    I have had the yellow bone trapper since 84. Carried it for 25 yrs. Im not a collector but have had Case knives in my pocket since 1975. Just work for me as a pocket knife

      That is awesome. Not sure how it will turn out for me. I will end up using a ton along the way for sure. They are pretty nice

    I own a few slip joints. When I have to actually use them, it's a legendary day....they are very good at small and tiny bird taxidermy.
    Basically, a chucker, mourning dove, California quail or very small bird with their little bones and joints and hyde all have to come off gently in one piece.
    I preserve every hyde for fly fishing, arrow fletching or modeling. I use the bones for jewelry, tattoo ink or flintnapping tools.
    With the slip joints, it's the slender clip point that works the Hyde off and cuts the joints much easier than a big fillet or edc folder. It forces you to slow down and control the direction.

    Man that is a sweet trapper!
    I have a yellow bone jumbo Case trapper and I love it. When it found it's way to me, it was dirty but otherwise in great condition mechanically. No real cosmetic damage aside from slightly worn scratches on the bone and dark spots on the blade. Not quite pitting, just dark, but I was able to clean everything up well. Now it looks and functions like a champ, with a touch of personality. I got it from a guy for changing his rear bicycle tire 😂. Not sure where he got it, but eh. It's about an $80 knife, so I ain't complaining. I have a few trappers but it's prob my favorite. I think my "2nd place" would have to be my Remington faux stagg mid sized trapper. It's a handy little blade.
    I'm a real sucker for fancy stilettos too. And u can't beat a good Karambit or a full tang mid size boot knife for defense either. I'll carry those if I'm gonna be out late or goin thru sketchy areas. Other than that, I tend to carry Kershaws and Smith's for a regular EDC.
    I got way too many knives 🤦‍♂️ but I just can't stop myself.

      Thx for input. Such a great hobby. I am glad finally started at age of 53 and hope to continue on to leave behind for my boys.

    Here in Texas we call that knife a tater. As for as changing bulls into steers. We always used the single blade sob buster. It is a single blade knife, a bit more beefy. Not a lockblade but, they are hard to open and close. At the end of the day anything will work if you have the stomach for it.😂

      Why a tater

      @ToddTheGunGuy That is a good question and I have no idea. I can only guess. Maybe some little kid 50 years or more ago couldn't say trapper????? At any rate it stuck. It may only be regional to this part of Texas. Maybe because folks peeled taters or potatoes for my norther brethren. Us Texicans don't have much learning would probably be the best guess.

    Sharp knife (no pun intended). What steel is the blade made from?

    • @ToddTheGunGuy
      @ToddTheGunGuy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel (SS) is a special high-carbon steel. This one has the SS. That’s what I found

    • @UncleDanBand64
      @UncleDanBand64 8 หลายเดือนก่อน
