One thing I kept wondering about the priming cycle....why cant I just prime my paint back into the hopper? Why do I need to prime into a dump bucket lol?
@@tonytorres760 I seriously don’t think the bucket step is needed. Even with paint, the machine primes in a split second. I only used the bucket once and it was during the filming of this video.
The bucket can be use for the clean up , but I was thinking the same when priming with the paint I just bought this thing two days ago, looks like it’s simple to use

I thought you were supposed to prime w water first. At least, that's what I've seen so many others do. And they did it from brand new as well. Obviously you would prime w water between uses first just to ensure it's completely clean, as well as after use. I was just wondering why you did it differently than what I've seen. Great video. Very thorough.
Hi Chandra, to answer your question, I just followed the manufacturer’s instructions which say “the sprayer is liquid cooled, do not operate without water or paint in tank.” Using water in the tank first is only a good practice recommendation when it’s new to check that the unit is working properly and/or to familiarize yourself with how the sprayer works. (Page 8 of the manual.) I think the others did it because they watched other people do it in their videos? I also watched a few videos first but ultimately followed Wagner’s instructions. In my opinion the water first method is unnecessary (did you see how fast the paint primed?) as well as the step where to put the tube off to the side and dump into a bucket. I plan to do a follow up video showing what I know now vs then. I also have ideas for easier cleanup because I like to keep mine looking new. Hope this makes sense, thanks for watching and commenting.❤️
Yeah that’s why use garbage can to clean mine out and I get 2 full 5 gallon buckets of water 🥰 Second time around a filling the sprayerwith clean water also cleans the hose😍

Thank you very much for your video you made (posted). I watched many times last night. I painted exterior of my house today. it looked so great! Wishing you great health always.
Thank you for a very informative video. I am looking at this sprayer to paint my house foundation. I’ve never used a paint sprayer and was very apprehensive even thinking about it. Like the other commentators said you did such a good job explaining everything I don’t have to read the manual now! LOL Thank you and you have a new subscriber ❤
Nice job, I really loved using my sprayer. Just one question: Why did you put the clear plastic tube in a spill bucket to prime it? If you don't prime with water you don't need to waste good paint in the spill bucket.
That’s a great question. I followed the directions in the manual and later wondered why that’s a step. I’m planning to do a follow up video now that I’ve used it several times and give my own opinion/tips/tricks.
Great video! One question: I'm spraying multiple coats on doors and trim, and I'd like to know how long I can leave the paint in the system before doing the second coat? If I have to clean the system between each coat, it's likely a show-stopper.
I understand the predicament, cleaning is perhaps the worst part about using any sprayer. I don’t know the answer to this question but if it’s going to be longer than 20-30 minutes, I’d recommend draining the paint. If you’re working with a lot of materials and outside, chances are the first items painted will be somewhat dry by the time you finish the last ones. The paint comes out in a pretty fine mist, not like rolling or brushing. Hope that helps? You can try contacting Wagner for help if needed.
Many thanks for taking time to share. Great video. If / when the rain ever stops I am spray painting a large log home. Hope all goes well. Would I use mineral spirits for priming and clean up?
Happy to help! I actually used the water based paint to prime (it takes a split second) and water for cleanup. The sprayers aren’t meant for oil based from what I remember, I don’t have the manual in front of me. Hope that helps? If not, you might want to reach out to Wagner directly. I’d hate to give bad advice.
Seems to me you could leave the priming tube in the spray tank versus putting it into a waste container. Does it make that much of a difference? Same with priming the spray gun.
It doesn’t make a difference, in my opinion. I followed the instruction manual but plan to do a follow up video with a similar model and I’ll be leaving that part out.

No, mine didn’t come with a filter inside the gun, just that white strainer at the bottom of the tank. My other model comes with liners, is that what you mean?

The instructions on this from the manufacturer are terrible. Thank you so much for walking me through how to set it up. The trick for me was how to install the spray head,
The manual just said not more than 16” away. I probably had it about 6” away from the wall. As far as pressure, there isn’t a gauge to control that, it’s all or nothing. Lol
How much overspray did you have? Can you adjust to reduce overspray? I tried a sprayer years ago and just seemed to make more of a mess with the overspray than it was wirth. I end up finishing just rolling the room. Great video though
The overspray was not horrible, I don’t believe there’s a way to adjust it but I painted my basement with just a tarp on the floor and up by the ceiling, I held a piece of cardboard. This was way faster than rolling.
Oh yeah. I don’t doubt the speed at which you can do the job. Just the overspray on the machine I used years ago was not worth it. It was a Graco brand. May have just been too much for the size of my job. Small rooms. Thank you for your reply.
The other side of your basement looks like a dungeon, for a split second I was thinking that was were your only fans "Special" content was filmed hehehehehe
I have used this many times and it works well but it seemed to clog up quite often and sucked through paint like no other. Does anyone have any experience watering the paint down and did it help avoid the clogs and make the paint go a little further? When it's working it works great, there just seems to be a lot of stopping and fixing in my experience.
Hi Alexa, you might need to put your paint through a strainer first. My paint did not clog but it was brand new and mixed just prior to filming. Some people do add water but I haven't.
I agree. I followed the directions exactly in this first video, then thought “why the heck was that bucket necessary?” I think Wagner just wants to cover their bases and make sure customers are comfortable with running the product.
Very nice and informative as usual Jennifer. However I think I would hire a paint sprayer cleaning person and sip a nice beverage while they clean it up and I sit and admire the painted wall :-)
I probably will when I’m not filming and speaking. Plus this was my first run, I wanted to be able to hear the changes in the motor. 👍 I’m more confident about using it now.
I agree! This video was the first time I used this sprayer and I followed the directions exactly. This was their recommendation and I’m sure they have a reason, but I think it’s a step that can be skipped.
Nope, not according to the manual which lists water as a “recommendation” only to familiarize yourself with the unit and make sure it’s working. After using this a couple times I actually think the first step of spraying into a bucket first is pointless and wastes paint. The primer function works lightening fast.
Agreed. I ended up doing that when it wouldn’t seat properly but prior to that I was following the directions in order of their manual. I guess whichever way is easier for folks. Thank you for watching!🙌
I had trouble with my key shifting during shipping too, I addressed how to fix it, I don’t recall where it is in the video, you might have to fast forward.
I purchased this sprayer. First and only try; it kept clogging after about 5 seconds of spraying but the deal breaker was the plastic hose that is coiled like a steel spring and remained that way. When trying to extend the hose it pulls the sprayer along with it. I might have been able to live with a rubber hose but it was sent back. Piece of garbage.
That’s a bummer, I’ve used mine several times and the hose did calm down. In fact, the last time I used this I was able to place the tank far away to prevent overspray from getting all over everything. Was your paint new? Did you see the segment about clearing clogs?
One thing I kept wondering about the priming cycle....why cant I just prime my paint back into the hopper? Why do I need to prime into a dump bucket lol?
That’s what I do too, the first time I followed the directions exactly and later thought “that’s completely unnecessary.”
It’s easier to say to look at another video to explain the proper way to prime it. Then you’ll understand why you need the bucket. Good luck.

Hi, great video. Can I still get a discount from Amazon?
Hi Lennie! I don’t have a discount but it’s available on Amazon for around $214.00. Here’s the link www.amazon.com/vdp/0c31b2499f824fd485fc0a34ab2da932?ref_=aipsfvideo_aipsfmissdewaltjennifercline&linkCode=ssc&tag=jennifercline-20
The instructions on this from the manufacturer are terrible. Thank you so much for walking me through how to set it up. The trick for me was how to install the spray head,
Thank You!
How far away should I be painting and is there a way to control the pressure, so I'm not painting a quarter of a can in one stroke?
The manual just said not more than 16” away. I probably had it about 6” away from the wall. As far as pressure, there isn’t a gauge to control that, it’s all or nothing. Lol
@@Jennyfromtheshop thank you
How much overspray did you have?
Great review, thanks
Welcome! Thanks for the feedback.💛
The other side of your basement looks like a dungeon, for a split second I was thinking that was were your only fans "Special" content was filmed hehehehehe
Lol, never in a million years.
Thank you for sharing!
Great video!! Thank you!
You’re welcome! I appreciate the kind feedback.
Is there a way to adjust how strong the pressure is?
Not on the machine but I believe you could let up on the trigger. Going from memory it’s variable speed.
How do you dispose of paint water...the "gray" water?
I dump it in my gravel driveway.😬 I don’t know what the correct answer is, but it’ll wreck my septic so I can’t rinse it down the drain.
@@Jennyfromtheshop Thanks , Jenny.
How is the overspray with this?
Very minimal. I was able to use a drop cloth and cardboard to stay within my painting area.
Do you need to prime into a spare bucket if you're priming with paint and not water? Just run it back into the tank. 🤷♂️
I agree. I followed the directions exactly in this first video, then thought “why the heck was that bucket necessary?” I think Wagner just wants to cover their bases and make sure customers are comfortable with running the product.
@@Jennyfromtheshopthat makes sense. I thought maybe I was missing something. 😊
Very nice and informative as usual Jennifer. However I think I would hire a paint sprayer cleaning person and sip a nice beverage while they clean it up and I sit and admire the painted wall :-)
😂
I didn't clean it, can it be saved?
Maybe, but it will take some doing! You might have to buy a replacement hose and nozzle. Did you try letting warm water soak inside the tank area?
Don’t forget to clean the filter in the hand set
You should use ear protection with that sprayer.
I probably will when I’m not filming and speaking. Plus this was my first run, I wanted to be able to hear the changes in the motor. 👍 I’m more confident about using it now.
What would be the best way to line the bucket so we’re not washing paint down drain or to sewer?
Plastic liner? Plastic bag? 🤔
Who has ideas??
I wash mine outside in the gravel because it will wreck my septic system.
IM NOT GETTING IT WHEN PRIMING WHY YOU REMOVE THE PRIMMING HOSE?????? LET IT PRIME IN WITH PAINT
I agree! This video was the first time I used this sprayer and I followed the directions exactly. This was their recommendation and I’m sure they have a reason, but I think it’s a step that can be skipped.
@Jennyfromtheshop hi Jenny, I was just thinking it was a waste of paint not that much..have a wonderful day!!
It is a waste and extra mess. Totally understand your question about it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Wasn’t you supposed to prime with water first?
Nope, not according to the manual which lists water as a “recommendation” only to familiarize yourself with the unit and make sure it’s working. After using this a couple times I actually think the first step of spraying into a bucket first is pointless and wastes paint. The primer function works lightening fast.
Congratulatios !!! You are so beautiful
Did anyone experience paint dust residue everywhere?
Put the green tip in before you screw on the spray protector
Agreed. I ended up doing that when it wouldn’t seat properly but prior to that I was following the directions in order of their manual. I guess whichever way is easier for folks. Thank you for watching!🙌
@@Jennyfromtheshop I just used mine for the first time today - worked perfect although I need to find a better (less messier?) way to clean up😄
@@freedom35pedrick Lol, I hear ya! Cleanup was the worst part. Next time I think I’ll take mine outside but this was filmed in winter so I couldn’t.
You did not show the wall paint once completed . I would have loved it

I don't get the key part?it can't put it in the hole it's too big.😢
I had trouble with my key shifting during shipping too, I addressed how to fix it, I don’t recall where it is in the video, you might have to fast forward.
Around 6:30 I show how I fixed it.

👍👍👍👍
$200 at Lowes this weekend
Thank you!
