@@TheJohnnyNeat I am really curious about the TCL X11 series TV"S If the hDR streaming movies and shows are just as good or better then the 2024 flagship models of Sony ,LG or Samsung
Samsung TV didn't have any QD-OLED TVs on display from memory - the screens seen were from restricted close presentations of Samsung Display . So a lot more B roll of Z95B and G5 - Think all three will be great for existing media - Samsung is really close to show 40000NIt masters natively - G5 can remap that to 2000Nit tone map and still look great ( this is for full colour mapping ability not just white highlights )
I absolutely LOVE my 2024 TCL QM8. I was going to get a Sony OLED, but after over a year of research, and rhe black Friday pricing I got the QM8. This is the biggest, brightest, and most color tv I have ever owned. In most situations, the black levels are about as good as the OLEDs my friends have. If TCL increases the viewing angles, implements 23bit LEDs, improves the video processing slightly, and has those even better blooming controls you guys talked about at CES, then TCL will be hard to beat. The 2024 QM8 was nearly perfect and ridiculously powerful. TCL in 2025 is going to be amazing
Blooming, talk to me about blooming? I have 65” LG E7 & C1 oleds, but the QM8 98” is on my fomo interest list for main theater/living room duty but now I’m like how good and at what cost are this year’s TCL sets going to be? Tariffs & fomo on the current $4k pricing on the QM8 has me running out of time it feels like.
LG’s G5 is pure gloss with an anti reflective treatment. It’s not even remotely close to matte and the picture quality is miles better than Samsung in terms of clarity and contrast . It falls short on color and uniformity, but what’s most important to you?
Miles better? Stop speaking in hyperbole, LG has better processing and slightly better clarity since its not matte. In a dark room you'd never know the difference unless you get within 1 foot of the screen and go looking for the tiny differences. We'll see which TV is actually better once they're available and shown side by side. Seeing these displays in a show room is a poor environment to judge them.
@Malinkadink ok if you are a dweller in darkness that never exposes a room to any light maybe, but I'm sorry the matte trashes the clarity and crispness in any sort of ambient light.
@@ubuu7 No it doesn't, have you seen the S95D in person or the G80SD monitor from Samsung that uses the same matte coating? If RGB mini LED makes it's way to mid range tv's, does OLED have any chance? Brighter, more colors and better color volume, bigger and cheaper. Only missing pixel level light control. That will be a tough sell for OLED
I'd always thought we'd need to get to a 600hz display and run plasma subfield drive simulation to get there. This was a surprisingly good result with much less display oomph. Definitely the coolest display tech I've seen in the last little bit!
would be interesting to talk about fast burn in of actual qd.oleds. it has been tested .and documented. Qd oleds burn in about 50% faster than regular woleds
Are they finally bringing ADS Pro to 55 and 65 inch? We've usually seen them in 75 inch which is less common. I gotta say the cooling with the extra panel is going to be great for OLEDs. They are now becoming decent SDR performers - when OLEDs hit 600 nits on a full window and have cooling to avoid ABL, that's when LEDs will never really touch them again. They're edging close to that and it's a far cry from the 150 nits that we had a few years ago. The problem is that the mid-range units are not keeping up as much - what improvements will the C5, S90F, Bravia 8 bring to the table?
Can’t wait to see that comparison between the Sony Bravia 9 and TCL QM6K. I’m guessing we will be surprised how good the TCL performs against a TV three times as much.

No doubt but as they say "no replacement for displacement" when it comes to immersion and if you want anything bigger than 83" because you're sitting more than 9 feet away, OLED becomes cost prohibitive.
Contrast is a concept tho . Human brain 🧠 is biases tho . 🦕◼️ And then 🐡🦕 Oled can NOT achieve LED level brightness . 🔆 in biology program . Those professors 🧑🏫 research professor call OLED with “in real life lower contrast “

I want a large bright 85 inch TV to put outside by the pool in this Florida sun so I can watch sports. Looking at the hisense or TCL not wasting my time with any other brand. I want the best size with performance for the price ratio.
Leaning strongly toward the Panasonic 77 inch but if TCL or Hisense can wow me on price, contrast and audio without viewing angle reduction (a lot to ask) I’d have a tough decision. Hoping Panasonic doesn’t try to replicate Sony prices. We’ll see
If the G5 can match QD-OLED colour saturation it's going to be better, as it still keeps its black levels in lit rooms, QD-OLED'S have this terrible purple tint, and also the G5 is glossy
Hopefully it's the new Display Port standard. I highly doubt console gaming is anywhere near slowing down but it sure helps to have options. More TVs should have Display Port also.
@tobiasbauer198 How strange, I don't know of any LCD that has 97% of Bt2020, along with 10,000 nits, not in the last 25 years, not even in the last one, if you add the new WHVA panels etc etc. But yes, if you boil it all down to the absurd, even a Ferrari and a TATA are the same, a car

Again, what's taking advantage of color bandwidth that high right now or even in the future? Am I off here a bit? It's ok if I am, I just want clarification. 😊
Hi Stop the Fomo, I’m deciding whether to purchase the Sony Bravia 9 85” TV now or wait for the new TCL TVs expected this spring. Based on your experience at CES and the information you’ve gathered, do you think the TCL X11 85” Enthusiast/Flagship TVs will offer picture quality for streaming movies and shows comparable to or close to the Sony Bravia 9? Also, do you have an educated guess on the pricing for the TCL X11 85” Enthusiast/Flagship models? Thank you for your insights and all the helpful content you create! Sincerely; Steven
Very different objectives. Bravia 9 looks perfect for movie watching with natural skin tones out of the box. Historically, TCL required a bit of tweaking to come close but even after calibration, didn't quite match the skin tones of the Sony. It's hopefully better in 2025 so going with the B9 is safe
@@stopthefomo ok Thank you so much for your insight. I watch your channel and TechTherapy's channel all the time. You guys are the BEST! I feel you know what you are talking about
FOMO or anybody here: I have to make a choice between a 77” Sony Bravia 8 and a 65” Sony A95L. My local Best Buy store has them as an open box in excellent condition both at the same price! Should I go for size or brightness and quality? Thanks! 🙏🏽
Always go on quality! Nothing can beat the Sony A95L! When you have both TV side-by-side, the Bravia 8 has no chance against the A 95L. As good as the Bravia 8 is, you can’t beat the king 😅 always go for quality and not for size. You will not regret the A95L
@ thanks so much for the input! Now that I think about it 65” is probably better since I’m putting it in my bedroom. The 77” would probably be overkill for that room loli
Im a LG fan. over Samsung an Sony. I'm not into the "High end" most expensive TVs cause I don't need the latest and greatest. I Like staying in the Middle. That's where I seem to get the Bang for the buck at a Great price. C series is where I always fall. I rarely if ever use a soundbar.. MicoLED is so far out of my sphere it's not even a Thought and 8K means absolutely 0 to me. I will admit TCL an Hisence offer alot and seem to be ahead of the curve in tech alot of the time for the Price. But I just stick with LG and have seen Nothing that is going to get my to buy a TV this year.
I still remember when CBS forced CNET to pull their "Best in CES" award from Dish Network back in 2013. Why would anyone treat them as credible after that?
I think the way to go for Samsung will be RGB microLED. It is better and cheaper than OLED. Basically you put a low resolution microLED display/backlight (let say 480p) behind a regular LCD and you get almost undistinguishable results from OLED in terms of contrast/blooming. A very low resolution microLED array (specially on a big size like 75"+) should be easy and cheap to produce for Samsung and with very high yield unlike a 4K one, where you need millions of microLEDs extremely close to each other. This approach is very similar to the dual LCD tech some companies tried before (which produced pretty much OLED contrast levels) using one black and white LCD as backlight but without the disadvantage of losing brightness, slow response time, etc. because you had a normal backlight that needed to go though 2 LCD layers.. in this case the microLED low res display (or array whatever you wanna call it) hits directly the LCD layer and that's why you end up with 10k nits and great color gamut. Even if it is not pixel level control it is good enough that whatever blooming it might exist will be almost imposible to notice.
@ Thanks. So they weren't using a distinct Red Green Blue LED. So it was a bit of a pre-cursor to the recent RGB backlight technology, but not nearly as advanced.
@@kevinfinke6927 There was never a colored backlight system with color changing dimming zones. Never. This new tech is not the rgb. It is that every backlight zone can adjust its color and with that improve color volume, brightness and improve power efficiency..
The groups lg pays a lot of advertising to picked them huh. I’d argue the micro led TVs are better, especially the awall since it’s actually affordable
There's some hate on this channel for LG lately for some reason. You ignoerd the fact the G5 is brighter on your live stream from CES and it seems you continue with that.
Not a hater, just telling it like it is. We recognize that it's brighter and so is the S95F, but brightness has NEVER BEEN THE PROBLEM with the G4. It's the color luminance that needed to get brighter, and it apparenly addressed that in the G5 but only to match the QD-OLED - so why are we excited that the G5 is now at best matching QD-OLED? Notice I'm not praising QD-OLED this year either despite it being slightly brighter as well, both claiming 4000 nits? As a matter of fact, I firmly believe LG OLED will survive QD-OLED which is likely retired within 2 years.
@@stopthefomo Thank you for the clarification. OLEDs than brought nothing this year. What to look for this and next year if I want best quality picture in 55-65 inch range? I'm still confused with this new MicroLED tech and hope you'll explain in details all the important differencies between Samsung's and Chinese MicroLED tech as it's currently misleading.
@@stopthefomoglossy screen. You may have made peace with the inferior clarity destroying matte finish but others want it preserved. Losing a little color on analready boosted color tandem oled vs the latest qdoled is well worth the trade imo
As long as hisense or other's does not publish the technology in 55", I personally have no interest. Always big, big,big.. Not everyone wants to have such large boxes at home. But I would like to buy the good technology in a small format.
LG G5 for me, but my disappointment is they will broke the Magic Remote, they go back in time 11 years ago with Magic Remote on their Full HD high end tv with few buttons on remote like Samsung have now. So i use intense Magic Remote, is 10 time faster than my other Samsung remote at my home. I use long press function to quick jump to my favorite Apps, so i long press 1 jump to my USB, press 2 jump to TH-cam, press 3 go on Netflix... And you have on Samsung a tinny shit remote with just a few direct functions and USB charging and very little solar panel on the other side. So annoying to put Samsung remote on charging!
My wanted Stats are clear. Must be OLED, must be 83" ( not bigger, not smaller). Needs 4 HDMI 2.1 Ports ( so Pana and Sony are Out). So it has to be the LG or Samsung. And LG gives the 5 Years Warrant, so...🤷
I love your channel, but I have some difficulty making out what you say at times because you talk so fast and, I think, clip your words. I think it might be your excitement, but I miss parts of words as you zip through your presentation.
Lol...All you peasants arguing over scraps of bread and spoiled turnips. Stop fighting over 2nd rate tvs. The King (Sony) will soon come out with another "tv of the year" model.
Not sure who voted the G5 best of CES but they obviously have no clue what they are doing. The Samsung S95 F is the best tv at CES., LG slightly increase the color to look a little better next to a QD OLED panel but dont be fooled. The best picture quality that money can buy is on a QD OLED panel the second best is a LG WOLED panel. Those other mini led panels are not worth the time of day because its impossible for them to complete with self emissive panels.
Panasonic got last place at the HDTVTest Shootout, here's a quote from one of the judges: "I and all the judges were shocked by how poor the Panasonic unit was. It lagged significantly behind the other sets in most critical categories. Simply avoid."

The G5 looks great and bright, but FOMO makes a good point, if the G5 looks to match the latest QD OLED in brightness it still loses in color saturation. Does not seem overly harsh?
The problem seems to be that fomo only looks at the colours, whereas he should look at the contrast level, because humans have around ten times more nerve cells in the eyes, which can see dark and light, in comparison to colours. Contrast is the one essential factor not some colours, which can't be distinguished from other colours anyway. @@TheDiymovies

Non mini led will new be as good as OLED. Its great they are trying to get more out of mini led but its still 2nd to OLED in contrast, etc.
No doubt but as they say "no replacement for displacement" when it comes to immersion and if you want anything bigger than 83" because you're sitting more than 9 feet away, OLED becomes cost prohibitive.
Contrast is a concept tho . Human brain 🧠 is biases tho .

And then

Oled can NOT achieve LED level brightness . 🔆 in biology program . Those professors 🧑🏫 research professor call OLED with “in real life lower contrast “
Loving the G5 LG
What about that UV backlight quantum dot that you were excited about recently?
Not at TV panel sizes yet - i needs panel manufacturer to pick up the technology first
I am looking to upgrade my 65 LG g1. Need 4 HDMI 2.1s. was thinking an 83 g5 or maybe a 100+ inch Hisense. Leaning g5 but will the g6 just add back the MLa and blow the g5 out of the water?
I want a large bright 85 inch TV to put outside by the pool in this Florida sun so I can watch sports. Looking at the hisense or TCL not wasting my time with any other brand. I want the best size with performance for the price ratio.
Any information on the 2025 Sony tv?
Leaning strongly toward the Panasonic 77 inch but if TCL or Hisense can wow me on price, contrast and audio without viewing angle reduction (a lot to ask) I’d have a tough decision. Hoping Panasonic doesn’t try to replicate Sony prices. We’ll see
I agree I thought the hisense rgb was the winner, I've been wondering for a long time why nobody has showed a concept.
I brought Bravia 9 for its motion, I would buy any OLED Brands
but who has the best motion in all inputs modes no gaming
10,000 nits not a needed feature, color & motion more important
If the G5 can match QD-OLED colour saturation it's going to be better, as it still keeps its black levels in lit rooms, QD-OLED'S have this terrible purple tint, and also the G5 is glossy
Should I buy another B9 or wait for Brighter Oleds 🤔
or buy Tcl 2025 over new Sony 2025
Who has the better image quality 2025
I’m interested in the Hisense ux
Displayport on the TV is very smart, just more indication that the era of console gaming is on the way out.
Hopefully it's the new Display Port standard. I highly doubt console gaming is anywhere near slowing down but it sure helps to have options. More TVs should have Display Port also.
Any news on qdel?
Customer is winning 😮 So many options 🥰
What’s the price on the TCL 115 QM7??
Rgb miniled was the best, the only thing is that at 116" it's not going to be a real option yet, maybe in 2026
Samsung rgb micro led might be a better panel for smaller TV sizes like 75" or maybe even 65"
I agree
It's the exact same LCD technique we have seen for around 25 years.
@@tobiasbauer198 RGB is different than what we have been getting. Hisense and Samsung RGB Miniled looked great at CES.
What's taking advantage of 22-23bit color? Cinema cameras obviously, but who is mastering in that high? Am I off here? Online Content is barely entering into 10-bit color no? Again, what's taking advantage of color bandwidth that high right now or even in the future? Am I off here a bit? It's ok if I am, I just want clarification. 😊
They’re talking about subtle light control by the TV to improve display contrast not content itself
Thanks 👍@@stopthefomo
Samsung and TCL for me
Which Brand do you think will be the first to offer HDMI 2.2?
Hopefully NONE, but it would be a gaming monitor so likely LG
@stopthefomo Makes sense! Thanks!
Come back down to earth,, ok I’m in the market now , Samsung all my life , now more .. tcl , Hisense . Should I buy now or wait till the next 2025 ,
Gotta wait for summer when 2024 Samsung prices drop to clearance and you can decide if the 2025 price premium is worth the "upgrades"
I’m rich but simple. You telll me , c
Hi Stop the Fomo,
I’m deciding whether to purchase the Sony Bravia 9 85” TV now or wait for the new TCL TVs expected this spring.
Sincerely;
Steven
@@lpromer4796 65 is definitely big enough, you will appreciate the better quality of the A95L
I think if samsung removed the anti glare coating and the one connect box they would absolutely print money
Ill stick with my 77 S90c until microled becomes affordable.
They are absolutely right panasonic more development with lg pannel.Unfortunately I completely agree with the others. 😅
I perfer Panasonic..new models have great reviews..
Is microled smaller than miniled?
Yes, but Samsung exaggerates the size of its “microLED”
@@stopthefomo but it's still smaller than mini? Or same size just different naming
I still remember when CBS forced CNET to pull their "Best in CES" award from Dish Network back in 2013. Why would anyone treat them as credible after that?
Oh wow go TCL 23 bit - want to see that - I love sony but there expensive. 🌞
You're all raving about the "new" RGB backlight, but didn't Sony bring this to market back in 2008 with their TRILUMINOS 3 Color LED backlight system?
No, there was no colored zone backlight. Just white LEDs with rgb coating
Sadly, I did notice the seams separating each microLED tile from 7 feet away - this needs improvement if we're going to pay over $10K
@ it's 10 times less than the Samsung. I think I could live with it
When nano led self emitting comes out then ill get excited. This is all just filler while the thec is being perfected, scaled down and cost effective.
Panasonic 😊❤
Losing a little color on analready boosted color tandem oled vs the latest qdoled is well worth the trade imo
lol about that frame ridding off hhhh
Hisense RGB mini LED in 100 inch please
In China will be an 100" first. Then, maybe other part of the world will get from the same size.
And LG gives the 5 Years Warrant, so...🤷
I'm a "common man?"8:10 What you talkin' bout, Willis?
LOL the common man with $1000 to spare is probably not as common as I think!
G4 still the best ❤
I'm waiting for 2025 Sony's lineup.
TCL qm8
I love your channel, but I have some difficulty making out what you say at times because you talk so fast and, I think, clip your words. I think it might be your excitement, but I miss parts of words as you zip through your presentation.
Lol...All you peasants arguing over scraps of bread and spoiled turnips. Stop fighting over 2nd rate tvs. The King (Sony) will soon come out with another "tv of the year" model.
AND I'M THERE FOR IT!
Why is this even a conversation when nothing has been reviewed? Also who spends over $1500 on a tv and uses its speakers? Bro, just buy a $600 tv.
NASA has 24.5 bit, with 11,500 nits, FOMO. 😁
Considering my bad experiences with LG oled and how good the S95D is, yeah im more excited for QDOLED
I hate this disgusting trend of matte OLED displays. Took us ten years to get glossy gaming monitors.
G5 may not be "matte" but definitely anti-glare so this could be the compromise you're looking for!
we are not the minority at all.. antiglare suck for all
Did UTube really just remove my comment? It was a joke.
Agree with Z95B over G5.
Panasonic got last place at the HDTVTest Shootout, here's a quote from one of the judges: "I and all the judges were shocked by how poor the Panasonic unit was. It lagged significantly behind the other sets in most critical categories. Simply avoid."
I am a big fan of your channel but you are biased towards LG Because they don’t like you. Stop Dissing LG Fomo please.
The G5 looks great and bright, but FOMO makes a good point, if the G5 looks to match the latest QD OLED in brightness it still loses in color saturation. Does not seem overly harsh?
“Biased towards…”
Yes because it is w OLED and the more you drive brightness you lose out the color spectrum, just the nature of woled@@TheDiymovies
LG is the sloppy second, close but not quite there.
