Hey kickblake, sorry for the late answer. The answer depends on, weather you use the line-in mode (Switching the little switch on the front of the mixer) or if you use the line 3 /4 as line-ins or timecode-bypass mode with VirtualDJ. In first case you have EQ and Low/High-Pass Filter only. The other sweep effects won't work. In the second case you route the line-in signal, so to say, through the VirtualDJ software. Like this you can apply all effects, VirtualDJ provides, as normal. Inbcluding the sweep effects of VirtualDJ.
@@ElectronicGreenRoom Sorry I missed that part when you mention that. Also I was wondering does the Prime 4 show the BPM of the turntable even without DVS?
Wow many thanks. I'm just about to get the prime 4. It looks amazing. This is another whole level of geekiness. Could you answer for me how easy it is to do Vinyl rips from my collection please? It seems as if just straight recording to source should work. Is that correct? Many thanks.
Hey @OM Selection, I didn't check the recording using native Prime 4. In theory you should be able to record your vinyls directly to the device as you would do, when recording a mix. But I read in some Forums, that the recorded level is very low though. But everything should work in Computer-Mode. Even without VDJ or Serato the Prime 4 sound channels occure as normal sound devices in Windows. So you should be able to record your vinyls using the sound recording program of your choice. Btw. I started to record my vinyl like 15 years ago and stopped after 3h and never finished the job. It is so time consuming to do so...
@@ElectronicGreenRoom Thanks for your comments, its appreciated. I know, I'm having to downsize a fairly sizeable vinyl collection due to moving so I'm wanting to use it for primarily recording those records I'd like to sample or use Algoriddem to vocal rip from. There is a purpose but this denon system seems very well suited to. Could you direct me to where you saw the critique of the vinyl ripping because i cant see it on the denon forums. Danke scholn!
I use to use my DDJ-1000 with VDJ 2021 and had quite loud output for my OBS studio...I recently bought a Prime 4 and connected the same as the DDJ-1000 and the sound output is softer and the obs volume out from the controller has to be turned up to almost 70% before it hits the yellow bars in the equaliser in the OBS software....Any ideas why?
Hey Anthony, you're right. The recordings signal (Line 4/5) of the Prime 4 is very low. As I show at 09:10 in the video, you can add a filter, that amplifies the signal so that your outcome in OBS is very good in strength and quality. I don't know why Denon uses a such low output signal, but I saw various discussions on it in the Denon forums. Since I use the filter to amplify the signal, I have no issue with that.
So I can add a filter to my line in to amplify the sound yes? How does one use samplers as the Prime 4 doesn't have a sampler button like the pioneer's have
@@MOCKEA1 In conjunction with Virtual DJ you can change any button mapping to your needs. You could remap a button of the Prime 4 to the sampler buttons of Virtual DJ for instance. See www.virtualdj.com/manuals/virtualdj/settings/controllers/index.html for further information.
Nice! Great information thanks for sharing
Well Explained
Nice vídeo ! How do you récord your sets?
Thank you. Most are recorded using Webcams and VDJ camera plug-in. Some use OBS.
Do I need additional hardware to use DVS, or can I just hook my turntables up to the prime, and put a timecode vinyl on?
You just need a version of Virtual DJ with enabled DVS.
Do the 4 sweep effects on the mixer work with vinyl in line in mode?

Can you use the Denon Prime 4 with DVS and control vinyl?
Yes, that's what I explain in the video at minute 5.

Does the Denon Prime 4 support DVS with its default / prime software? OR if I use DVS I have to use Virtual Dj or Serato? Thanks
No, Prime software does not support DVS. You are correct. You have to use the Prime 4 in "Computer Mode" with some software like VirtualDJ or Serato.
