Patrice's time was just around the corner. If he would have been around with the whole Netflix comedy specials started to blowup he would have been at least par with Bill Burr.

When did Chris say he's funnier than Patrice? When did he say he's a better Comedian than Patrice? When did anyone tell Patrice to stop being Patrice? This is just general, good advice between a guy that has a lot of respect in his field and a guy on verge of that same thing. Most of these comments near the top of the page don't get it. Being nice and respectful to your employers is just common sense. Patrice's raw comedic abilities were amazing and finding the right projects could have propelled him to bigger things quicker. He would have gotten there regardless (had he not passed away so soon) but Chris was simply just trying to make him see what Chris himself had to learn.

I don't know if Patrice could've ever been huge, he'd have so many groups calling for him to apologize on the news. Look what happened to Tracy Morgan, Tina Fey put him on her show then turned her back on him until he apologized for his comedy, would Patrice stand for that? Patrice was an artist, we keep artists around because what they do is interesting not because they are good employees. You wouldn't invite Salvador Dali over to your house then get mad when he hosts an orgy in your bedroom, you wouldn't tell Jimi Hendrix to play a banjo, why do we tell comedians they should be nice? they're essentially professional assholes. I understand that no one wants to work with a guy that's constantly rolling his eyes and acting too cool for the room , but someone should've realized the potential Patrice had.

Patrice had the upmost potential to be the greatest comedian ever. His jokes were wild and his crowd control was absolute top tier. He could turn around a bomb night easily. The man left us too soon and never really truly had his time. I’m very thankful for elephant in the room but something tells me that was only the beginning on what could have been an all star comedy career.

I can keep going....these were all stand up comics before hollywood and they just played the game..some got fed up and just left some just lingered but they all made it to Hollywood. That whole "it is what it is" was great for back in the day but now hollywood WANTS people of color because we are the highest demographic when it comes to buying movie tickets and videos. True Bill is white and theres no doubt that helped him out but Patrice didn't give a fuck. That was the major obstacle in his way. Even when he did try he just couldn't play the game. He admitted as much on many occasions.

Patrice was brilliant and knew the consequences of his actions. He wasn't going to dance for anybody. You sound like Patrice never knew why he wasn't famous. In fact, he did. He was mad that he didn't have more fans in the sense the they couldn't muscle him out of work even if they tried their hardest. He was mad that he wasn't more socially relevant on his terms and was curious/angry with the fact as to why more people didn't listen to him. Because he has hardcore devoted fans who know what kind of brilliance he was, then why couldn't everyone see it? A man with a yearn to just have his opinion heard and be of influence.
