Having seen the show last year at The Coliseum, London a couple of times, and now again also again a couple of times on the new run at The Dominion, London, this taster goes nowhere near doing the actual show justice. In the theatre the whole cast deliver up a total feast of a musical, a brilliant and heart warming spectacle. Go see the show for real! I was there last night andwill be back again next Wednesday for both matinee and evening performance. It really doesn't get any better than Bat Out Of hell the musical.

Bob Smithies there were complaints from me. I was stood approx midway between the circle and the front of the stage, and had trouble heading some of the performers. Many of the videos from 2017 have really poor sound - like they were just using the mic on the single camera they were using. At least this year it sounded like they were using the feed to the speakers. This year I could barely hear the start of Soul of a Man from Kinky Boots - it was only once the actor got to the louder bits that I could hear him.
Seen this show a few times and the atrocious sound quality here bears no resemblance to the show. They absolutely nail the music and vocals in the theatre If your thinking of going don't be put off by this poor quality sound
QUESTION: WHY on every single west end live video, no matter the year or what show it is, is the sound quality absolute shite?! are the sound techs asleep or just stupid? fix this issue and do the production, the story, the cast, the crew and everyone else involved justice on how amazing the shows are, instead of showing badly recorded snippets the make the show sound appalling and NOTHING like it does in the actual theatre/proper production.

Sure, in an event like this, you cannot run up or stop the show for one mic but the whole thing sounds very poorly mix. I badly wanna give this video a thumbs down because of the terrible sound but I seriously can't bring myself to do that cause this is just awesome! Hadn't heard of this musical before and now all I wanna do is travel to England and see it!
The pound is cheap at the moment. Travelodge and Easyjet are cheap. Same here, I want to see Hamilton but cannot really afford to go (and I live in North England).
Bob Smithies it doesn't really matter how cheap the pound gets I still won't have the money for this kind of things, at least if I wanna survive for like the next 6 months or so 😂

I have to admit I’m not a fan of musicals. But I thought I would check this out because I love Meatloaf. It’s cool this music lives on . But I thought this was kinda cheesy and this guy does not compare to Meatloaf in his prime vocally.
You can see why the show failed - great music, but awful direction. No focus on the vocals and flooding the stage with cheesy dancers. It's always been the power of Meatloaf's songs which made them work. The director missed the mark by a country mile.
Seriously, all the incredible Sound Number 1s on West End were too busy to mix this? Man this sounds like garbage. And I still can't get a West End mixing gig....
I was gonna see this recently in London but saw School Of Rock instead and I'm so glad I did.I didn't like this one but cause I'm not much of a fan of Meatloaf and was very pleased I choose School Of Rock instead.i loved that show.

West End and Broadway Rock musicals, what do they do? Target the most theatrically OTT performances in rock history by such as Queen (We Will Rock You), 80s hair bands (Rock of Ages), and Meatloaf (Bat Out Of Hell), and embed them in a paper thin story that functions just to pass the time between songs. The music is stripped of what little wit, edge and spontaneity it had, with classical orchestrations and stage school kids who strut and skip and gurn and stare and bare their teeth in a cartoon parody of rock's raw energy and threat. (Something similar might be said about Mercury, Jovi and Meatloaf themselves of course!) A night at the theatre for people who appreciate neither authentic music nor mature drama, I guess.
