Worth mentioning, you could make it stronger by beveling the edges, it’d help leverage the usefulness of the thicker material. Probably won’t make much difference in this application given the geometry of the force though
If i make like four exactly same pieces i tack them together after a rough cut and hit them with a flap disc or belt sander so they get get the same shape. And maybe make a top plate between the two pieces to make it stronger
