was laid off. You're so right! I would come home no matter what. I would never stay over anywhere, no one night stands, nada because I had to walk my babies! Never sober, but I made it home every night. Stay home alone with them on weekends. Sunday-Thursday drink. Amateur nites stay home. I had to clean up my act, clean house, be a good pet mom to them weekends. #ALLWeekWarrior
My husband was the one I sobered for. I didn't want him to get used to rescuing ME from the bar like his brother. When I saw how resigned he was to babysit me and settle, I upped my game to do better for us.
We are from SFO/San Bruno where we are renowned for still staying true to our Wild West roots and settle our disagreements with fists. We don't talk about Bruno... I remember going to my first rehab. I told some of the old timers, "I'm just a social drinker. I'm just really social". Alcoholism is cunning, baffling, and powerful. When it gets it's clutches on a person, it can completely convince them they don't have a problem. Addiction is the only disease that tells the person they don't have it. My best to you!

    • @shannon_w.
      @shannon_w. หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Hahahaha, I did the EXACT same thing! I was going to meetings with my husband because he was newly on Drug Court and I was going to meetings to support him and learn about addiction, his addiction, I didn't have one! Well, if a meeting was at night like 8:30 or 9 I would either rush him out of the meetings or I would run to the liquor store and pick him up at the end of the meeting. BUT, again I did NOT have a problem because I still worked and took care of our kids (at least in my mind I was) so there was no way I had a problem. Until one day we were at a meeting and this guy who couldn't be more different from me told a story, MY story!!!! I was there hungover per usual and listened to the whole story and realized that I did something different that day that I hadn't done before, this time I somehow didn't do what I would always do and that was I didn't listen until the speaker said something that hit to close to home and I instead of hearing that and then trying to find the little things that were soooo different (but not really different) from me I realized I was no different from him or anyone else in that room! That day and for the next 30 days I didn't drink or anything else but I also didn't tell anyone I had quit drinking until they called out sober times with the chips and when they called 30 days I shot up like a jack rabbit and jaws were on the floor! No one could believe it and were very confused. After the chips were called I raised my hand and for the first time I said "Hey everyone my name is Shannon and I am an alcoholic!" That was 13 years and 3 days ago and I haven't looked back!
Jeez I am so sorry for going on and on but for some reason I felt the need to say all of this. Have a great night 😊

Hey! I’m almost 5 years sober from alcohol. I was a binge drinker. Blacked out every time I drank. When I first sobered up, I attended AA meetings and implemented avoidance plan (no bars, no clubs, no social drinking events). Working the steps in a literal sense wasn’t for me, so I started new hobbies and activities. I’m a creative individual and used this as an outlet to invest in long term projects that kept me occupied.

Well, can You show him how to recover "Out of Control" dogs in another way like animal friendly. The Most important aspect should be "save the dogs life" - No euthanasia!!! Remember this usually must happen in a very short period of time, since the problem of the dog is normally allready open to Public, so that life time is running short. At least he is acting somehow and not unsuccessful or helpful instead of just arguing about methods until it's to late. That is my personell opinion without experience nor personelly knowing The Dog Daddy.

She was smart, clever, travelled the world, but she was bi-polar and in her downtimes used alcohol to get her through it. She did all the therapies, but thought she was in control. She often said to me, if it comes to me being in hospital, and they say you must give up, or you will die, I will. Sadly, when that time came, it was too late. So grateful you are sharing this. My father was a functional alcoholic and as it progressed he became violent within our family. Please realize that willpower is not enough. Consider it like a diabetic with high or low blood sugar. You need someone who can get you through it to safety. Sponsors show up and get you through that moment when the desire to drink is overwhelming. You are an encouragement and role model to soo many people. Your higher emotional empathy can exhaust you and drinking is a go to for this. Putting yourself first is not selfish, only that way can you be there for others. I will be praying for you as you go through this journey. God bless you!

As a recovering addict myself (just over 1 year clean), I would say to be patient with yourself and remember that feelings are temporary. When you’re having a bad moment and cravings come in, remind yourself that what you’re feeling is temporary and try to distract your mind with things that bring you joy. Addiction doesn’t happen overnight and neither does recovery. It’s not easy but I promise you it’s worth it. I wish you all the best! Thank you for sharing your story.

Thank you so much for your honesty, again!
You should look for help with this special problem. You can not see what lays behind it, what makes you sensible for overdrinking.
With an expert, a specialist who knows why and asks the right questions, why you are doing this, you will understand yourself better and you will see the road again so you can make new solutions.
A specialist in alcohol use can ask you the right question's why you go too far with this and can not stop on your own at that certain point.
There is a good reason, under it, why you can't at that certain point.
It is likewise your dogs, there is a reason why they behave like they do. To find that answer and you are free again. Now you are not with that item.
To find and talk this over with a specialist in overdrinking which emotion wants to be seen.
And then you can choose for a good solution together. So your joy will be bigger and your knowledge about yourself is growing higher, which you need to feel more complete again, than ever before!
And you see your road before you clear again how to solve this.
You need an expert who can see quit quick what is going on, because of his experience!
Please DD, you have such a Great God Given Talent, use it Wisely.
You are and have gotten a God given beautiful sole, pure, honnest, sensitive.... like a diamond, it needs some light on it.
Please look for a solution with wise experts, like yourself (as dog - people traininer !!! ) in alcohol use and overuse.
I know for sure you will become stronger out of it 💪❤ !
Let us know how you are going, please...
We your followers with a warm and honnest heart for you and your dogs need you to make this communication between human and dogs a BETTER WORLD, to be in.
Due to the insights of you , by God given special to YOU.
We need you and we love ❤️
This is spoken allso by all the animals and special ALL the Dogs in this World !

Man you got this! 9 years sober here. My father ended his life a few years ago due to alcoholism. Never drank while we were kids. Didn’t hit him until his 60’s.
It’s so awesome that you’re realizing this now, at this age. Just remember you’re not alone! There’s SO many people out here that are SO much more willing to help than you would ever realize! There were times when people drove hours to help me when I needed it. Recently I’ve done the same for others. That’s when sobriety really pays off! When you get to help other :)
Keep it up! You’re ten steps ahead of everyone else already just by being honest!

I am speaking as a recovering addict. I am so proud of you that you realize your issue with alcohol. There will always be temptation and some days you will be feeling like you want or need a drink. The alcohol will never ever make you feel better than you will feel if you don’t drink it. Having good people who care for you enough to not drink around you is so important in the beginning of this whole process. If they can’t respect and care for you enough to not drink around you then you need to avoid being with them for awhile. You are so gifted and such an amazing human being! You have so much goodness to offer the dogs and their humans. For some people alcohol should be avoided at all cost. I am so grateful you realized this before something truly tragic happened!! You are at the beginning of a path that will be the best path of your life. Reach out if you need more encouragement. I know you can do this!! 🙏🏼

The first step is knowing you have a problem and admitting you need the help. Second step is getting rid of all alcohol in and around your place. Third change the people you hung out with that drank, places you went to drink and things you associate with drinking. Always have someone you can talk to that is sober to help you through hard times and even the good times...support is important. Keep busy like you do with your training sessions so you don't get bored or sidetracked. Last but not least...take it one day at a time. Life isn't easy and giving up something is even harder but you can do it. Just have faith in yourself and anything is possible! We all love and support you Dog Daddy. Keep moving forward...you got this!

I agree, but sometimes no matter what other people think or perceive as 'having it all' to live for & that's all a wonderful & lucky life, but when one also has issues that nobody knows about & then people forget that some of the most brilliant people still have that little voice that is always there arguing with our sensible inner voice to not self sabotage.
Poor guy has so much talent, but the highs & lows can make one feel strange when there's nobody else around & certain things just make having a drink seem a good choice.

Sober for one year 27 days here, after 17 years of drinking.
    - It’s not easy. You will get tempted. You will get urges.
    - Everything you said in the beginning is true. You start slowly and at one point you realize how much it takes over you and from you.
    - With this video you already are on your way. Letting your friends know that YOU have decided to stop drinking is a big step. Your true friends will understand. Some will doubt you, but don’t get discouraged. This will give you even more encouragement to reach your goal.
    - (This is what I think is the most important tip I can give you.) Take it One Day At A Time. Sounds cliche but believe me, having the mentality of “I’m quitting forever” doesn’t really help.
    - Give yourself small goals. For example, I gave myself the goal of not drinking for one weekend. Then one week. After that first week, I said “ok now one week 2 days.” Then 2 weeks. When I got to that month, I said “ok now let’s try one more week.”
When you give yourself small goals they are easier to reach and when you reach them, you feel so good. You end up looking forward to reaching the next small goal. This will encourage you even more.
    - Give yourself a treat. After reaching those small goals, go out, have some fun. I’m NOT talking about partying. Go to the beach to the park, distract your mind.
I still get urges, I work around beer all day. The smell is the hardest to over come. But over time 💪🏽 your mind will punch through it. If I can do it, anybody else can. That beat down was your wake up call. ANSWER IT 💪🏽

Good on you for admitting you have a problem! I can tell you when my brother was 36, he had a liver AND kidney transplant due to alcoholism. This was 7 years ago. Post transplant, he was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and had a year of chemo before remission. 3 years before his transplant, he was on dialysis and had so many medical procedures and surgeries that I lost count.
Me, I was addicted to opiates for 5 years before my body said that enough is enough, and in 2009, I got sober and have been sober ever since.

Many people DO become clean and sober alone. To tell a person they CANNOT do this alone is not only untrue, but, it is very discouraging to many people, especially those who don't have or want "help." Many people are able to stop addictions/ substance abuse on their own. You should know this. It is true that support helps many, but, everyone is different and support does not help all.

You are so strong for sharing your story! I, myself, have dealt with addiction and overcame it. It is a lifelong battle, but you will get through it. First thing you need is a sponsor... someone you can talk to when you get those urges! We all have faith in you!

This video is a major step towards recovery. You’ve recognized, admitted, and are sharing with others that this problem exists. Probably several steps! Very brave, keep strong!

You are not alone. The best part of your story is the fact
that you have finally decided that alcoholism is not the way for you. You are lucky that you’ve figured this out sooner than later and are prepared to finally deal with it. Surround yourself with positive people and maybe think about getting into a program to help support yourself. 💕You are loved by many!

My sister is a severe alcoholic and has been for many years. It has caused our family so much pain watching her addiction consume her and her health. She has yet to acknowledge her disease and refuses to get help. You are so brave to take accountability and acknowledge you have a problem. That is the first step to recovery. Best of luck on your journey!

So proud of you! My favorite quote on sobriety goes " Sobriety is more than just being sober, it's giving yourself the opportunity to create a life you don't want to escape." This quote has really helped me throughout my journey so I thought I might share it with you and maybe it can help you as well. Best of luck! One day at a time! 🤗💖

alcohol addiction runs in my family, i am lucky I totally avoid alcohol. my advice is to take up a hobby. start something that you always wanted to do but have not done. keep yourself occupied. it might be best to avoid your friends, meaning dont go out with them. start a sober game night with your friends, just an example. attend AA meetings. if you still cant stop I would do inpatient or outpatient rehab. withdrawal from drugs will NOT kill you. but alcohol withdrawal can kill you. if you feel withdrawal symptoms seek medical attention as soon as possible, you can do this!!!!!! we are all here to support you!!!!

The fact that you didn't drink when you had the urge is HUGE! Keep celebrating those moments. Unless you've been an addict or alcoholic (I'm both), they do not understand. I commend you so very much for speaking your truth. I know how hard it is to admit you have a problem, let alone share it publicly! I have been very open about my recovery of almost nine years because I'm proud of who I am now! It's not something to hide; the people that do that are the ones who don't recover. I wish you all of the best and hope for a "smooth" recovery. ❤

@aliciarichardson5887 that is an absolutely fantastic message and you are so spot on 👍🏻 people who have not experienced it will never ever understand the struggle and hard work it takes to overcome. Wishing yourself and of course dog daddy all the very best for the future and I hope that dog daddy knows that it's definitely possible and he has endless amounts of love and support.

This is a very courageous video to make. Been clean for 22 years sometimes you have to decide if your friends are die hard friends or fair weather friends. I lost A LOT of so called friends when I stopped. Addiction is a disease. A diabetic knows candy will kill them, someone with heart disease know they shouldn't eat a bacon cheeseburger an alcoholic knows that beverage is slowly killing them and destroying everything they have worked for. It is not easy but you can do it. Just like how you train dogs. Distract, redirect, keep them in a safe environment, praise, encourage and lead.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Prayers you find your value again and you see you can beat this.
