Stannis Baratheon Goes North - Game of Thrones Lore DOCUMENTARY

- Wizards and Warriors animated fantasy documentary lore video series on GRR Martin's world of Ice and Fire continues with the aftermath of the episode describing the madness of king Aerys II Targaryen ( • How Aerys Became the M... ) and Robert's Rebellion ( • Robert's Rebellion - B... ), as well as the Ironborn Rebellion of Balon Greyjoy ( • Ironborn Rebellion - G... ). The courtly intrigues led to the death of the King Robert Baratheon and the consequent succession crisis leads to the beginning of the War of the Five Kings. The Star heir Robb - the Young Wolf is eager to save his father Eddard and so he marches south, leading to the battles of Green Fork and Whispering Wood and of the Camps against the house of Lannister ( • Rise of the Young Wolf... ). The war of the Five Kings continues with the battles of Oxcross, Fords and Bitterbridge ( • Battle of Oxcross - Wa... ) inching the continent closer to the battle of the Blackwater Bay ( • Battle of the Blackwat... ). That battle was pivotal and changed the flow of the war. The Starks were also attacked by the Greyjoys from the north and were betrayed by their own bannermen, leading to the battles of Duskendale and Red Wedding ( • Red Wedding - Game of ... ). For now, we turn to the events in Essos, where we observe the rise of Daenerys Targaryen, who helped by her husband Khal Drogo of the Dothraki and her own resilience, makes the first steps on the way to returning the throne of her father Aeyrys ( • Rise of Daenerys Targa... ). Despite difficulties, Daenerys manages to build an empire in Essos by taking over a number of cities ( • How Daenerys Targaryen... ). The third and final installment in our mini-series on Daenerys Targaryen with the place where Dany's story ends in the books for now, as we wait for the release of the Winds of Winter ( • Where Dany's Story End... ). Elsewhere in the world, in the north part of Westeros, Jon Snow, known as the bastard of Ned Stark, was taking his first steps in the big world ( • Jon Snow: Beginning - ... ), leading his comrades in the Night Watch against the Wildling invasion ( • Rise of Jon Snow - Gam... ). Meanwhile, Stannis Baratheon was moving north to gain new allies and new legitimacy.

Man the show did Stannis the Main Mannus so dirty in the end.

Especially since Stannis did not march directly to Winterfell, thanks to Jon's advice. The smart thing to do would be to gather supporters in the North against the Boltons.

The commanders of the Shadow Tower and Eastwatch; Ser Denys Mallister and Cotter Pyke; were such complete polar opposites that couldn't stand one another.
Ser Denys was a highborn from Seagard, a castle built to defend against the Ironborn. Having a courteous, well-spoken, graceful and chivalrous nature, but distrustful of Ironborn. He sees Cotter Pyke as uncouth and uneducated.
Cotter Pyke was the baseborn son of a tavern wench from the Iron Islands. A blunt and rough speaking illiterate man with no regard for highborns. Seeing Ser Denys as pompous and not a warrior.
Their mutual distain was partly the reason for the election's deadlock. The only thing they could agree on was Janos Slynt being the worse choice. Samwell Tarly managed to convince both to support Jon Snow instead, by saying Stannis was going to name the other as Lord Commander.
The king who cared.
When the trumpets blew and the knights wheeled to charge, it was a different name they cried.

I swear, the maesters want to set up Jon to be Stannis’s heir.
It would be kind of neat if stannis adopted jon and named him the heir and jon became king after stannis took the throne and at one point dies, lol.

@@mappingshaman5280 Each people and era has its own rules of succession and its own mentalities. In Rome there's succession by adoption in feudal Europe, no. Just like it is in Wrsteros
How? Based in what claim?
As we get further into the lore videos we see more differences from the books and show; Mance Rayder lives, with a role still to play. Hopefully we'll get to see it from another POV character also in the North.
Still recommending any anime/manga fantasy/sci-fi world for the next lore video.
I'd love to see Legend of the Galactic Heroes be a series they could do.

@@Darkdaej Like has been pointed out elsewhere, GRRM is probably at least releasing TWOW & ADOS close to each other, and chances are that things from WOIAF, HOTD and Fire & Blood 2 are going to reveal hints from his modified story post-GOT show. I think hoping for all of that together is wishful thinking but it def fits into how GRRM plans stories to reveal things in sequential pieces with HOTD before TWOW and then do the same for ADOS
@@kongming66 I used to believe this but no longer. Book 5 was published in 2011. GRRM got sidetracked with other things, then delayed even further with his related projects.
The man is in his 70s and he's rather obese. He could die at a moment's notice. We might see TWOW but i hold no hope at all for a proper ending anymore.
I have to admit that I truly love these Game of Thrones videos, one of the best and definitely my favourite.

@@themadsnakebg7714 theory is that stannis will dig holes in the ice to trap the freys and boltans so they fall in. The name of the theory comes from when stannis used light to trick an enemy army before. The idea is stannis will do the same thing and force a March directly onto the hole ridden lake. Making it much easier for him to win despite having fewer men.

No he shouldn’t have. Stannis would have been a decent king, but he should not have been king. He literally burned his own daughter alive because he was blinded by religion. Jon should have been king. Out of all the potential candidates he was the least insane

@@AB-fr2einah, he being a literal Stark bastard is the better storyline, from Ned. Him being the reflection and upgrade of his own father. Even if he's a Targaryen bastard, I would like him to still think of himself as a Stark because his father was the one who raised him to be the good man he is
