Band-Maid songs are a mix of motivational or relationships lyrics. Influencer would be a good song to look at the lyrics on…it was talked about in the Miku documentary. But it an interesting twist on how our world is today! Keep reacting! 🤘🕊️🦍🥷👸🏻👀PO!
What I've been told about the lyrics is a guy and a girl meet online using avatars. The guy loves her avatar but she wants a real life relationship. She feels like she is competing with her avatar for his love/attention.
You need to be aware that at start of this song, not only MISA, but Saiki was also barefoot. Then MISA and Saiki knelt down together to laugh at each other😊
This is one of the best LIVE performances I have ever heard by ANY band !!!!! This is the song that turned me into a Maidiac !!!! Try PLAY LIVE version next !!!!! It's my second favorite performance !!!!!
The song is about men who choose to date virtual girls inside video games, rather than dealing with annoying and smelly real life women. It’s a thing in Japan. One reason for the shrinking population. WAKANAI/WAKKANAI is a contraction of WKARANAI, which means, “I don’t understand.”
There are many unique aspects to Real Existence that sets it apart from many rock songs: the starts and stops; Miku's little breakout vocal line; MISA's unique high-neck "fugue" during (in this performance) a homage dance with Saiki, both in black dress and shoeless; Akane's double tempo gallop; and Kanami's solo. I mean, who would ever put that kind of solo in a rock song? But it works... just like all of the plot-twists, complex density, and genre-merging they employ on most of their material. Every section offers something different than the previous one. That's one reason many people -- unless you're a musician - may find it difficult to get into their music at first listen. As tightly integrated as it is, there's so much going on. And then you add the Japanese language and maid outfits... But for people who like and appreciate their writing, musicianship, performance and personalities, Band-Maid's beautiful cacophony of excellence offers unlimited rewards for repeat listening... and mega stardom for the Maids, imxo. Thx, Nate & Casey!
I think you guys got it about right with the lyrics. "Virtual doll" makes me think of any or all of the following obsessions: vtubers, anime or game characters, or just plain ol' fantasies. The woman in the lyrics wants reality not fantasy.
To see what they are doing now remembering that this clip is a few years ago check out Hate? (Yes it has a question mark) at the Yokohama arena. It's scathing of some poor bastard and a great performance.
LOVE DON'T LET ME DOWN please! Early tune about the slippery sport. Miku runs Shibuya in heels! Cheesy "oriental" Japanese backgrounds - quite ironic! It is a romp!
You also have to remember Band-Maid didn't write this song. It was before they took over song writing and full composition. Its one of their best songs but not their words.
I was always thinking that it's a reference to the virtual characters like Miku Hatsune and other Vocaloids. You may wish to check REOL's song RESONANCE (Hibikase): th-cam.com/video/UC_qla6FQwM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ekH9rWodaiVqAKZQ , it explains it even better. My gateway into Japanese music was Vocaloids, mostly the metal ones like YuYoYuPpe and Utsu-P. But a lot of others as well, there are some amazing hits which everybody knows, like "I am the World Princess" (the one which starts with the words "Sekai de, Ichiban no Hime-sama...") and ECHO by Crusher-P: th-cam.com/video/cQKGUgOfD8U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=te2CEsEygyg3AMhv Another one I love very much is Ucha-P with the song Poker Face: th-cam.com/video/XKVaXhzUdKs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NNnUc4fOcwTsVEKr You may have seen the anime Ghost in the Shell. The Matrix movie was actually based on it, as the Wachovsky siblings explained. It is a huge discourse in Japanese society, about what it means to be human, and if an AI is a human being. I believe this song, REAL EXISTENCE, just joins this discussion, speaking from the side of such a virtual girl who is sure that she is real, and insists that the guy on the other side of the glass should not dismiss her as non-real. For her, it's a real existence, and she says she also wants to be loved. And of course, she feels lonely.
Actually she took them off before going down to the rail. You can see them on stage, and she never went _in_ to the crowd, she was held up against the rail in front of the "Princess Section" by one of the crew.
Great reaction, but I guess you already knew that until the song "Alone" none of the songs were composed or written by the girls. Since "Alone", most of the songs were composed or co-composed by the maids.😉
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! not sure whether or not others have pointed out the little Easter eggs in this vid 1. Miku having to tune her guitar at the 1:26 mark 2. the Bird Sai-chan gives someone at the 1:23 mark 3. Sai-chan is also bare foot for 1/2 the song (the Barefoot Contessa meets the Barefoot Assassin).
🤘🤘🤘
Good reaction!... the best rock band ( ... by far! ) nowadays.

Love this channel ❤ Jonathan Cain and Jack Black React to Band Maid 🤘🏽
🤣
One of my favorites, thanks
That's what happens when a band is on fire, the stage erupts in smoke. Thanks for continuing to react to Band-Maid.
Minchomode unlocked! 🕊️
saIKI LOST HER SHOES IN THE CROWD, IN THE PREVIOUS SONG
The song is about men who choose to date virtual girls inside video games, rather than dealing with annoying and smelly real life women. It’s a thing in Japan. One reason for the shrinking population.
WAKANAI/WAKKANAI is a contraction of WKARANAI, which means, “I don’t understand.”
It's about someone with a fascination for an "online virtual " girl.

This video shows what happened when Saiki is mad . Check out her free hand during the v.

Thanks! We get the genesis of Miku-chan’s lyricism ideas. I like it.
Lyrics weren't written by Miku on this song.
@@DeanF_MIDI that’s why I said genesis of her lyricism ideas. Obviously she learned something from Miwa Sasaki. 🙃

Analyze Don't Let Me Down next! Would be a good follow up. Just FYI, Real Existence was not written by them.

Saiki lost her shoes before this song, during Freedom when She was singing in the crowd 😂🔥❤️

I think everything has already been said below. So, I'll just say "Great Reaction"..
That part of the chorus at 1:55 really reminds of some 1960's hit I can't quite place - a Petula Clark number maybe?
Great reaction, but I guess you already knew that until the song "Alone" none of the songs were composed or written by the girls.
