In 2023 I saw your video and saved it s so I could follow your recipe at a later date. I grew more plants in 2024 to have enough so I could make your jam. I used your recipe a week ago after harvesting my Rosella for first time with only 3 plants I ended up with 7 half pint jars. After it cooled I made a slice of toast to use it on and just loved it. Thanks you for such an easy recipe and a great teaching video. In 2025, im going to plant many more rosella plants to have more to make jam to enjoy even more and to give as gifts. After my jars cooled and set, I gave a jar to my 80 year old neighbor who is such a wonderful lady. She loved it. Thank you! And I would love to learn how you make your tea now.
Thank you so much for beautifully demonstrating and explaining clearly each step & tips of the process. I am feeling very confident to do my own Rosella Jam after watching this.
Hi Good morning, I'm from Kellyman Channel, I have made my roselle Jam a few days ago but watching your video making roselle Jam was really a perfect one, I did not use the seeds without knowing it was very useful too..Thank for sharing your wonderful tips of making that beautiful roselle Jam, hope you have a great day ❤
I harvested my calyx' yesterday, and this morning I made the jam. It was my first time. I followed your steps and I just finished jarring them. I had a little tiny bit left in the pot, so I put some filtered water into it. Stirred it, strained it. It was delicious! Thank you so much for the excellent video. You are a joy to listen to!! Thank you so much!!
I can't thank you enough for this video! My jam came out amazing! My friend nearby gave me the fruit to try. Fortunately I can grow Rosella here in FL! I'll be making more. My hubby LOVES it! That's saying a lot because he doesn't like jelly or jam. 🥰
I adore a tart jam, satisfied in the past only by a relatives black Doris plum jam but that superb cook is no longer here. I’m in Queensland and just found (your) the best alternative I think. Thank you for your excellent video.
I planted Roselle for the first time and just started to harvest the roselle calyces. You explain the making of the jam sound very easy. I was planning on making tea, but after watching your video, I think I will also try to make this jam - if I have enough! I also have a small TH-cam Channel that I will showcase this wonderful roselle jam! Thank you Rosella Queen! I just subscribed! Thanks!
Thank you so much for your recipe of the rosella jam!! It's so delicious! This is my first time growing the hibiscus rosella plant and I'm really enjoying them! Great instructional video!! ❤
Fantastic! I have never heard of this plant. I recently saw someone growing here in West Texas. I shall add this to my garden and look forward to making your recipe. I do not care much for jams and jellies but love tart and hibiscus and now this has me itching to make it. Thank you so much for sharing!
I really appreciate your video:) this is my 2nd year of growing rosella. First year i only made teas and juices with it but this year i am going for jam :) xxx
Thanks for this very informative video. Love the crop in the background. For those into fibre crafts, the rosella bark is also useful for making string/ fibre. Also, if you don't want to order a pitting tool, a metal straw or empty pen stylus can work too.
I have been desperate to acquire a plant, and thus far have been unsuccessful in South Africa. It is so good for bringing down blood pressure if you are suffering from high blood pressure, and no side effects like one would get from chemical blood pressure medication.
I have managed to get seed in September from the Boeremark Pretoria. But the plants are no where near flowering. Think it was our late spring. Try a seed swop near you, or Permaculture group
This is the best roselle jam video i have found yet! Thank you so much! I did make this recipe from my central Florida harvest. I did leave my jars turned upside down for a few hours. The jam hasnt dropped to the bottom...I wonder if that would be a problem. Im used to water bathing and since I didnt this time I left them turned over too long... Please Help :--)
@ccs.kitchen_australia I actually just opened and used two of my jars! Delicious!!! It still preserved well even though it was upside down too long. Thank you.
What a beautiful, professional presentation. Thank you. If I do not have enough calyxes to make even 1/2 K of calyxes can I separate the calyxes from the seed pods and freeze both separately till I have enough to make jam? I do not know if freezing the seed pods would ruin the pectin in them. Thank you in advance for responding.
Hi Cc thank you for your video. Your field of Roselle is beautiful Should I save seed pods in fridge or freezer until i can harvest enough Caylx to make jam? Or do you recommend i boil them right away to extract pectin and save the pectin extract in freezer or fridge. Also, you do not add any water to the Calyx, only the pectin liquid? Thank you again .
Thank you for the excellent demonstration, my jam came out perfect, but I strained some to make jelly, but the jelly did not set, I wonder why the jelly did not set? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I tried making my first batch today. The problem I ran into is the string like fibers that were in the pulp and ended up in the jam. It is delicious but the stringy fibers are very annoying and very difficult to chew. There were too many and so thin it was impossible to pick through the pulp to remove them before I poured them into jars. I cooked the 2nd batch much longer to try and see if that would help dissolve them but it did not. Any ideas? Thank you.
Hi there. If the pulp is too fibrous, it could be because the fruit maybe a bit old. Are the seed pods still green or brown when picked? Or perhaps the fruits gone dry? Hope this answers your question.
@@wooloogafarmkitchen Yes, I think you nailed it! I wasn't quite sure when to pick them. Some I picked when they were very large and others were smaller. Maybe I left them growing a bit too long. The seed pods were mostly green the larger fruit were beginning to turn lighter towards the brown color. Also, I waited a few days after picking before I made the jam. So maybe a bit dried out as well. Thank you for your answers. I now have some improvements to try my next go around with them. Love your recipe and appreciate you introducing me to this great fruit. The family loves it!!
Great video, I'm in Florida and have a large bushy plant that I grew from seed and now many calyxes- I wanted the deseeding tool, I see it's price is $74.00!! That's crazy, and it's out of stock anyway. Does anyone have ideas for alternate seeder tools?
Try an early roselle variety like at Cody cove farm or true love seeds. Some varieties are very daylight sensitive and only bloom as day length shortens so you want a variety that is more day length neutral and behaves more like okra. Good luck!

thankyou you explain it so well.
In Jamaica we use the old umbrella handle to de-seed it,the handle can hold over a dozen flower
Awesome tip, very resourceful😊

@@sandymurray3997 Thank you for the information. I really would like to get some seeds and try to cultivate some plants, (hopefully). 🤗
Thanks for sharing how to get pectin from the seeds. One love from Jamaica 🇯🇲 💕 ❤

Sorry for late reply. Only need to turn the jars upside down for 2 minutes.

Yes you can, as long as you do after they've been freshly picked. Look forward seeing you make the jam

Yes, freeze pods and calyx.
Yes don't add water to the calyx only the Rosella liquid from boiled seeds. Happy jamming😊
Thank you for the excellent demonstration, my jam came out perfect, but I strained some to make jelly, but the jelly did not set, I wonder why the jelly did not set? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
It is tricky, you may need to use a setting agent to help set the jelly
Please share your website to order the Rosella seed removal tool. Thank you. Do you ship to the US?
Wonderful , can i boil dry roselle seeds to extract pectin
You can try, but I don't think it will give you the best result

Use a tiny funnel (1/4"?) with the tiny funnel end to push put the seed
🎉
Have you tried baking rosella pie or rosella turnovers? I’m curious
Yes I have, do add green apple with it. Let me know how you went😊
Hi Mrs Rosella Queen. How much do i need if i want to add flavours like lemon or ginger.
Hi there. It really depends upon how much you want to add in and how big is your batch
What other preservatives can i use.
Can i use dried toselle petals for jam making?
You could try, but it may not give you the best taste and texture
Are these hibiscus flowers? Or is that a different plant?
Our variety is called Hibiscus Sabdariffa which is edible hibiscus. It's crimson fruit got a seed in it.
What is the shelf life for the jam?
Can I put honey on my rosella jam instead of white sugar?
You could try, why not. Let me know how you go😊
I had never heard of the Rosella plant, Where can I find one ? I live in South Carolina and would they grow here?
Try your nursery. How's the climate over there. They thrive in sub tropical climate.
@@wooloogafarmkitchen it's hot here all spring through September and sometimes October And the humidity is high here to
