that is truly incredible. I think i'm going to have to learn more about this gadget. I'm looking at getting an ebike with this automatiq hub with a belt drive. The idea of finding my perfect cadence and then being able to always ride in that cadence is truly a game changer! Thank you for the informative and concise video!
Not a trike user but have it on my normal riese & muller bike and i love it. very clean steering bar and one thing less to worry about just peddle and go always in correct gear at stoplight or when slowing down. It takes a few days to get used to but once you have its almost like riding a no gear bike.
We highly recommend doing so! It is a totally unique and wonderful riding experience so get in touch with your local ICE Trikes dealer and get that test ride booked ASAP!
Another cool development and clear and honest presentation in this video. I've already tried Bosch Performance Line CX with Enviolo and the experience is a Revelation - I expect Shimano Steps is similarly so. And one day I'll go electric myself - I'd like an Enviolo with a Gates drive too, but not just yet! Those hills don't get any flatter though...
Hi. Great to hear you're a fan of the Enviolo system. We find it to be a great addition to our Trike range. It's just one less distraction to an awesome ride!
Never mentioned a key parameter defining the system, the maximum ratio between the lowest gear and the highest gear. I believe it is a factor of about 4. It matters to people who must encounter a steep slope. What’s the lowest gear it will go to?
We are touring cyclists, looking to upgrade our trikes to ICE in the near future. We pull a burley cargo trailer to carry our support gear. How well will this system function when pulling up steep grade?
Hi @valkrys68. Great to hear you are looking at upgrading! The best thing to do regarding questions like this is got in touch via our website or give us a call. email us at sales@ictrikes.co and one of our technical team will answer any questions.👍
Great informative video. I have a question, bit off topic, im looking at a cargo bike with the automatic and wondered if it would work for hilly areas or if the Enviolo twist type shifter is better suited? Pretty much all reviews are from the rather flat Netherlands.. The cargo bike has it paired with the 4th gen 85nm bosch cargo line motor.. Any guidance would be really appreciated!
How high can the cadence be set? Like for example u dont have a rider setting it but instead a gas engine, output through a cvt & u want to say keep it at 5500rpm
Hi Dale. An interesting question but one I feel you would need to ask Enviolo themselves. That said, you may find the answer to your question in their manual here : enviolo.com/wp-content/uploads/Technical-Manual-enviolo-CY2021_June-2021.pdf
@@Icetrikes Thanks. It looks like the actual cadebce cant go anything nearly high enough however, modifying the app for a say factor of 10 output would be stoopid easy for the dev. Make it a locked maybe pay to play option to keep the peddle crowd from messing themselves up. I think it would be pretty hard to get there with gear sizing between say the CVT through a jackshaft on the other side to a factor of 10 I'd have to sit down and do the math but I think that would be stretch maybe not. But one of those two would work the dev altering the software would be the easiest obviously
Good question! Enviolo do produce a switch for this very purpose. We do not spec this switch as we found that once you have the set up dialed in, there is no need for it. We also found that we couldn't leave it alone, constantly micro adjusting things needlessly. (Which really defeats the point of a system designed specifically to enable you to forget your gears)!!
@@Icetrikes ...I know that after a long or strenuous ride, I often drop my cadence to catch a second-wind. Would be nice if this feature was possible with this hub.
Can an Enviolo Automatiq handle a Bafang BBS02 (500w) mid drive motor and can it change PAS settings for you electronically? Where can I source an Enviolo from Australia?
Why do you need the electric motor for it? Can't you just have a cadence meter and a battery to operate the shift and save on weight? I bought my trike to stay fit, don't want a motor.
i know this company is known for long lasting stuff but i still dont trust any sort of electronic shifting im sure it works amazing but so many things to go wrong.
The Enviolo hub system is a very reliable system that offers the rider 'pedal and go' cycling. The system is used by thousands of riders across the world with no issues at all. You should try it for yourself.

Excellent video, fantastic and totally compensable explanations. Chris Parker, thank you for giving us your personal experience.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That has got to make it incredible for exercise since you do not have to think about cadence and just enjoyment of the ride.
I have the auto shift and belt drive on my Tern HSD S+. My favorite bike ever!! Its truly amazing!

Awesome to here that you enjoy the Enviolo System. Here at ICE Trikes we can't get enough of it!
Do you still have multiple chainrings on the front?
Can't wait to test this soon

Do you have to be continuously peddling when using this hub?
What kind of cart are you pulling? I'm thinking I could go get groceries if I had more storage.
Will it handle mountain biking though...

Any way to change the target cadence on the run, or only via the app?

@@jjlad5037 just get the manual version then- it's not like a twist grip on a cvt is hard to use. Bet you'll save a ton of money.
