Ironically, I feel like the reason why Whitney and Bobbi Kris died before her was because of Cissy's tough parenting, which, in turn led to Whitney's negligent parenting of Bobbi Kris. Cissy Houston never validated Whitney having a lesbian relationship with Robin, whom she seriously disapproved of her life style. She also wasn't the type of mom Whitney could come and openly tell her everything, as in the case with Dee Dee Warwick, who raped Whitney as a child. This led to Whitney doing a lot of clandestine work behind her mom, as a form of rebellion and release from trying to be all perfect in her religious home. Obviously, this led to drugs, which her brother introduced her. I wonder if Whitney were with Robin, maybe she would have been in a healthier and happier mental state, that would keep her drug free and alive, as we see Robin happily married, with her own family now. Also, Whitney was a very absent mother. She was too preoccupied with her inner demons to be available for her daughter. She never slept with Bobbi Kris for her first 8 years or so, and exposed her to a highly dysfunctional and violent home, where constant argument and drug use was openly done for Bobbi Kris to easily see. Like mother, like daughter, Bobbi KRis became a drug addict too, not learning her lessons from the generational trauma of her family, and so she and her boyfriend died as well. Such a generational curse. Truly a pity.

Whitney’s negligent parenting was the kind where she was more so best friends with Bobbi Kristina rather than her mother. I also think that because of Whitney’s addiction and career she didn’t really know how to be a parent for Bobbi Kris. She was there physically and there’s no denying that she loved her daughter however, she wasn’t in the right headspace to be a parent. And this is coming from someone who absolutely adores Whitney Houston.

I know how it is to have to let others take care of your mom because I had to place mine in a home with dementia. She lost her battle at the age of 81 a year and a half ago! Its hard in the family to deal with every day and even harder when it's time to just in a sense give up and let professionals do the work you feel should be done by you! She was a great singer RIP Cissy! Now she's with family and singing again in heaven!
